Cinnamon ( /ˈsɪnəmən/ SIN-ə-mən) is a spice obtained from the inner bark of several trees from the genus Cinnamomum that is used in both sweet and savoury foods. While native only to the island of Sri Lanka, cinnamon trees are now naturalized in South East Asia.[citation needed]
Cinnamon is the name for perhaps a dozen species of trees and the commercial spice products that some of them produce. All are members of the genus Cinnamomum in the family Lauraceae. Only a few of them are grown commercially for spice. In Sri Lanka, the major production region, only Cinnamomum verum (synonym Cinnamomum zeylanicum) is cultivated.
The name cinnamon comes through the Greek kinnámōmon from Phoenician.
In Sri Lanka, in Sinhala, cinnamon is known as kurundu (කුරුඳු), recorded in English in the 17th century as Korunda. In India, where it is cultivated on the hills of Kerala, it is called "karuvapatta" or "Elavanga Tholi"(Malayalam) or "dalchini" (Hindi). In Indonesia, where it is cultivated in Java and Sumatra, it is called kayu manis ("sweet wood") and sometimes cassia vera, the "real" cassia. In several European languages, the word for cinnamon comes from the Latin word cannella, a diminutive of canna, "cane".
Do you believe that you're dead when you die
Or do you believe in a soul
You have the power to mess with their minds
You've got them under control
Everybody wants a piece of you
To take them higher than they ever were on the ground
(All I wanna say is)
Cinnamon, Cinnamon
Don't let them down
Cinnamon, Cinnamon
Don't let them down
Nobody sees that you smile when you lie
You'll take that mask to your grave
You know what you're doing
God knows you're not blind
You just don't want to be saved
Line 'em up and knock 'em down
You've taken everything and still keep coming around
Cinnamon, Cinnamon
Don't let them down
Cinnamon, Cinnamon
Don't let them down
You have the power to mess with their lives
They're under your control
Everybody wants a piece of you
To take them higher than they ever were on the ground
Cinnamon, Cinnamon
Don't let them down
Cinnamon, Cinnamon
Don't let them down...
I'd like to sing a story for you
Here's what I'd sing if I could impress you
Hear me can you hear me?
Hear me can you hear me?
Hear me can you hear me now?
You've got to be the prettiest girl
I've ever witnessed in the whole world
Hear me can you hear me?
Hear me can you hear me?
Hear me can you hear me now?
We both talk about love
We both know about love
We both sing the songs
Can you hear me can you hear me now?
Yeah, come on come on now
Yeah, come on come on now
Yeah, come on come on now
Yeah, come on come on
I'd like to write a story for you
with a little melody pretty for you
Hear me can you hear me?
Hear me can you hear me?
Hear me can you hear me now?
Never condescend to you, my dear
Always speak the words so lovely to hear
Hear me can you hear me?
Hear me can you hear me?
Hear me can you hear me now?
We both talk about love
We both know about love
We both sing the songs
Can you hear me can you hear me now?
Yeah, come on come on now
Yeah, come on come on now
Yeah, come on come on now
Yeah, come on come on
Where did you come from
Where are you now?
Just like an angel
Seems like you left me
When you broke down
Down
Down
Down
Yeah, come on come on now
Yeah, come on come on now
Yeah, come on come on now
If you ask Uncle Charlie,
He'll give you some elderberry wine
If you ask Uncle Charlie,
He'll give you some elderberry wine
It may be what you want
But I got what you need--
Cinnamon I'll trip over you any old time you please
I'll trip over you any old time you please
You've got what I want
You've got what I need--
Cinnamon I'll give you cinnamon baby
When you're touching my knees
I'll give you cinnamon when we're old
I want you all over me
I'm gonna' start a rumour
Baby that's my soul
It's a bloody shame
You don't know what you've got in your hand
It's a bloody shame
You don't know what you've got in your hand
Baby if you want I can draw a diagram
I have seen the future
Trying to press her tongue between your lips
I have seen the future
Trying to press her tongue between your lips
Stale sweat and cinnamon
I guess she is frightened most of all
Loves to fly but she's scared to fall
She's got scars on the outside
Says they're the worst kind
And I don't ask
She turns the lights out and locks the door
If this is fate count me out
And never try
Please never try to hold her down
Broken home
Broken bones
She never told anyone but me
And everything seemed make believe
We both ran
You can't ever catch horizon
Guess that's why we've both been riding so damn long
She says she thinks of me as home
If this is fate count me out
And never try
Please never try to hold her down
Hands on hips and lips to lips
I don't know how much someone could take from her
Fourth of July
Watch the night sky

Cinnamon
Cinnamon
Cinnamon let me in
Cinnamon let me in
Sun through the curtains,
I gave you a sign,
The birds were all quiet,
You were so quiet,
Some hear a call,
Some are the messengers,
I thumb through the pictures,
and know them all.
