John Robert Wooden (October 14, 1910 – June 4, 2010) was an American basketball player and coach. Nicknamed the "Wizard of Westwood", he won ten NCAA national championships in a 12-year period—seven in a row—as head coach at UCLA, an unprecedented feat. Within this period, his teams won a record 88 consecutive games. He was named national coach of the year six times.
As a player, Wooden was the first to be named basketball All-American three times and he won a national championship at Purdue. Wooden was named a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame as a player (inducted in 1961) and as a coach (in 1973), the first person ever enshrined in both categories. Only Lenny Wilkens and Bill Sharman have since had the same honor.
He was one of the most revered coaches and was beloved by his former players, among them Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bill Walton. Wooden was renowned for his short, simple inspirational messages to his players, including his "Pyramid of Success". These often were directed at how to be a success in life as well as in basketball.

Chris Myers, a native of Miami and a Southern California resident, garnered his first major break in broadcasting as a 16-year-old high school student when he hosted his own show on Miami’s WKAT-AM radio, interviewing such sports heavy hitters as Muhammad Ali and Don Shula.[citation needed] Myers graduated from Chaminade High School, Hollywood, Florida, May, 1977. He joined Fox Sports Net as an anchor in December 1998 where he hosted the National Sports Report, among other hosting duties. William Theodore "Bill" Walton III (born November 5, 1952) is a retired American basketball player and television sportscaster. The "Big Red-Head", as he was called, achieved superstardom playing for John Wooden's powerhouse UCLA Bruins in the early '70s, winning three straight College Player of the Year Awards, while leading the Bruins to two Division I national titles. He then went on to have a prominent career in the National Basketball Association (NBA) where he was a league Most Valuable Player (MVP) and won two NBA championships. His professional career was significantly hampered by multiple foot injuries. Walton was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on May 10, 1993 and the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame that same year. He is the father of current Cleveland Cavaliers forward Luke Walton.
Walton was born in La Mesa, California, the son of Gloria Anne (née Hickey) and William Theodore "Ted" Walton. His listed adult playing height was 6 feet 11 inches; it has been reported that Walton was actually taller (7 feet 2 inches, or more), but did not like being categorized as a seven-footer.

Vincent Edward Scully (born November 29, 1927) is an American sportscaster, known primarily as the play-by-play voice of the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team on Prime Ticket, KCAL-TV and KABC radio. His 63 seasons with the Dodgers (1950–present) is the longest of any broadcaster with a single club in professional sports history, and he is second by a year to only Tommy Lasorda in terms of length of years with the Dodgers organization in any capacity.
Born in The Bronx, Scully grew up in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan. He made ends meet by delivering beer and mail, pushing garment racks, and cleaning silver in the basement of the Pennsylvania Hotel in New York City. His father was a silk salesman; his mother a Roman Catholic homemaker of Irish descent with red hair like her son. Scully attended high school at Fordham Preparatory School in the Bronx. He knew he wanted to be a sports announcer the moment he became fascinated with football broadcasts on his radio.
Scully began his career as a student broadcaster and journalist at Fordham University. While at Fordham, he helped found its FM radio station WFUV (which now presents a Vin Scully Lifetime Achievement Award each year), was assistant sports editor for Volume 28 of The Fordham Ram his senior year, sang in a barbershop quartet, played center field for the Fordham Rams baseball team, called radio broadcasts for Rams baseball, football, and basketball, got a degree, and sent about 150 letters to stations along the Eastern seaboard. He got only one response, from CBS Radio affiliate WTOP in Washington, which made him a fill-in.
Close your eyes, don't you cry
I'll sing you a lullaby
We'll sail our ship, across the sea
You and me, Christina
The wind may blow, the rain and snow
But I'll be with you wherever you go
Rest your head, remember the things I said
God will bless Christina
Christina, I'll be there for you
Christina, that's the promise I make to you
And deep at night, when nothing's right
I'll bid the angels bring you light
And bring you love
You'll never come to harm
In my arms Christina
And when thunder clouds are near
I'll be there, we'll make them disappear …
Christina, I'll be there for you
Hard times you had before you
I knew when I first saw you
You girl youve always been mistreated, cheated
So leave it all behind you
It took so long to find you
I know that we can last forever, ever and more, more, oh
Dont cry now that Ive found you
Don cry take a look around you
Dont cry it took so long to find you
Do what you want, but little darling please dont cry
I knew Id never doubt it
I was so sure about it
Dont think of all thats been before
Ill hear you when youre calling
Ill catch you when youre falling
Dont worry I will always be there, like never before, or,
You called my name you knew my number
You told me everything was gonna be fine
You touched my hand, and took me away from this place
And I keep on thinking I'm going out of my mind
Someone out there calling me
I don't know what I can't see
I dread to think what might be there
I'm shaking now with so much fear
I know, I feel
I'm living in desperate times
I looked to the ground, I couldn't believe my eyes
The world I'm from was never that tough
The life I've known is falling away from me
And all of my strength may not be enough
Now all is gone that I held true
Am I bound to lose you too?
