Labor Day or Labour Day is an annual holiday to celebrate the economic and social achievements of workers. Labour Day has its origins in the labour union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest.
Celebrating the Australian labour movement, the Labour Day public holiday is fixed by the various state and territory governments, and so varies considerably. It is the first Monday in October in the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales and South Australia. In both Victoria and Tasmania, it is the second Monday in March (though the latter calls it Eight Hours Day). In Western Australia, Labour Day is the first Monday in March. In both Queensland and the Northern Territory, it is the first Monday in May.
In Bangladesh, it is observed on 1 May and is a Government holiday.

He was considered for the role of Tom Hanson in the series 21 Jump Street; he and Johnny Depp were the finalists for the role, and at that time the two became close and remained friends even after the role was ultimately awarded to Depp. Brolin guest-starred in an episode of the show in its first season.

So you been to the market
And the meat looks good tonight
And the ladies in waiting
Will show you what it's all about
Their selection is inviting
They sure look hot tonight
And the ladies in waiting
Will show you what it's all about
And so you move on down the line
All the ladies are lookin' fine, so fine
Ladies in waiting, ladies in waiting, ladies in waiting
So you move on down the line
All the ladies are lookin' fine
Their selection is inviting
They sure look hot tonight
And the ladies in waiting
Will show you what it's all about
And so you move on down the line
All the ladies are lookin' fine, so fine
Ladies in waiting, ladies in waiting, ladies in waiting
Ladies in waiting, ladies in waiting, ladies in waiting
Ladies in waiting, ladies in waiting, ladies in waiting
Ladies in waiting
On my TV screen
Every Labor Day
Fuckin' Jerry Lewis
Make him go away
Make him go away
Make him go away
He's fucked up my Labor Day
Make him go away
One, two, three, four
Jerry Lewis, I'm comin' to get ya
You're gonna run, you're gonna hide
Jerry Lewis, this squad's gonna get ya
And make you commit TV suicide
Give him 24 hours
He'll do what he please
He'd be on welfare
If it weren't for this disease
Make him go away
Make him go away
He's fucked up my Labor Day
Make him go away
One, two, earth, shoe
Jerry Lewis, I'm comin' to get ya
You're gonna run, you're gonna hide
Jerry Lewis, this squad's gonna get ya
And make you commit TV suicide
His eyes get red
And his voice gets mean
I guess it's what you get
When you take amphetamine
Make him go away
Make him go away
He's fucked up my Labor Day
Make him go away
One, two, three, four
Jerry Lewis, I'm comin' to get ya
You're gonna run, you're gonna hide
Jerry Lewis, this squad's gonna get ya
And make you commit TV suicide
In France they appreciate me
I know that some days it feels like a 9 to 5 deathmarch.
And that's half the waking day taken away.
I'm pretty sure that we imagined something more.
Don't let that fire in your eyes flicker and fade.
They're experts at extinguishing hope, so you better hold it and keep it sclose.
It's a one-round match; you better grab it by the throat.
And don't let go...
I'd like to say hats off to the slash-and-burn architects,
They know exactly where despair and commerce intersect.
They've sloved the equation for the gold rush, soul-crush;
Three hundred million open mouths choking on the surplus.
They don't need you around here anymore
They made all their money now they're closing up the door
You should feel lucky that you've had a job for so long
They say you should have saved while you were still working so suck it up and be strong
They asked you to take a 12% reduction in pay
You said that you would do it but then they closed down anyway
Their 7 digit salaries never were at risk
Although the company was in the red their bonuses were never affected
So get the family together this is a holiday
Put the burgers on the barbecue and pray it don't rain
The tough times are over cause the bad times are here
I pray we don't lose those I wish I could escape just drowning in my beer
Never fear - Labor Day
What they did was really bad, the way they did it even it worse
Last week they said they weren't gonna close down and that's for sure
You had no warning no way to prepare
Always lived paycheck to paycheck how can you live if a paycheck is not there
Just a message on the answering machine, a double lock on the door
No concern for their workers, no respect or dignity for their work
Not even the courtesy of a couple of weeks heads up
The message on the answering machine "Happy holidays you have no job"
There are no jobs left in this town at least none where you can raise your kids
All the factories they left town, all the old man bars hopped up in their stead
A couple beers and some friends can help you forget
They know what you're going through every family in town has gone through it
(and are still going through it)
You hear about it so often you become desensitized
Everyday 2,000 have been laid off and another 500 have been downsized
Its thousands of families who have to find a way
