Elijah ( /ɨˈlaɪdʒə/; also Elias /ɨˈlaɪ.əs/; Hebrew: אֱלִיָּהוּ, Eliyahu, meaning "Yahweh is my God";Arabic:إلياس, Ilyās), was a prophet in the northern kingdom of Israel during the reign of Ahab (9th century BC), according to the Books of Kings.
According to the Books of Kings, Elijah defended the worship of Yahweh over that of the Phoenician god Baal; he raised the dead, brought fire down from the sky, and was taken up in a whirlwind (either accompanied by a chariot and horses of flame or riding in it). In the Book of Malachi, Elijah's return is prophesied "before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord," making him a harbinger of the Messiah and the eschaton in various faiths that revere the Hebrew Bible. Derivative references to Elijah appear in the Talmud, Mishnah, the New Testament, and the Qur'an.
In Judaism, Elijah's name is invoked at the weekly Havdalah ritual that marks the end of Shabbat, and Elijah is invoked in other Jewish customs, among them the Passover seder and the Brit milah (ritual circumcision). He appears in numerous stories and references in the Haggadah and rabbinic literature, including the Babylonian Talmud.
"The Man" is a slang phrase that may refer to the government or to some other authority in a position of power. In addition to this derogatory connotation, it may also serve as a term of respect and praise.
The phrase "the Man is keeping me down" is commonly used to describe oppression. The phrase "stick it to the Man" encourages resistance to authority, and essentially means "fight back" or "resist", either openly or via sabotage.
The earliest recorded use[citation needed] of the term "the Man" in the American sense dates back to a letter written by a young Alexander Hamilton in September 1772, when he was 15. In a letter to his father James Hamilton, published in the Royal Dutch-American Gazette, he described the response of the Dutch governor of St. Croix to a hurricane that raked that island on August 31, 1772. "Our General has issued several very salutary and humane regulations and both in his publick and private measures, has shewn himself the Man." [dubious – discuss] In the Southern U.S. states, the phrase came to be applied to any man or any group in a position of authority, or to authority in the abstract. From about the 1950s the phrase was also an underworld code word for police, the warden of a prison or other law enforcement or penal authorities.

Elijah King is an American singer and songwriter of Puerto Rican descent.
King was born in Daytona Beach, Florida. With strong influences in gospel music, King started singing at the early age of 5 and by the time he was 7 he was sought out by Disney for the Mickey Mouse Club. However, King’s mother was unsure about exposing her son to the potentially stressful industry of child stardom, so she elected not to let him be a part of it. That did not keep King from singing and he persevered to develop his voice on his own. When he was 15, his family moved to Texas where he continued to practice music throughout his high school years. This led him to receive a music scholarship to the University of the Incarnate Word. He continued to pursue his education in music and attended the International Academy of Design & Technology. He then decided to commit himself full-force to his career, putting school on hold to pursue his lifelong dream. His first taste of success came in 2007 when King signed his first record deal with the independent recording label VIP Music and moved to Miami to start recording his debut album.
Eli-jah! Eli-jah!
Don't start no fires, Eli-jah!
Elijah looked toward Heaven-It got very bright
The fire fell sure enough takin' 50 guys' lives
I've got a feelin'- I'm about to die
Cause I know Elijah's tried that twice
So I'm sayin'
Eli-jah! Eli-jah!
Don't start no fires, Eli-jah!
He's the one
Uh who brought, uh who brought the fire down
Drive those soldiers away
So now I'm gonna meet him-and I wonder what I shall say
I've gotta follow all the king's commands- so here's my plan
I'm gonna shout and holler
"Elijah, save us from senseless slaughter!
"Please won't you go with us; I'm a peaceful man!"
So I'm singin'
Eli-jah! Eli-jah!
Don't start no fires, Eli-jah!
(I'm) givin' up!
Cause you brought, uh-you brought the fire down
(I'm) givin' up!