The choking smoke obscures the sun
I see so clear what I've become
I know, I feel
We're living in desperate times
I held the world in the palm of my hand
And I threw it away like a petulant child
Someone out there calling me
I don't know what I can't see
I dread to think what might be there
I'm shaking now with so much fear
I know, I feel
After all your day is done
Time for sleep, the night time's come
Hopes and dreams are reborn
In the quiet of your room
After all the songs are sung
All the actors come and gone
The stage is dark and empty
But one candle burns alone
After all the pain has gone
How can I forget, your memory goes on
After all your pain has gone
My life goes on…
All the wounds you held inside
And your stubborn sense of pride
Take the love we feel for you
Try to help us understand
If the wish were left to me
This final act would never be
You give wings to our hearts
And our thoughts are with you now
After all the pain is gone
Only memories linger on
After all the pain is gone
Has gone is gone
After all the pain has gone
And in the darkness, when I call
And you must stand and face the tale to tell
Who would think that you would take the life of one you
loved so well?
And no-one else could see your point of view
To one and one has always been the answer two, or so
I'm told
How does it feel, knowing you're guilty?
How does it feel, to be all on your own?
With a crime of passion
A game of love and hate, but it's too late
There's no compassion
It's just a tug of war, that's lost before it's begun.
It's never won
It's a crime, it's a crime
And so you have to face the world alone
The life you took and tore apart without a care of your
And so he gazes in your eyes so cold
The love you shared, when you were young
Could never heal the pain you hold
So how does it feel, knowing you're guilty?
How does it feel, to be all on your own, on your own?
With a crime of passion
A game of love and hate, but it's too late
There's no compassion
It's just a tug of war, that's lost before it's begun
It's never won
With something you held so dear
How could you throw it away?
Your fatal emotions win the day…
How does it feel?
Cold is the night
Blue is the day
Cold is the night
Without you
Same stupid game
I always lose
Same stupid game
Without you
Cold is the night
I don't make promises
I don't tell lies
And I don't take anyone's advice
One thing I'm certain of
This time it's for real
Well I sure know how it feels
Cold is the night
Blue is the day
Cold is the night
Without you
Same stupid game
I always lose
Same stupid game
Without you
It's a cold, dark and lonely night
When you know no way to turn
When you've gambled the two things you loved and lost
It's the hard and only way to learn
When I was young, I though I'd never change
But values rarely stay the same
Such a drag to go through all of this
To see my whole life rearranged
I was caught, caught in the crossfire
Between you and me and me and her
I was caught, caught in the crossfire
Between right and left and right and wrong
And experience is no comfort now
It's the world of the unknown
There's a road leading through the crowd
I'm the man, the man who walks alone
From the start, well I had to choose
It was for me along to decide
It was plain sailing at daybreak
By nightfall I was dragged beneath the tide
I was caught, caught in the crossfire
Between you and me and me and her
I was caught, caught in the crossfire
About what was right and what it left for me
So everyday, keep searching, to find a way
And keep moving, to leave this place
Drown in sorrow, raise my glass
If I only could deceive you
Forgetting the game
Every time I try to leave you
You laugh just the same
'Cause my wheels never touch the road
And the jumble of lies we told
Just returns to my back to weigh me down...
We lay cards upon the table
The backs of our hands
And I swear I like your people
The boys in the band
Reminiscences gone astray
Coming back to enjoy the fray
In a tangle of night and daylight sounds...
All completeness in the morning
Asleep on your side
I'll be waking up the crewmen
Banana-boat ride
She responds like a limousine
Brought alive on the silent screen
To the shuddering breath of yesterday...
There's the succour of the needy
Incredible scenes
I'll believe you in the future
Your life and death dreams
As the cavalry of despair
Takes a stand in the lady's hair
For the favour of making sweet sixteen...
You make my life and times
A book of bluesy Saturdays
Yesterday you thought the flame has flickered again
A feeling from the past you’d recognize
But maybe tomorrow morning I won’t be there
Cos if you’re looking for the answer, then it’s
Right before your eyes
Look into the mirror, who is it you see?
The face of someone now as cold as ice
The anger in your mind turns now toward regret
If you’re looking for the answer
Then it’s right before your eyes
When your bed is empty
And you’re thinking of me
Your mind will dwell on all your sacrifice
For surely tomorrow morning, I won’t be there
And if you’re looking for the answer, then it’s
Finding forgiveness at the foot of your bed
Down on your bended knees
Listen to the voice replying inside you head
"Just leave your message please"
Sometimes your life may seem it's turned upside down
And the strangest things are happening
But you just don't give a thought about it
Can you fix it with a drug or a drink?
