Science fiction is a genre of fiction dealing with imaginary but more or less plausible (or at least non-supernatural) content such as future settings, futuristic science and technology, space travel, aliens, and paranormal abilities. Exploring the consequences of scientific innovations is one purpose of science fiction, making it a "literature of ideas".
Science fiction is largely based on writing rationally about alternative possible worlds or futures. It is similar to, but differs from fantasy in that, within the context of the story, its imaginary elements are largely possible within scientifically established or scientifically postulated laws of nature (though some elements in a story might still be pure imaginative speculation).
The settings for science fiction are often contrary to known reality, but most science fiction relies on a considerable degree of suspension of disbelief, which is facilitated in the reader's mind by potential scientific explanations or solutions to various fictional elements. Science fiction elements include:
Andrey Klimov (born July 26, 1982 in Klimovsk, Russia) is an undefeated Russian boxer in the Lightweight division and is the current National Russian Lightweight Champion.
On May 14, 2011 Klimov tookout American prospect Ty Barnett (18-1), in just three rounds.
Paul Levinson (born 1947) is an American author and professor of communications and media studies at Fordham University in New York City. Levinson's novels, short fiction, and non-fiction works have been translated into twelve languages.
As a commentator on media, popular culture, and science fiction Levinson has been interviewed more than 500 times on local, national and international television and radio. He is frequently quoted in newspapers and magazines around the world and his op-eds have appeared in such major papers as The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, New York's Newsday, and The New York Sun. He was interviewed in a short weekly spot early Sunday mornings on KNX-AM Radio in Los Angeles, from 2006 to 2008 on media-related news events and popular culture. He hosts four podcasts and maintains several blogs. In April 2009, The Chronicle of Higher Education named him one of Twitter's top ten "High Fliers".
In 1985 he co-founded Connected Education, offering online courses for Masters credit. He served as President of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America from 1998 to 2001.
Monty Python (sometimes known as The Pythons) was a British surreal comedy group who created Monty Python's Flying Circus, a British television comedy sketch show that first aired on the BBC on 5 October 1969. Forty-five episodes were made over four series. The Python phenomenon developed from the television series into something larger in scope and impact, spawning touring stage shows, films, numerous albums, several books and a stage musical as well as launching the members to individual stardom. The group's influence on comedy has been compared to The Beatles' influence on music.
The television series, broadcast by the BBC from 1969 to 1974, was conceived, written and performed by members Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin. Loosely structured as a sketch show, but with an innovative stream-of-consciousness approach (aided by Gilliam's animation), it pushed the boundaries of what was acceptable in style and content. A self-contained comedy team responsible for both writing and performing their work, the Pythons' creative control allowed them to experiment with form and content, discarding rules of television comedy. Their influence on British comedy has been apparent for years, while in North America it has coloured the work of cult performers from the early editions of Saturday Night Live through to more recent absurdist trends in television comedy. "Pythonesque" has entered the English lexicon as a result.
George Walton Lucas, Jr. (born May 14, 1944) is an American film producer, screenwriter, director, and entrepreneur. He is the founder, chairman and chief executive of Lucasfilm. He is best known as the creator of the space opera franchise Star Wars and the archaeologist-adventurer character Indiana Jones. Lucas is one of the American film industry's most financially successful directors/producers, with an estimated net worth of $3.2 billion as of 2011.
George Lucas was born in Modesto, California, the son of Dorothy Ellinore (née Bomberger) and George Walton Lucas, Sr. (1913–1991), who owned a stationery store.
Lucas grew up in the Central Valley town of Modesto and his early passion for cars and motor racing would eventually serve as inspiration for his USC student film 1:42.08, as well as his Oscar-nominated low-budget phenomenon, American Graffiti. Long before Lucas became obsessed with film making, he wanted to be a race-car driver, and he spent most of his high school years racing on the underground circuit at fairgrounds and hanging out at garages. However, a near-fatal accident in his souped-up Autobianchi Bianchina on June 12, 1962, just days before his high school graduation, quickly changed his mind. Instead of racing, he attended Modesto Junior College and later got accepted into a junior college to study anthropology. While taking liberal arts courses, he developed a passion for cinematography and camera tricks. George Lucas graduated from USC in California.