Cause you brought, uh-you brought the fire down
Blew those soldiers away
The Jordan is waiting for me to cross through
My heart is aging I can tell
So Lord, I'm begging
For one last favor from You
Here's my heart take it where You will
This life has shown me how we're mended
And how we're torn
How it's okay to be lonely as long as you're free
Sometimes my ground was stoney
And sometimes covered up with thorns
And only You could make it what it had to be
And now that it's done
Well, if they dressed me like a pauper
Or if they dined me like a prince
If they lay me with my fathers
Or if my ashes scatter on the wind
I don't care
CHORUS:
But when I leave I want to go out like Elijah
With a whirlwind to fuel my chariot of fire
And when I look back on the stars
Well, It'll be like a candlelight in Central Park
And it won't break my heart to say goodbye
There's people been friendly
But they'd never be your friends
Sometimes this has bent me to the ground
Now that this is all ending
I want to hear some music once again
'Cause it's the finest thing I have ever found
But the Jordan is waiting
Though I ain't never seen the other side
They say you can't take in
The things you have here
So on the road to salvation
I stick out my thumb and He gives me a ride
And His music is already falling on my ears
There's people been talking
They say they're worried about my soul
Well, I'm here to tell you I'll keep rocking
'Til I'm sure it's my time to roll
And when I do
The Jordan is waiting for me to cross through
My heart is aging I can tell
So Lord, I'm begging for one last favor from You
Here's my heart take it where You will
This life has shown me how we're mended and how we're torn

Join this way to me
Join this way to Him
Elijah, I swear that I'll be true
Because Elijah, it's when I think of you
Because Elijah, I know what I pursuit
Because Elijah, so what we gonna do?
Well..
Oh! Yeah!
Oh! Yeah!
Oh! Yeah!
Oh! Yeah!
We'll try to find we're looking for
What we want
What we're looking for
He can't breathe
He can't breathe
He can't breathe
He can't breathe (Elijah)
Elijah, cause the pop is not the glue
It's Elijah, he makes me feel taboo
Because Elijah, he makes me well-to-do
Because Elijah, that's when we rendez-vous
Because...
Oh! Yeah!
Oh! Yeah!
Oh! Yeah!
Oh! Yeah!
We'll try what we're looking for
To find
What we want
What we're looking for
He can't breathe
He can't breathe
He can't breathe
Elijah weeps to the pavement
Hands outstretched and worn
Everyday is getting harder
But what does it matter
She says my love
Oh could you help me
But it resolves to nothing
Her words cry out
Like a flock of black birds
She says could you spare....
But he doesn't bother
Fallen once
Now falling faster
We'll dissolve to laughter
'cause we're all here
But hardly notice
We're not getting better
I wake up early
Grab my things and I'm out the door
Everyday I'm working harder
To keep up the payments
And the rise and the fall
Up above the carpet clouds
Perspective changes
'cause we're wrestling over tiny matters
The majesty
Of all we forget
I'm stuck on a jet plane
And I remember
Fallen once
Now falling faster
We'll dissolve to laughter
'cause we're all here
But hardly notice
We're not getting better
The sky is screaming
We've taken over
So self-important and overdone
Some believe
That we're all angels
Oh my love, it's a long way down
to the bottom when you're high and mighty and sacred,
sacred
But I can't live my life
born in sin and holdin' it in
cause if we're all goin' down
then I am goin' down in style
In a big black car I'll ride
you take me over to the other side
Elijah, Elijah Oh
When I complicate the matters of love
They say pray, it's the only way to get above
Well baby, believe me, it's easy to see
how heaven is lost when you're only lookin' up
In a big black car I'll ride
you take me over to the other side
Elijah, Elijah Oh
I could be a good girl
if that's what they'd like to see
Another Mary Polly and a child
so cover up and sit tight
button up and don't fight
on your knees, beggin' please
for someone to save me
Oooh'
When the big day comes, we'll know
what really mattered most of all
See I had a vision, all I did was listen
and this what I saw
Elijah, Elijah yeah
Elijah, Elijah
Sing it, when you get to the other side, girl
Yeah, we know how very hard you tried, girl
But we're laughin' on the other side
Oh, we're dancin' on the other side
Yeah, we're shoutin' on the other side
In a big black car you ride
I was so sure that a life could exist
My heart held a cross
My heart held a love
But love for me could never stay
It was hate waiting to breathe
And breathe it always has
And breathe it always hill
And I felt new air so many times
But it left me here alone
It left me here to die
Heaven's not a place you go when you die
It's a place you live when you're in love and alive
I was there. But it walked away.