And you're out of control
So you just can't stand to talk about it
God knows
Be careful what you wish for
Be careful what you wish for
Can you get frightened as the thought of the truth?
Or are you gonna win at last? (I don't think so)
Sometimes you wish you hadn't sinned in your youth
'Cos now you're living in the past
Honesty is not a word that springs into mind
In the dead of night, when if just ain't right
And you really could be losing it
You pray, "Dear Lord, just take those ghosts from my
sight!"
But the line is dead, dial collect instead
And now I stand, forsaking pride The time has come to turn
the tide I've drawn the line, I've built my wall And I won't let
one more dream fall
All days of innocence, I surrendered long ago
Where's the wind that takes me higher The had that offers
peace The heart that still gives shelterÉ
I wanna go back to find The innocent days that I left behind
I still believe they're holding ground Behind the Battle Lines
If it takes a million miles over land and sea Gonna swim in
the rivers of purity I know they still run free Behind the
Battle Lines
One more mountain I must climb I've scaled so many in my
time And if the sun goes down on me The light of truth will
help me see
All days of innocence, I surrendered long ago
Where's the voice that speaks of mercy The eyes that are not
blind The love that's never endingÉ
A vision of eternity Oh, Lord! Never take the dream from me
You went away leaving me on my own
You went out there with somebody new
The distractions day are okay
I don't worry
But the night brings the memory back of you…
Plenty of girls I can laugh and pretend with
The evenings are never a bore
But the end of the party I leave by myself
And the thrill turns to chill when I get home
Baby come back
I'm lonely without you
Baby come back
You went away
Baby come back
Said I'm lonely without you
Baby come back
I always thought of myself as a loner
You proved me wrong now I know
Despite what I said, It's a high price I paid
It's so cold at the end of the day
I need you back by my side, there's no doubt I loved only
you all along
If you would admit that you're aching as I do
You're with me always
You hold my very soul
You never know uncertainty
Without you I am not whole
You are my Arkangel, my heart and my right hand
When in the face of danger we stand
You are my courage
You are my ecstasy
You give me hope, when there is none
For sinners just like me
Your wings will enfold me, hold me through the night
You are my Arkangel, my light
Forever faithful
Throughout my frailty
The times you had to carry me
The times you let me see
A candle in the darkness, oil upon the sea
The star that was guiding me
I feel your presence
Your voice I know so well
You caught me when I stumbled down
The steepest steps of Hell
The trials of my childhood, will be the death of me
When the night rolls in, black as sin
I don’t need reminding ‘bout the shape I’m in
Well I hate to lose, but I know I can’t win with you
Yeah, the laugh’s on me but enough is enough
My cover’s blown over, and I ain’t that tough
It’s the same old joke, and it’s getting real old
Your alibis, baby, are leaving me cold…
You and me, our worlds collide
All that’s left is pain and pride
Every day you ain’t in my life, all I feel inside is…
Another twist of the knife
Here it comes again
Another twist of the knife
I’m living in pain
Another twist of the knife
Well, my life with you is a one way street
In a town made of ice, where there ain’t no heat
It’s a crying shame, but I get no love from you
When the highway’s closed and the gates are shut
Your heart is a place that I just can’t touch
One last thing ‘fore you walk away
Turn out the lights on memory lane…
(chorus)
Go on, cut me until I bleed
Show me just what you feel for me
I got no more to lose
Remember the father
You thought you had
The best of your heart
And the heat in the fields
Then one day
They took him away
For sins that weren't revealed
And you cried every night
For no-one heard your pain
You struggled and fought
Against men who had sought
To silence your voice
Kill or be killed is the only law of the jungle
It doesn't matter
Now you're all grown up
You have their attention, they almost salute
It's so different now
You lead them by the hand
Isn't it strange the things children do
What children can do
You made a vow
That's a promise now
To turn the tables round
You worked for respect
And the power that it brings
They look to you for the future
You hold it in your hands
Don't despair
Don't look back
I see you now in the dead of night The shadows closing in
You lie and wait for the morning light You'll just survive till
then
Loneliness only means you harm So try to raise a smile Don't
you know that your open arms Can bridge a thousand miles?
When there's no end to it all Try to surrender Let yourself
fall and just Try to remember
You're Not The Only One who feels pain Open your heart
and live again The rule you depend upon From this day on
You're Not The Only One
Throw back the shutters and unlock the spell Let sunshine
light your face The growing fears that you know so well Will
vanish into space
You're Not The Only One who needs faith Climbing the face
of the unknown To tell you you're not alone And, above all
else You're Not The Only One
Free Yourself Take a good look around There's a lot of love
When you called me, and you told me that you needed
someone
I was hoping that that someone was me
Here you are and now I know that I’ve been fooling
myself
If you love someone else
Don’t come running to me for help, ‘cause
I don’t wanna know how he broke your heart, ‘n’
I don’t wanna know how you cried
I won’t stand in his shoes, I won’t play the part, not
like the rest, no
I’m never gonna be your second best
I remember when you left me all the reasons you gave
Why his love would be much stronger than mine
You believed his promises, but all that glitters ain’t
gold
Won’t fall for it again
Using me to get back at him, so
I don’t wanna know how he broke your heart, ‘n’
I don’t wanna know how you cried
I won’t stand in his shoes, I won’t play the part, not
like the rest, no
I’m never gonna be your second best
Oh it hurts, for you, girl
It’s the end of your world
What about me? When you left
Did you fight your evil demons
Or did you walk away in tears
Did you hold your head within your hands
After all those years?
