Greater Nepal: Our History - Past Present and Future
Greater Nepal: Our History - Past Present and Future
Greater Nepal: Our History - Past Present and Future For more please visit our website: http://www.biratnagarnepal.com/ Greater Nepal is a concept of Nepal extending beyond its present boundaries to include Indian territories controlled briefly (10 to 20 years) by the Gurkha army after defeating some Indian kingdoms in wars fought from 1791 to 1804 but ceded to the East India Company under the Sugauli Treaty after the Gurkha king was defeated in the 1814--16 Anglo-Nepalese War. The concept of "Greater Nepal" does not include those parts of Tibet that the Gurkha army occupied very briefly after defeating Tibetans in wars fought from 1789 to 1791 but from where the Gurkha army was ejected by Chinese army which defeated the Gurkha king in 1792 Sino-Nepalese War. Former Prime Minister Prachanda said in a 2005 interview with Times of India that Greater Nepal was a "media-created stunt.- published: 08 Oct 2013

opening ceremony of Greater Nepal map.
official fb page : https://www.facebook.com/GreaterNepal official website : http://greaternepal.org ABOUT GREATER NEPAL The greater nepal was established in 15th august 2005. It was established with the main objectives that the territories of Nepal lost as a result of Sugauli Treaty (4th march, 1816 A.D.) should be returned. As to how the nationality of Nepal became disintegrated and remains in semi-colonized states as a result of Sugauli Treaty, to seek ways for freedom from it is the responsibility of every Nepali. To run campaigns for the return of the territories which have remained under Indian occupation after 15th August 1947 A.D., is the best and the only for freedom for the colonialism. The main objective of this Front is to launched constructive and retributive/counteractive activities against Indian encroachment, interference and hegamonism meted to the national integrity of Nepal. To inculcate the feeling of national pride, dignity and national glory in all Nepalese and to encourage to be dedicated to the national security of Nepal are the additional primary objective of the Front. Whatever varied be the nature of the activities, they are in one or the other way are to be focused on 'Greater Nepal' is the policy taken by the front. Concentration, particularly, on the question of nationalism and focusing attention on the security of sovereignty of Nepal, the Front has been attentively making effort to demonstrate that the feeling of nationalism in Nepalese is as powerful today as was ever before.- published: 26 Nov 2013

Teesta River in Sevoke
Teesta River in Sevoke
Teesta River in Sevoke The Teesta River (Pron:ti:ˈstə) or Tista (Nepali: टिष्टा, Hindi टीस्ता Bengali তিস্তা) is said to be the lifeline of the Indian state of Sikkim, flowing for almost the entire length of the state and carving out verdant Himalayan temperate and tropical river valleys. The river then forms the border between Sikkim and West Bengal before joining the Brahmaputra as a tributary in Bangladesh. The total length of the river is 309 km (192 mi) It drains an area of 12,540 km. Before a large part of this was situated in Nepal. But after the Sugauli Treaty it was acceded to British India. Through its course, the Teesta river has carved out ravines and gorges in Sikkim meandering through the hills with the hill station of Kalimpong lying just off the river. Variegated vegetation can be seen along this route. At lower elevations, tropical deciduous trees and shrubs cover the surrounding hills; alpine vegetation is seen at the upper altitudes. The river is flanked by white sand which is used by the construction industry in the region. Large boulders in and around the waters make it ideal for rafting enthusiasts. Between Rangpo town and the railway bridge (popularly called Lohapul or iron bridge) on it as it enters the plains at Sevoke, the Teesta flows with a very strong current, ideal for white river rafting. Towns like Teesta Bazaar and Melli have facilities for group rafting. Though the river looks innocuous, the underlying current is very strong. In 1915, G.P. Robertson, the then Municipal Engineer of Darjeeling, drowned after losing control of the boat in the turbulence while surveying the river. The boat struck a partially hidden boulder and was sucked in by a whirlpool, leaving no trace of the occupants. During the monsoons, this humble river distends its banks; both in size and turbulence. Landslides in this region often dam up parts of the river in this season. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tista_River- published: 25 Nov 2013
