Mansur al-Hallaj (Persian: منصور حلاج Mansūr-e Ḥallāj; full name Abū al-Muġīṭ Husayn Manṣūr al-Ḥallāğ) (c. 858 – March 26, 922) (Hijri c. 244 AH – 309 AH) was a Persian mystic, revolutionary writer and pious teacher of Sufism most famous for his poetry, accusation of heresy and for his execution at the orders of the Abbasid Caliph Al-Muqtadir after a long, drawn-out investigation.
Al-Hallaj was born around 858 in Fars province of Persia to a cotton-carder (Hallaj means "cotton-carder" in Arabic). His grandfather was a Zoroastrian. His father lived a simple life, and this form of lifestyle greatly interested the young Al-Hallaj. As a youngster he memorized the Qur'an and would often retreat from worldly pursuits to join other mystics in study.
Al-Hallaj later married and made a pilgrimage to Mecca, where he stayed for one year, facing the mosque, in fasting and total silence. After his stay at the city, he traveled extensively and wrote and taught along the way. He traveled as far as India and Central Asia gaining many followers, many of whom accompanied him on his second and third trips to Mecca. After this period of travel, he settled down in the Abbasid capital of Baghdad.

Louis Massignon (July 25, 1883–October 31, 1962) was a French scholar of Islam and its history. Although a Catholic himself, he tried to understand Islam from within and thus had a great influence on the way Islam was seen in the West; among other things, he paved the way for a greater openness inside the Catholic Church towards Islam as it was documented in the pastoral Vatican II declaration Nostra Aetate.
Louis Massignon was born in Nogent-sur-Marne, Val-de-Marne near Paris. His father, Fernand Massignon (1855–1922), a painter and a sculptor under the pseudonym Pierre Roche, was an intimate friend of Joris-Karl Huysmans. Huysmans' own conversion to Roman Catholicism was one of the first major inspirations of the young Louis in a friendly tutorial relationship that lasted from 1901 till Huysmans' death in 1907.
Louis Massignon started his studies at the Lycée Louis-le-Grand in Paris (1896) where he befriended his classmate Henri Maspero, later a renowned sinologist. Following his "baccalauréat" (1901) he went on a first trip to Algeria where his family had relations, and ties with high colonial officers: Henry de Vialar, Henry de Castries and Alfred Le Chatelier, the founder of the Chair of Muslim Sociology at the Collège de France in Paris. In 1902 he continued his studies, graduating "licencié ès-lettres" on an essay on Honoré d'Urfé and embarking on the first of his many Arab subjects: the corporations of Fez in the 15th century. Exploring the sources of his study in Morocco in 1904 he vowed to dedicate himself to the study of Arabic after a dangerous confrontation in the desert. In 1906 he received his "diplome d'études supèrieures" on the strength of his study Tableau géographique du Maroc dans les 15 prémieres années du 16ième siecle, d'après Leon l'Africain (Jourdan ed., Alger 1906).

I saw you taping thunder from your balcony
Saving the sounds
Don't trust your memory
I see you catch the lightning
Hold it up so you can see
Through the open windows
Looking down at me
Let's wake the roosters
Nighttime's gonna go
We'll walk and talk years of
Before the light begins to show
Let's wake the roosters
Nice to know you Joe
Let's wake the roosters
Hola Joe
Catch the sunrise in a glass
If you turn your back you'll miss it
Coming up real fast
Set your trap for nighttime
You lie down in the dark
Listen to the thunder
Listen to my heart
Let's wake the roosters
Nighttime's gonna go
We'll walk and talk yeaars of
Before the light begins to show
Let's wake the roosters
Nice to know you Joe
Let's wake the roosters
Hey-ho ola Joe
Caught you in the rain
It took you by surprise
I'll take you home and dance with you
Until your clothes are dry
Place your finger on my pulse
I'll keep the sign of you
Keep it nice and close
And when I feel the Breath of spring
On my face
I know the silent sound of you
Won't be erased
Let's wake the rooserts
Nighttime's gonna go
We'll walk and talk years of
Before the light begins to show
Let's wake the roosters
Nice to know you Joe
Let's wake the roosters
hello hello joe it all went wrong
but i know i'm not alone
play this tune all over the town
hello hello joe i keep on strumming
and i know i'll get it done
cause i'm not the only one
i got it playing on my stereo
i'm never ever gonna let it go
and i try to sing along
and i know i can't go wrong
hello hello joe i'd like to have advice
but you won't tell
i strain my ears to STRAIGHT TO HELL
down in london town
in these times of war
you won't raise your voice no more
it's still playing on my stereo
i'm never ever gonna let it go
and i try to sing along
and i know i can't go wrong
hello hello joe
i am not the only one
i am not the only one
it's not over it's just begun
try to sing along
i got it playing on my stereo
i'm never ever gonna let it go
When I saw you at the party
you were talking to a girlfriend
I just walked across the room and said: hello
hello
hello !
While we danced I felt your body
Touched your face and dared to kiss you
When the song was over I just couldn't let you go
you go
you go!
Hey hello - be my darling
hey hello - be my girl
Always wanted so rnuch more than just a one night love
affair.
Hey hello - feel the magic
hey hello - in the air
I can give you so much more than just a one night love
affair.
Midnight-hour in my apartment
I could feel your burning passion
When I loved you in the shadow of the night.
You were leaving in the morning
but you promised you would call me
One more kiss
I'll see you soon
and then goodbye!
Hey hello - be my darling
hey hello - be my girl
. . .
Hey hello - be my darling
hey hello - be my girl
. . .
Hey hello - feel the magic
hey hello - in the air
I can give you so much more than just a one night love