Did you tell them of your story?
How you fought till you were done
At the end of the day when you'd had your say
Well, the big guns won
When you talked to me of glory
I know you held your banners high
But for all the good it did you
You made a grown man cry
And for those of us who loved you
And couldn't bear to see the pain
When the lights went out inside you
Something died in vain
It was you against the world
With a wounded heart you'd try to be a woman
A fragile little bird
With the wings that wouldn't fly
You denied yourself the childhood you deserved
It was you against the world
And you were just a little girl
Could you think about forgiveness
Could you find it in your heart
To release all the anger you feel
And make a brave new start
To forget about your battles
There's no shame in your defeat
Love will only make you stronger
Make your life complete
And be that little girl
For soon enough you will become a woman
High above the world
So precious and so proud
Your wings soar through the cloud towards your freedom
But remember, mighty bird
When you were just a little girl
When you say that you will never part from me
I believe you always, come what may
I sometimes have doubts, but when you speak to me
In seconds they're all washed away
And I know it never would occur to you
That you mean the world and more to me
Say that you'll stay for eternity
For it's you gives me reason to be
Woman oh woman, if you could only see
Woman oh woman, just what you mean to me
At times I know I am impossible
I can ignore you, but you should know by now
One look from you and I understand
And the frown disappears from by brow
In my life the girls were a necessity
There were others but none compared to you
I'll give you that life if you want it now
In the end that is all I can do
Well I tell myself this is the last time
I want the whole thing, nothing less will do
No-one else can give me just what I need
So always I come back to you…
Woman oh woman
Stone walls guarding
These generations
Bound in circumstance
Blood relations
Who will light a candle?
Memories are fading
Messengers are waiting
At my door
Curtains hiding
Love’s sweet confusions
All God’s property
Fears of intrusion
Who will light a candle?
Maybe I was sleeping
Messengers are waiting
At my door
For me now there’s no love left inside of me
All creation washed out to sea
All my nightmares come to me
Over and over and over again
Pride and passion
Both shall inflame us
Till oblivion
Comes hence to claim us
Who will light a candle?
Who can tell the story?
Messengers are waiting
A stolen glance, a shared romance
We should have said goodbye
Instead we found a secret love, that no-one knows
Just you and I
So we held on for so long, no need to question why
Now I fight back the feeling
I can’t resist, I can’t give in, but to carry on would be
a sin, tell me
Where do we go from here?
Where do we turn now that everything has changed
The colours are fading that once were so clear, so
Where do we go, where do we go from here?
I walk in the shadows, stand in the rain
You run to our rendez-vous, I ask myself
Will I see the same girl I used to, or a stranger to me?
The sweet taste of danger
The same charade in a cheap hotel, or is it love?
I just can’t tell, so
Where do we go from here?
Where do we turn now that everything has changed
The colours are fading that once were so clear, so
This is the year that we all live in fear
There's no future for you and I
It may be your dream but you don't fit in my scheme
And I'll run from your loving arms, it will be, that
You've not seen the bad side of me
I will stay in your sweet memory, 'till you die…
This is the day you should wake up and say
You'll discover what's going down because,
Maybe you're thinking that love's everlasting,
But no, there's something wrong, when you're sure
That the odds are all stacked on your side
But I'm only along for the ride, you'll observe…
This is the hour as it starts to turn sour and
You find out, that love's a sad game and
This is the moment you're losing, confusing,
That same old sympathy, but you carry on
And you dance 'till the guests have all gone,
There'll be no-one to carry you home,
You're alone, all alone… and
I'm walking on air, down a smoky corridor
I'm barely aware, this is no dream
I felt you were there, you spoke to me, beware of
What I saw, yes I'm sure, I want more,
And I'm walking on air
Oily, dark and blue, the picture hangs in front of you
Don't turn around, this is for real
The walls of this place, imprisoning your pretty face
I'm sure, what I saw, is no more and I'm walking on air
I'm floating, I'm falling, I'm silently calling
Adrift on an ocean, on waves of emotion
I'm following the light, through centuries of endless