Forever I'll enjoy you, underchevement
I gonna see you every day now if I can
Why then don't the night show really matters
I still wake on the fields of regret
There is something to this dream, we're all involved in
Whoa, can I see it, can I say it may exist
Rest me, hide my years around the planet
If we dwell in the fields of regret
What horror must invade the mind
When the approaching judge shall find
What sinful deeds from all mankind
With death and nature in surprise
Behold the wretched sinners rise
To meet the judge's searching eyes
And when the doomed no more can flee
From the flames of misery
Assist me while I die
Wander through those ever thoughts though if imagined
But come down on, it's so easy to resist
Rest me, hide my years around the planet
Sound another, no part over, won't forget
(It's just like science fiction
Who knows what the fuck they're talking about
There's always one in every crowd)
There is always one in every crowd
You can hear the voices when you're alone
They sound like metal on metal obxious and loud
Don't let go
don't listen to the sound of all the people you know
Slowly falling apart
And falling down now
(Everything is falling down now)
When I think I'm alone
I watch the news on my girlfriend's tv
It's like a bad B movie
sometimes I can't comprend
all the stupid things that I see
don't let go
you Can't believe your eyes
When everything they show you
Just makes you want to cry
and you don't even want to know
That you need to remember
that life is always getting better
So don't let go
There is always one in every crowd
You see them when you think you're alone
It all just seems like science fiction
No one knows what they're talking about
So don't let go
don't listen to the sound
of all those people you know
Slowly falling apart And falling down now
i think You need to remember
Life is always getting better
Did I hear you laugh
Or was that a scream?
I don't quite think you're what you seem
Is there an honest face
In a hidden place waiting to be seen
It's just another day
In your tragic play
And then I hear you say
"It's changed"...but there's something strange
'Cause you're not the same...
When you smile
I can see the pain and the sadness makes me cry
Your eyes
Are an open door to the fiction in your life
Is that a happy face
Or a hiding place?
'Cause your smile's not so real
Is there a touch of science to your silence
When it comes to what you feel?
It's just another stain
on your robe of shame
And now it's just so plain to see
That you're just like me...emotionally
When you smile...
I can see the pain and compassion make me cry
Your eyes...
Are an open door to the fiction in your life
If it's the truth that hurts
Then see how you're killing me
So easily...when you smile
When you smile
I can see the pain and the sadness makes me cry
Your eyes
Are an open door to the fiction in your life
I THOUGHT THAT LOVE WAS SCIENCE FICTION
UNTIL I SAW YOU TODAY
NOW THAT LOVE IS MY ADDICTION
I'VE THROWN ALL MY BOOKS AWAY
WHEN I WAS YOUNG I WAS SO NAIVE
I DIDN'T BELIEVE NO I DIDN'T BELIEVE
I DIDN'T BELIEVE
NEVER THOUGHT THAT WE'D LAST THIS LONG
ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT THEY'D DROPPED THE BOMB
DROP THE BOMB (DIDN'T )
CHORUS
WHEN I WAS YOUNG I WAS, SO NAIVE
I DIDN'T BELIEVE NO DI DINT' BELIEVE
I DIDN'T BELEIVE
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR A MAN FROM SPACE
TO COME TO EARTH TO MEET THE HUMAN RACE
THE HUMAN RACE (DIDN'T )
you pull me by the arm
tell me what to believe
you tell me there is only one way
one way to see
whatever faith you chooce
may not be for me
how can i be saved
while being forced to believe
believe.
lets save the world
one by one
well make them believe
conform if they must
dont question the thought
its whats always been told
well make them believe
lets save the world
so spread the word
and tell me of good news
that if i act right
i can be like you
well to live is to learn
and think for yourself
and ill do just that
One, two
One, two, three, four
Michael Rennie was ill
The Day the Earth Stood Still
But he told us where we stand
And Flash Gordon was there
In silver underwear
Claude Rains was the Invisible Man
Then something went wrong
For Fay Wray and King Kong
They got caught in a celluloid jam
Then at a deadly pace
It Came From Outer Space
This is how the message ran...