And it feels like I'm dying now
And it feels like I have regrets
I can't change a thing
I'm so sorry I failed love
This rooms become my prison
Of dark days and darker nights
A hate growing like a life
I'd never wish an existence for
Am I the reason your not alive
And im falling to my knees
Have you gone have you gone
I still want to be with you
And if you go, I would go to
I'll find you in a place I never thought true
And see your face as I slipped away
Back to my darkest day
I once had nothing
I once had nothing to lose
The thought that I've torn the smile
From your pale skinned face
I've took your love and ive turned it into hate
And I hate myself for the love I can't show
And I convinced myself
I never asked to be held,
but you made this in me.
Feed it,
I feed it.
My skin knows evil so well
but it never knew you.
And i never asked to be held,
But you made this,
You made this in me.
Feed it,
I feed it.
My skin knows evil so well,
But it never knew you.
And I feed it alone from the disgust
And I held my hands.
I starved you of life when you had just
Shown me love
Shown me love
Shown me love
But still that wasn't
Enough for me.
The taste of you grew so old.
And the touch of your ugly skin.
Stop breathing and feel my sickness
My sickness,
And my bones rotting thin,
Rotting thin.
And i never asked to be held,
But you made this,
And you made this in me.
'Cause my skin knows evil so well,
It never knew you.
You came back to find me.
You came back to find me,
And I didn't deserve for you to care.
Disgust had taken hold of me.
And you hoped that love would stay inside.
But love would ever stay inside,
And i hoped it would stay inside.
But like a cancer creeping slowly
It could never survive.
Never survive
Never survive
Never survive

I’m as scared as a child now
Just leave me on my own
When they’re putting their arms around me
And they’re breathing this into me
My lungs they will never be clean
I’d never breathe this into you, I’d rather bleed
I try to let it breathe
So I tear my self apart
I try to let it breathe
When my own body, it hates me
How can I grow when I’m already old?
I try to let it breathe
I tear myself apart
But everything inside is ruined
To you was I
The birth of another mistake
To you was I
A disease born into your son
When I’ve ripped out the eyes
The only eyes that ever looked up to you
When I grown the legs
That stand up to you
But you still hold my throat
You still hold me down
I can’t even look you in the eyes
Because I’ve lied
Because I’ve lied to you
And every night I’ve spent
I spend unloved
Knowing I might become you
Did I ever stand a chance
When you wouldn’t let me grow?
If the Devil is my son
Then my daughter, she is dead
She held your hand
You took her breath
You drowned her in the hell
That you’ve made
And will it rip through my hands
And will my blood ever land
The grounds as broke as I am
As broken as I am
And I know that she was never real
I don’t want a son that I hate
I would die just to know I could keep my daughter safe
But you think you’re alone
It was never your place to be here
You don’t need anyone
Because I don’t need it
You’ve made me sick
Made me bleed
He wears the mask of my unborn son
I hate you, Devil
I know that you’re a disease
But you befriended me
Now I am afraid of you
I’m afraid to breathe
I feel your blood pour into my veins
Your voice, it speaks through me
I am your son
I am a disease
Hell must live in you
Because God died in me
I am your son, unborn
And I’m wearing the mask of the Devil
If these veins wrap around me
And I’m left on my own
Watch these veins grow inside me
I feel like i've been left here to rot
I swear I used to feel so much more
I can barely breathe
I can barely speak. Honestly.
I don't know where I went so wrong
The truth I never spoke is I'm afraid of dying alone
But I know that's how this ends...
The truth I never spoke is I'm afraid of dying alone
But I know that's how this ends...
Where are you when I need saving
I've never felt this scared before...
Why can't I feel your help
I never thought you were real
I feel like i've been left here to rot
I swear I used to feel so much more...
And I feel like i've been left here to rot
I swear I used to feel so much more...
And I feel like i've been left here to rot
I swear I used to feel so much more...
I've always felt alone but I've never felt like this