light
The soporific sky, the moon and the stars
To Morpheus I fly, he holds me in a twilight that we
share, in his lair
If I dare, we'll go walking on air
I'm floating, I'm falling, I'm silently calling
Adrift on an ocean, on waves of emotion
Say a prayer for me, in solace and sincerity
Then sip your holy wine out of the silver spoon
And when my soul shall rise, then realize you live with
what you swore, and before, any more of your talking
Feel a chill, at the door, it's just me
All the day, I just can't stand it
I can't give no more, but the man demand it
Watch the clock, through the window
Wait for it, when the last bell go
Grab the keys, I go solo
Get that engine going, and the radio
City lights rushing fast by me
Got to leave, feel so damn stymied
Get away, where they can't see me
Where it's safe, I can just be me
Cruising quick, getting near midnight
Turn up the volume and I'm feeling alright
Play it loud
Play it long
Play to win
Play it cool
Play it hard
Don't give in
Play it live
Play it me
Turn on the radio
All the day, I just can't stand it
I can't give no more, but the man demand it
Get away, where they can't see me
Where it's safe, I can just be me
Grab the keys, I go solo
Get that engine going, and the radio
I saw you standing hand in hand
And now you come to me the solitary man
And I know what it is that made us live
Such ordinary lives
The where to go the who to see
No one could sympathize
The smile has left your eyes
The smile has left your eyes
And Ive become a rolling stone
I dont know where to go or what to call my own
But I can see that black horizon glooming
Ever close to view
Its over now its not my fault
See how this feels for you
The smile has left your eyes
The smile has left your eyes
But I never thought Id see you
Standing there with him
So dont come crawling back to me
Now its too late you realized
Now theres no one can sympathize
Now that the smile has left your eyes
Now its too late you realized
Now theres no one can sympathize
Now its too late you realized
Shine, shine, the light of good works shine
The watch before the city gates depicted in their prime
That golden light all grimy now
Three hundred years have passed
The worthy captain and his squad of troopers standing
fast
The artist knew their faces well
The husbands of his lady friends
His creditors and councillors
In armour bright, the merchant men
Official moments of the guild
In poses keen from bygone days
The city fathers frozen there
Upon the canvas dark with age
The smell of paint, a flask of wine
And turn those faces all to me
The blunderbuss and halberd-shaft
And dutch respectability
They make their entrance one by one
Defenders of that way of life
The redbrick home, the bourgeoisie
Guitar lessons for the wife
So many years we suffered here
Our country racked with spanish wars
Now comes a chance to find ourselves
And quiet reigns behind our doors
We think about posterity again
And so the pride of little men
The burghers good and true
Still living through the painters hand
It's late in the evening and there's no-one at home
I'm making the most of being on my own
Avowed intention is to be alone
But I'm one step closer to the danger zone
Between uncertainty and what is real
Lies never exactly knowing how I feel
I shake my head, inhale the cold night air
And I say to myself, yeah
You were
The last thing on my mind
But never far behind
The first thing that I'd find
Eight in the morning, and it's happened again
I'm walking the street to find that long-lost friend
Destroying Angel is the lover of mine
Through the doors, down to darkness at the golden sign
On every corner, on any day
She'll pick me up and chase my blues away
I know her face, but may as well be blind
Cause I say to myself…
You were
The last thing on my mind
Never far behind
Sundown dazzling day
Gold through my eyes
But my eyes turned within
Only see
Starless and Bible black
Ice blue silver sky
Fades into grey
To a grey hope that oh years to be
Starless and Bible black
Old friend charity
Cruel twisted smile
And the smile signals emptiness
For me
When I ran the hounds of hell
Twist my foot, I nearly fell
I was lucky I was alive
One look back I could have died
I was the sole survivor
Sole survivor
Sole survivor
Solitary fighter
When I saw it I was amazed
One time glory right in my gaze
I saw the sorrow, I saw the joy
Right in the darkness none could destroy
I was the sole survivor
Sole survivor
Sole survivor
Solitary fighter
And from the wreckage I will arise
Cast the ashes back in their eyes
See the fire, I will defend
Just keep on burning right to the end
I was the sole survivor
Sole survivor
Sole survivor
Are you one of mine
who can sleep with one eye open wide?