Doctor X will build a creature
See androids fighting Brad and Janet
Anne Francis stars in Forbidden Planet

At the late night, double feature, picture show
I knew Leo G. Carroll
Was over a barrel
When Tarantula took to the hills
And I really got hot
When I saw Janette Scott
Fight a Triffid that spits poison and kills
Dana Andrews said prunes
Gave him the Runes
Passin' 'em used lots of skills
And When Worlds Collide
Said George Pal to his bride
I'm gonna give you some terrible thrills

It's been more than this
More than this for years or more
And probably a week or two to go
The endless cycle bliss
The blissful words to follow yours
And my arms were wide open
But you wanted more, you needed more
But not the kind that I was giving
Iron out the blood
The blood that stains the ties of living
It's easy to believe in social calls
Contribute to my pulse
And make your best loud intrusion
Easy to believe and worst of all
But you wanted more, you needed more
But not the kind that I was giving
Wall to wall
Brick by brick
Bring the whole thing down
It's fire with fire
Miles for miles
Sinking sense of sound
Last and last burning fast
Bring the rain or water
First of all we must be wrong

I cannot depend on gravity
You are weightless everywhere
So why would it come back to me
To listen to me stare
So what are you afraid of
There's somethin' more
It's leaving you alone
There's somethin' more
There's somethin' more
There's somethin' more
I cannot believe the attitude
That we are simply all alone
So why would it come back to you
To listen to me moan
So what are you afraid of
There's somethin' more
It's leaving you alone
There's somethin' more
There's somethin' more
There's somethin' more
I was bored
I was feelin' uninspired
It caught me
But I am sure
That besides this metal plate
I'm still the same
Same!
And I resent the attitude
That we are simply all alone
Why would it come back to you
Listen to me moan
So what are you afraid of
There's somethin' more
It's leaving you alone
There's somethin' more
What are you afraid
It's leaving you alone
It's somethin' more
It's somethin' more
Yeah
Little green men coming out of paint cans,
Phosphate mines and Slaked Lime, 1966, he was sixteen,
it's Central Florida in the era of the dragline,
play it over the pit and dig up more of that green shit,
and trade it with the Russians, who are traditionally hated,
you can imagine that after a few years
that you'd run out of things to say,
and I'll be here every day.
Phospho~Gypsum, Radon-222,
the daughters watch over you,
on a transformer four stories high it walks like a cripple
and turns on its base,
diggin' up that Dicalcium Phosphate.
Travel the blacktop
and you won't have far to go to find an alien civilization,
a creature from a creation that's from outer space.
Sixty foot high for miles around;
one million tons of Phospho~Gypsum tailings rise to the sky.
Nearly half the world's fertilizer once lay beneath the overburden;
it got taken off this sandbar,
and now there's something that's left behind.
Hey, this place is a mess!
'what are you takin' about?
I'll clean it up later.
No, that's not the way it is at all, I'm not a miner I don't care,
man, that's pant of the system, I'm punk,
but who's gonna indict the Wall Street Journal, just me and Bob Ray,
it's just part of the system here on the surface of the planet
and the day has come when there's only work left
There's unlimited sunshine in a bottle of Tropicana,
with his friends and his 'Spooky Tooth' 8-track flipped upside down,
drivin' in his Mercury Monterey down to Lithia Springs,
saying that if we could take the tailings,
and build a building for the New York Stork Exchange,
then we could tell everyone about
how we live in a state that digs Radon by the ton
and you'll be loved by everyone,
and the government will give us a Superfund,
What could I do? Only a hero,
Shame is my master and it's a cruel one,
I can't take this, I'm no-one's advert,
Hit me - leave me, make me feel human...
It was my life but I couldn't see that,
Viewing my purpose with growing hatred,
Why can't I see? Can't get through pain -
Curtain my senses 'cause I don't deserve them,
I knew that I would not be coming back,
I found I needed a home, yet that home wasn't here,
So much that we had lost with nothing to show,
'Tragic' - that wasn't the word for it, was everything...
...Down in self hate? I'll do that for you,
Clear out my soul for I won't live with it,
God's a creation - here's how you make him...
My smile's plaster - that's all I feel now,
It's not quite Paris though we'll always have it,
Dropped my cigarette but I can't notice,
I can't avoid it - don't want my freedom,
I seem so worthless - nothing was ever mine,
I knew...
I used to be in love with J.C.
Now I'm in love with J & C
You better watch what you do baby
My love is raging fire and ecstasy
What is the matter baby open the door
Ain't you in love with me no more?
The angel Gabriel is here on a mission
Did I hear you laugh
Or was that a scream?
I don't quite think you're what you seem
Is there an honest face
In a hidden place waiting to be seen
It's just another day