They said, "Do you remember when you saw her last"
I said, "Her skin is cinnamon, her skin is cinnamon."
I have too many stories, keeping it serious,
Some are collectores, some keep it straight,
It was a hospital,
I was delirious,
I clung to the stretcher
and drew them a heart.
Two gondolas to carry us,
Grand Via was hillarious,
St. Paul was there to marry us,
We lied, "We're already married!"
'Cuz here's proof: we have suntans,
And I spoke up with my new hands,
Listen to my car,
What is it telling us?
Start...please start..please start.
Is it spring where you are?
I waited all winter
chasing the lamp cords back to the wall,
It's a plausable scenario:
I clung the the stretcher,
I drew them a heart.
Sneakin down your alley way
And knockin' on your door
Thought I had enough
But I'm back for more
Cinnamon, let me in
Knock, knock, let me in
I won't go away
Oh, uh, uh
I'm gonna see ya
If it takes all day
Oh, uh uh
Cinnamon let me in
She la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la la, la, la, la
One potato, two potato
Three potato, four
Open up, Cinnamon
I want more
Five potato, six potato
Seven potato, eight
Give it to me, Cinnamon
I can't wait
You can't hide, girl
I'm comin' inside, girl
Do what you want to
Baby, I'll let you
Might as well face it
Cinnamon, you know I'm gonna get ya
She la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la la, la, la, la
The purple walls I'm swimming in
It was the first and the last time
We broke those hearts of cinnamon
I can remember what it taste like
The room was moving, you were losing
A balance and all kinds of things like me
I heart this coming from a mile away
Ask my friends outside if it's all okay
Can I leave you now, and break us to pieces?
It's gonna sting like hell when you're missing nights
And the gang's all set for the Friday fights
But I'm so ready to break us to pieces
A friendly face to fill the void
You're the glue and the staple
A parachute and we're deployed
I can remember what it felt like
The wind was blowing, so where we going?
Maybe far away from home
Oh, home sweet home
I heart this coming from a mile away
Ask my friends outside if it's all okay
Can I leave you now, and break us to pieces?
It's gonna sting like hell when you're missing nights
And the game's all set for the Friday fights
But I'm so ready to break us to pieces
I say oh oh, oh oh, oh oh oh
Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh oh
Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh oh, oh
I heard this coming from a mile away
Ask my friends outside if it's all okay
Can I leave you now, and break us to pieces?
It's gonna sting like hell when you're missing nights
And the game's all set for the Friday fights
But I'm so ready to break us to pieces
The castle has fallen
The birds have left their nest
The government is getting wasted
And the people locked everything else
The diagram is faulty
We haven't learned to speak
The prize is truly priceless
But I don't dare to compete
I never really had a reason
I never really had a reason
To call this thing off
I never really had a reason
I never really had a reason
To call this thing off
I stand by the road with a handful of cinnamon
Waiting for the sky to fall, but I'm not holding my
breath
Watch as your skeleton makes a home in my yard
I'm trying not to lose it, but I never knew it would be
so damn hard
Stand tall or crash against the wall
Time to pay for all my yesterdays
(I've got a plan, it's a good one
We could make a lot of money
Hear me out, never mind
It was stupid anyway
Let's go watch a lot of TV
Think it makes my brain hurt)
We've got recipes for a daughter
And cinnamon for a queen
And a president made of flowers
With a priest who cannot read
And I always want to meet them
But they're never what they seem
I'll go spin a lot of words
I really don't know what they mean
I never once said my peace
Instead, I say this song
But life's that way
It's always been
Which is why I'm marching on
Right, two, three, four
Left, two, three, four
Right, two, three, four
Left, two, three, one more time
Right, two, three, four
Left, two, three, four
Right, two, three, four
Left, two, three, one more time
Right, two, three, four
Left, two, three, four
Right, two, three, four
Left, two, three, one more time
Right, two, three, four
Left, two, three, four