Agonizing psychotic
solitary hours to decide
Reaching for the light
at the slightest noise from the floor
Palms of hands perspire
heart goes leaping at a knock from the door
In the Dead of Night
In the Dead of Night
Rich and powerful ascend
complicated bends to be free
To indulge in what they will
and jaded thrill or fanstasy
Shuttered windows that belie
all stifled cries from within
And prying eyes are blind
to proceedings of the kind that begin
In the Dead of Night
Dirty linen, in the cupboard Don't want it on my back Muddy
water, in the system The monkey jumped the sack
I'm looking for future love, who can I turn to? Looking for
paradise, in the heartland Looking to everyone, who could be
anyone Better turn around, turn around Don't drive that
hammer down
Rise up - in a Sea Of Mercy Stand up - with the tree of life
Rise up - in a Sea Of Mercy Better gimme some, gimme some,
gimme some air Sea Of Mercy
Never had no shoeshine, worth the money Too much dust
around Fishing with the wrong line, no milk and honey In
this dried up ground
I'm looking for sanctuary, where can I turn to? Looking for
Shangri-La, in the heartland Looking to everyone, father
and mother's son Turn around, turn around Lay that weapon
down
Now I can sleep, with my conscience for a pillow 'Cause this
tomorrow, I'm sure I'm gonna see If there are streams, that
I realized all the things that I’d taken for granted
Peace, there in your eyes, was everything I ever wanted
my life to be
I’ve seen all the signs, I’d better believe what
they’re saying
Read every line, of your letter, I tell you I’m praying
Say it’s not true, no, it couldn’t be so
But the look in your eye’s telling me otherwise
I stand tall, ready to fall
Somehow I know that I’m throwing it all away
Say it ain’t so, say we can turn back the clock for one
Say it ain’t so, what I’m hearing now, darling, I don’t
wanna know, Oh no
Say it ain’t so, say we can turn back the clock for one
Say it ain’t so, what I’m hearing now, darling, I don’t
wanna know, Oh no
Say it ain’t so, far away that these memories lose all
their meaning
I wanna know, that you’ll stay, ‘cause part of me won’t
stop believing
What can I do? Oh I can’t let you go, please won’t you
see what you’re doing to me?
If it’s true, well, let me hear it from you
How can I life when I’m giving it all away
Say it ain’t so, tell me it’s all in my mind, I’ve been
dreaming
Say it ain’t so, I can’t help what I’m feeling, I gotta
know
Say it ain’t so, I promise whatever you want, I’ll be
waiting
I can take all the pain but I can’t let you go, oh no…
I’ll make it up to you
If I can find a way
Tell me what I have to do
I’m begging you to stay
Say it ain’t so, I can’t help what I’m feeling, I gotta
know
Say it ain’t so, say we can turn back the clock for one
I can take all the pain but I can’t let you go, oh no….
I realized, all the things that I’d taken for granted
Peace, in your eyes, was everything I ever wanted
You know you sell your soul Every time you lose control, is it
Heaven here on earth?
And you go through madness On your way to sadness It
seems your prayers are never heard
Well, if you wanna get high again Hit the sky again Girl,
that's up to you
For all this time, Marianne You've been Sand In My Hand
I'll keep holding on But until you understand You're still
sand in my hand
You throw it all away You live to die one more day And I
know you're going down So every night you look Try every
trick in your book But the time is running out
So if you wanna get high again Hit the sky again There's
nothing I can doÉ
All this time, Marianne You've been Sand In My Hand I'll
keep holding on Until all my strength has gone Don't be
Sanctuary
When all hope deserted me
This will forever, always be
Something so close to me
My Rock of Faith
Pulling me
Like the heat of the sun
Calling to Mercury
Now till eternity
Before my eye
I’ll never stand alone, for I
Have the foundation stone I knew
So as my spirits rise anew
Then with all speed
To the path
That will lead
Surely back to You ...
Strangely now
How the air’s getting cold
Shadows appear on the wall
The feeling of old
Lifting me up again
My Rock of Faith
And if I start to fall
I fear nothing at all ...
I have often thought of my life as fantasy
That the dreams I bought did not belong to me
But the grace I know as love
Makes me thank my stars above… 'cause I'm
Right where I wanted to be
I found heaven on earth, and I set myself free
There's the angel of destiny walking in front of me
And I'm right where I wanted to be
All the feelings that, as always, I've denied
Left me chained with anger, shivering inside
I was searching for a key
But with eyes to blind to see… I was
Right where I wanted to be
I found heaven on earth, and I set myself free
There's the angel of destiny walking in front of me
And I'm right where I wanted to be
It's 5 o'clock
driving sown Park Lane
as London leaves
for the weekend again
through the dark city streets
in the clinging rain
I take my car
towards the Thames
and Waterloo......
6.02 Waterloo
Was that a face I saw?
No, just a trick of light
It's getting clearer now
but moving out of sight
It's cold and late
and I can't miss that train
I turn around
walk through the arch
of Waterloo
I saw the same hooded face
He beckoned me from the gate
"Did you not know, my friend?
Ten years ago was the end
After the war
Waterloo was no more,
But your ticket states
There is one train
It's leaving now
And there is a place
Remember my face
Is it just an illusion, that I’m losing it, it didn’t
happen yesterday
Is it only confusion, that I’m using amusing
myself from day to day
Tell the truth, have we gone too far?
