When I fronted The Bings, Ricky was our soundman. It was a no-brainer. Ricky taught me how to arrange vocal harmonies and do multi-track recording. We rarely agreed on anything. But we ALWAYS had Rock & Roll. Ricky's the sick love child of Frank Zappa and Tom Lehrer. He can write the greatest pop music - but, chooses to live in Quirky-World. Before Weird Al was famous, Ricky auditioned for his new band. On keyboards is John Clancy, who rented Hell House with Fear's guitarist, Philo Kramer. John created the song that became "Johnny Are You Queer" - performed by The Go Gos, and a hit for Josie Cotton. Ricky and Philo collaborated on music for years before Philo formed Fear. Heather Locklear's sister was there in all her punk glory.Ricky was married to their cousin, Lynne (see what you learn here?). It was a time of unbridled crazee - and Ricky's hyperactive stage presence set the tone.
