A talk and conversation with Dr. Kate Crosby
This talk looks at the pre-modern meditation practices of Theravada of which only traces remain in Southeast Asia today. These practices have sometimes been labeled as tantric Theravada because of the somatic nature of their practices in which qualities of Buddhahood are internalized by the practitioner. This talk will examine how these practices reflect a shared Indic scientific context with more familiar forms of tantra, but also how they differ and are fundamentally Theravada in their understanding of the relationship between consciousness, the body and Buddhahood.

Theravada
Theravāda (Sanskrit: थेरवाद, Pali, literally "school of the elder monks") is a branch of Buddhism that uses the teaching of the Pāli Canon, a collection of the oldest recorded Buddhist texts, as its doctrinal core, but also includes a rich diversity of traditions and practices that have developed over its long history of interactions with cultures and communities. It is the dominant form of religion in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, and is practised by minority groups in Bangladesh, China, Malaysia, Nepal, and Vietnam. In addition, the diaspora of all of these groups as well as converts around the world practise Theravāda Buddhism.

Theravāda Buddhism is followed by countries and people around the globe, and is:
- Nepal
- Sri Lanka (by 70% of the population)
- Bangladesh (by 0.7% of the population)
- India (0.8%)

The Fundamentals of the Theravāda Doctrine. This is a series of lectures to highlight the salient fundamental tenets which govern the Doctrine preserved under the Tradition of Theravāda. A talk and conversation with Dr. Kate Crosby
This talk looks at the pre-modern meditation practices of Theravada of which only traces remain in Southeast Asia today. These practices have sometimes been labeled as tantric Theravada because of the somatic nature of their practices in which qualities of Buddhahood are internalized by the practitioner. This talk will examine how these practices reflect a shared Indic scientific context with more familiar forms of tantra, but also how they differ and are fundamentally Theravada in their understanding of the relationship between consciousness, the body and Buddhahood.

Theravada
Theravāda (Sanskrit: थेरवाद, Pali, literally "school of the elder monks") is a branch of Buddhism that uses the teaching of the Pāli Canon, a collection of the oldest recorded Buddhist texts, as its doctrinal core, but also includes a rich diversity of traditions and practices that have developed over its long history of interactions with cultures and communities. It is the dominant form of religion in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, and is practised by minority groups in Bangladesh, China, Malaysia, Nepal, and Vietnam. In addition, the diaspora of all of these groups as well as converts around the world practise Theravāda Buddhism.

Theravāda Buddhism is followed by countries and people around the globe, and is:
- Nepal
- Sri Lanka (by 70% of the population)
- Bangladesh (by 0.7% of the population)
- India (0.8%)