Losing sight of what we did and who we are
‘Cause it’s the real world that we’re living in
And with human kind I feel I don’t fit in
Sometimes it just frightens me to think of
where I’ve been
And the many times I felt like giving in
I've seen your diamond ring
Shining across the room
Illuminating everything
You're such a star, you know you are, you are
And you've got no time for me
I'm not one you want to see
Your role in society
Dictates to you, a busy man, you've things to do
I understand, but when I call, you're off the wall, you
Paper talk is all I get from you
Paper talk all the way
Paper talk it could be baby talk
Paper talk all the way
The man brings champagne for you
You don't have to tell him to
He does, he's expected to
It's the thing to do, for the man of means, you are
And you talk too fast for me
You don't understand ability
Your game is monopoly
The family tree, dates back to when, your pedigree
Betrays to me, those promises, never to be, again
Paper talk is all I get from you
Paper talk all the way
Paper talk it could be baby talk
Paper talk all the way
Your watch is from Cartier
And time's the only price you pay
To me, living day by day
Your noble chin explains to me
Your blue eyes belie insincerity and I despise
Youre leaving now
Its in your eyes
Theres no disguising it
It really comes as no surprise
To find that you planned it all along
I see it now
Becomes so clear
Your insincerity
And me all starrey-eyed
To think that I would have know by now
{chorus}
Now, sure as the sun will cross the sky
This lie is over
Lost, like the tears that used to tide me over
{only time will tell}
One thing is sure
That time will tell
{only time will tell}
If you were wrong
The brightest ring around the moon
Will darken when I die
{chorus}
{repeat first verse}
{repeat second verse}
{chorus}
{only time will tell}
Youre on your own
Inside your room
{only time will tell}
Youre claiming victory
You were just using me
And there is no one you can use now
{only time will tell}
One thing is sure
We’re headline news
On the hour, it’s on every radio
We got to lie low
Can’t leave any clues
They’re mad as hell
Try to find us but I swear they never will
We got luck on our side
And I know we can’t lose
But I’m ready for
What they’ve got in store
They can try, but
Ain’t nothing gonna stand in our way
Nobody’s gonna stop us
So walk tall, you don’t have to be afraid
As long as I am with you,
Nothing’s gonna stand in our way
Don’t look back
It’s another life, don’t think about the past
Just look to the future
We’ll be alright
Nothing they thought of
Is stronger than our love
Let them try, ‘cause
Ain’t nothing gonna stand in our way
Nobody’s gonna stop us
So walk tall, you don’t have to be afraid
As long as I am with you,
Venus and Mars collide tonight
But I was looking the other way
Still we cannot decide what's right
Each and every day
Pay attention to every detail
Take care of your health
Got a fact that I've been dying to tell you
Been keeping it to myself
Nothing happens for nothing, baby
Everything must have a reason
Nothing happens for nothing, maybe
That's worth believing
You really started something
But it just don't seem to register with me
I see a new day coming
It could set us free
For every action, there's a chain reaction
That we just can't help
Take these words that a good friend once told me
Don't keep them to yourself
Nothing happens for nothing, baby
Everything must have a reason
Nothing happens for nothing, maybe
Here I stand, not so different from the rest
A common man, with an uncommon dream inside
I won’t be satisfied, with the fortunes I’ve been
blessed
For there’s one thing I’ve been denied
Till you arrived, now I’m trying not to break
This spell I’m under
If the heavens would calm the seas, and a hush fell on
every horizon
I would not be amazed, not for one moment
For ‘though we are past the age of miracles
Maybe this one’s overdue
‘Cause I’ve been sent no ordinary miracle
This miracle is you
Here we are, as we face another day, and come what may
We must stand and be counted
As one must hope and pray, for the courage and the
strength
That I never doubted, oh it’s my belief
That a single prayer has the power of thunder
If the heavens would calm the seas, and a hush fell on
every horizon
I would not be amazed, not for one moment
For ‘though we are past the age of miracles
Maybe this one’s overdue
‘Cause I’ve been sent no ordinary miracle
This miracle is you
In a lifetime of chains, it’s never too late
In patience we wait for a gift from the blue
To carry us through, to carry us through…
If the heavens would part the seas so that all hands
could reach to each other
I would not be amazed, not for one moment
For ‘though we are past the age of miracles, maybe this
one’s overdue
‘Cause I’ve been sent no ordinary miracle
This miracle is you
For ‘though we are past the age of miracles, maybe this
one’s overdue
‘Cause I’ve been sent no ordinary miracle
Was it you, gazing out from magazines, magazines?
Sun through the blinds, mornings in Rome
Talking so fine, feeling so low
Bright magazines, strewn on the floor
Took their revenge, chose to ignore
Roman spring, coloured everything with days in store
Was it you, gazing out from magazines, magazines?
Inside information, glossy invitations from
Galaxies of laughing souls
And the wine, made you dance in time
Time to see the dawn
Knights in arms, lie in sympathy, bleeding on the lawn
Was it you, gazing out from magazines, magazines?
Inside information, the glossy invitations
To chronicles of love and pain ...
