Plot
In 1220, a small band of English crusaders arrives at Samarkand in Central Asia, just as the city and its ruling princess are threatened by the hordes of Genghis Khan. Lovely Princess Shalimar hopes to thwart the conqueror by guile, while Sir Guy wants to put up a brave (if ultimately hopeless) fight. Despite a mutual attraction, their conflicting projects threaten any hope of success either might have had alone. Fast-moving; bears little relation to history.

The Golden Horde (Mongolian: Züchi-iin Ulus) was a Mongol and later Turkic khanate that was established in the 13th century and formed the north-western sector of the Mongol Empire. The khanate is also known as the Kipchak Khanate or as the Ulus of Jochi. The Nogais are descendants from the Golden horde.
After the death of Batu Khan in 1255, the prosperity of his dynasty lasted for a full century until 1359, though the intrigues of Nogai did invoke a partial civil war in the late 1290s. The Horde's military power peaked during the reign of Uzbeg (1312–41), who adopted Islam. The territory of the Golden Horde at its peak included most of Eastern Europe from the Urals to the right banks of the Danube River, extending east deep into Siberia. In the south, the Golden Horde's lands bordered on the Black Sea, the Caucasus Mountains, and the territories of the Mongol dynasty known as the Ilkhanate.
The khanate had begun to experience violent internal political disorder in 1359, before it was briefly reunited under Tokhtamysh in 1381. However, soon after the 1396 invasion of Tamerlane, it broke into smaller Tatar khanates that declined steadily in power. At the start of the 15th century the Horde began to fall apart. By 1433 it was simply referred to as the Great Horde. On its territories appeared numerous predominantly Turkic-speaking khanates. These internal struggles allowed the northern vassal state of Moscovy to rid itself of the "Tatar Yoke" at the Great stand on the Ugra river in 1480. The remnants of the khanate, known as the Great Horde, persisted until 1502.
Ann Marie Blyth (born August 16, 1928) is an American actress and singer, often cast in Hollywood musicals, but also successful in dramatic roles. Her performance as Veda Pierce in the 1945 film Mildred Pierce was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Blyth was born in Mount Kisco, New York, to parents who divorced shortly after her birth. She was raised a devout Roman Catholic by her mother. Blyth began her acting career initially as "Anne Blyth," but changed the spelling of her first name back to "Ann" at the beginning of her film career. Her first acting role was on Broadway in Watch on the Rhine (from 1941 until 1942). She was signed to a contract with Universal Studios, and made her film debut in Chip Off the Old Block in 1944. In musical films such as Babes on Swing Street, and Bowery to Broadway (both 1944), she played the part of the sweet and demure teenager.
On loan to Warner Brothers Blyth was cast "against type" as Veda Pierce, the scheming, ungrateful daughter of Joan Crawford in the 1945 film Mildred Pierce. Her dramatic portrayal won her outstanding reviews and she received a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. (Crawford won the Best Actress award for that film.)
George Sherman (July 14, 1908-March 15, 1991) was a film director of action movies beginning in the 1930s. The New York-born director's films include The Sleeping City and Tomahawk.
She was swing by the bangles in a main street store
A while before we met
The most dangerous angles that you ever saw
She spied her amulet
And she took a loop of leather for around her neck
And that was then the start
The most dangerous lady on her quarter deck
She found her Golden Heart
You found your Golden Heart
Then we swirled around each other and the thread was spun
To some arcadian band
I would stop it from swinging like a pendulum
Just to hold time in my hand
And you shot me with a cannonball of history
And long forgotten art
I'd be turning it over as our words ran free
I'd hold your Golden Heart
I'd hold your Golden Heart
Nothing in the world prepared me for, your heart, your heart
Nothing in the world that I love more your heart, your heart
Your Golden Heart
And every time I'm thinking of you from a distant shore
And all the time I sleep
I will have a reminder that my baby wore
A part of you to keep
And I'll send all my promises across the sea
And while we're apart
I will carry the wonder that you gave to me
I'll wear your Golden Heart
I'll wear your Golden Heart
Nothing in the world prepared me for your heart, your heart
Nothing in the world I love more your heart, your heart
Your Golden Heart
Like a bubble that's floating
On high above
I won't break down
I won't cry
But the colours are melting
I am fragile
I've been acting so coldly
And hope some day
That you will forgive me
You are the one
That knows me for who I really am
It'll all be gone in the morning
We are lucky
Owe it all to fortune
Golden heart
Tears of love
Shining
Will glow
There's a light at
The end of the tunnel
I am crawling slowly
I am small
What's been up with me lately?
Hardly know me
Who's that in the mirror?
You are the one
That knows my moods of joy and anger
You've been coping and lonely
We are lucky
Owe it all to fortune
Golden heart
Tears of love
Shining
Will glow
Golden heart
Tears of love
Shining
Will glow
Golden heart
Tears of love
Shining
As sure as anything
As sure as I can be
That 99%, pure as Ivory
I caught the scent, followed the smell of it
Couldn't Ignore
Hey, why did you pick on me?
What's that pretty flower I see?
Tall and wild it waves at me
Mother says it's just a weed
Golden Rod, Golden Rod
Growing Wild, not in the city
Gave me an allergy
And my reaction's, what's gonna happen?
It gets no help from me
I can't explain it
Maybe I shouldn't try to
That old genetic code
Had a hold on me
We go inside it, ran head long into it
And mothers' warning, useless to me
What's that pretty flower I see?
Tall and wild it waves at me
Mother says it's just a weed
Golden Rod, Golden Rod
Another blonde, not from the city
Gave me an allergy
And you can see me drinking the poison
Taking it happily
What's that pretty flower I see?
Tall and wild it waves at me
Mother says it's just a weed
Golden Rod, Golden Rod
Another blonde, not from the city
Gave me an allergy
And my reaction's
What's gonna happen?
It gets not help from me
You're running wild, not in the city
Gave me an alleregy
And my reaction's
What's gonna happen?
It gets no help from
Well you will see me
Drinking the poison, taking it happily
You're running wild
You're running wild
Another blonde not from the city
Drinking the poison
Taking it happily
Not from the city
Golden Rod
Golden Rod
Golden Rod
I'm so alone now
Turn to stone now
Won't someone free me
Love me or need me
Surrounded by lovers I stand apart
Won't someone hold me
When I am lonely
Let the sun shine on my golden heart
Music's playing
I'm still praying
Venus made me
Eros betrayed me
Instead of love's arrow
He used a poison dart
So if you could love me
Take good care of me
You'd take this spell off my golden heart
I used to dance and
I knew romance till
A dagger of glass tore my world apart
But if you could hold me
When I am lonely
I'd love you back with a golden heart
(instrumental)
Take it like a man they said
Take your medicine
Find a golden road and stand
Then I saw exactly what they meant.
Find my homeboys on the dusky road
Who couldn't give a should about their life
Heed their words of faded brown
Then live it and sing about their strife.
Then bring your song to the river at sunrise
Sing that song 'til the river runs clean
It will happen to you
As its happened to me
Won't you sing that lovely song for me
It's alright mama
Let your children be loud
Watch them run into trouble
So they can figure it out
We spread our seeds far 'cross this land
Hoping they'd fall on good ground.
A vaccination in the sun and rain shine
And take a good long hard look around.
Then bring your song to the river at sunrise
Sing that song 'til the river runs clean
It will happen to you
As its happened to me
Come clean with me
It's alright mama
Let your children be loud
Watch them run into trouble
'Cause trouble's their medicine