Come the Fall, on your balcony, against the wall
Feel a chill, turn around to find, no-one there at all
It's a dazzling morning
With a blue sky dawning
When all our sadness dies
And the joy of waking
To a new day taking
The sleep from our eyes
Sensing that you're just a breath away
No shadow of doubt that will remain
Jane
Whenever I need a dream to hold on to
Jane
I can remember loving you
With your spirit in me
For as long as there'll be
Stars up in the skies
And it's never too late
For this moment we'll wait
All of our lives
Sensing that you're just a breath away
No shadow of doubt that will remain
Jane
Whenever I need a dream to hold on to
Jane
I can remember loving you
I can feel you, night conceals you
Waiting for me silently
Jane, there's a light that shines from you
No shadow of doubt that will remain
I can’t believe it came to this
Your expression says it all
The light that frames your face is warm again
And that belies the icy coldness in your soul
I stand and gaze across the lake
Your breath is hanging in the air
The misty window pane obscures the view
Whatever happened to the blazing fire inside?
Fearlessly,
Be honest and stand up now for the man you love
Free yourself, follow every dream
Use all your courage, step into the light
Release yourself, be brave
Then just walk out of the door, nothing more…
I’ve come to take you home
I’m trying hard to take this well
And as the daylight slips away
You must know, we don’t deserve this now,
This kind of living hell
That we went through
No more living in the past
Now we have to let that go
We have to take the chance to live again
To find our way again, the path we both should know
Fearlessly,
Be honest and stand up now for the man you love
Free yourself, follow every dream
Use all your courage, step into the light
Release yourself, be brave
Then just walk out of the door, nothing more…
It's your own life to lead, but the future's not
guaranteed
There may be someone else you need along the way
The going can be tough, so when you know you're had
enough
Just turn around, give in, call it a day
I'll be there, I won't let you down
I'll be there, I'll always be around
I'll be there, I won't let you down
I'll be there, I'll be there
If the next guy you choose turns out to be bad news
Don't let it worry you the slightest, not at all
I'll be sitting by the 'phone, so when you're coming
home
Let it be my number that you want to call
I'll be there, I won't let you down
I'll be there, I'll always be around
I'll be there, I won't let you down
I'll be there, I'll be there
Call on me when all your point of reference
Make no sense at all, don't hesitate just call
I know you had to have your fling
It's only second nature, in the end you're coming
Home to me
I'll be there, I won't let you down
I'll be there, I'll always be around
I'll be there, I won't let you down
Save me, catch me when I fall
Let me trust in what I cannot see
Bathe me, so I feel I have it all
Then leave me here just with this memory
I lay down, and then I close my eyes
Call your name, and whisper ‘let it be’
I lay down, and when I close my eyes
Then I feel you lying next to me
Hold me, at the gates of ecstasy
In the darkest recess you can find
Please no deceit, always constancy
Your ever-changing face within my mind
I lay down, and then I close my eyes
Call your name, and whisper ‘let it be’
I lay down, and when I close my eyes
Mama said it would be alright
Keeping it all to myself
Johnny's secrets would stay out of sight
If they all could stay on the shelf
Papa swore he'd lose his temper
If I breathed a word to a soul
And that no-one would remember
Or believe the stories I told
I've been living an illusion
And things are going from bad to worse
It seems there's only one solution
But the truth is going to hurt
Oh Oh Oh
I can't lie anymore
Mama never did apologize
When I always shouldered the blame
Papa's defense was to terrorize
And I burned with anger and shame
I've got to come out once and scream it
Got to say what's on my mind
Got to rage and shout and mean it
I don't like to be unkind,
But I can't lie, no I can't lie anymore
Only darkness and confusion
Lie behind the bedroom door
I'd like to say that it's been some fun
But the damage is done
There comes a time
When all you have
Can be taken from you,
And all your faith can dissolve
Into space in no time, but
I believe in you
When I look back at all the
Mountains we had to climb and
Rivers to cross which were
Just way too wide to view,
I believe in you
And now we still have the
best of our lives……
As years unfold, then I know
There will be no other love
In my life, I commit and you know it’s true
Here ends another day My emotions locked away And my
darkness is complete as the midnight sky You steal my
confidence My smile is my defense And I turn my face, so you
won't see me cry
How can you be so cold, and so out of control? As you pour
salt into my deepest cut of all My shattered heart, in pieces
now And I'm gazing at the fragments of my life
Hold Me Now, maybe just pretend I could be someone that
you might have loved before Hold Me Now, and let me
believe in a kiss that means nothing to youÉ 'Cause it means
the world to me
Lord above, you sanctify your love And the barrier you built,
forces you not to care Break down that door, take my hand if
nothing more So when I'm falling, then I know that
someone's there
I wondered a thousand times, if I could love again But I will
overcome, what I can comprehend
The honesty I offer you Is as naked as your fear of loving me
Hold Me Now, let it never end Hold me like you've never
done before Hold Me Now, we don't have to pretend Smash
the chains and throw them to the floor Hold Me Now, and let
me believe that a kiss is the way it should beÉ 'Cause it
means the world to me
