British Invasion is an American term used to describe the many rock, and pop performers from the United Kingdom who became popular in the United States during the mid-1960s.
The rebellious tone and image of American rock and roll and blues musicians became popular with British youth in the late 1950s. While early commercial attempts to replicate American rock and roll mostly failed, the trad jazz-inspired skiffle craze, with its "do it yourself" attitude, was the starting point of several British acts that would later be part of the "invasion". Lonnie Donegan, who is credited with singlehandedly popularizing skiffle in Britain, had a top 20 US hit with "Rock Island Line" during the 1950s and a top ten US hit with "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavour (On the Bedpost Overnight?)" in 1961, both re-recordings of songs already known in the U.S. for several decades at the time. Young British groups started to combine various British and American styles. This coalesced in Liverpool during 1962 in what became known as Merseybeat, hence the "beat boom". In 1962 "Telstar", an instrumental by The Tornados, became the first U.S. number 1 single by a British rock act. Also that year the folk trio The Springfields featuring Dusty Springfield cracked the U.S. top 20.
Steel Panther is a band from Los Angeles, California mostly known for their profane and humorous lyrics as well as their exaggerated on-stage personas that reimagine and parody the glam metal music and lifestyle of the 1980s. Formed in 2000, the band has formerly been known as Danger Kitty, Metal Shop and Metal Skool. Steel Panther is one of the most popular bands out of Hollywood since Motley Crue, Guns N’ Roses and Poison were the main focus the Sunset Strip in the mid to late 1980's. Arriving in 2009 with debut album Feel The Steel, hailed by Kerrang! magazine as “close to perfect”, Steel Panther has won a legion of fans across the world. And now the band is aiming even higher with second album Balls Out.
The band broke through the mainstream success with their 2009 album Feel the Steel, especially with the single "Death to All but Metal". "The Aldo Nova song "Fantasy" was remade by the band into a faster paced song for the MTV original series Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory. The remake was released on iTunes on December 8, 2009 and their album Feel the Steel was released in June 2009.
Kelly Cutrone (born November 13, 1965) is an American fashion publicist, television personality, and author.
Cutrone was born and raised in Camillus, New York. She attended West Genesse High School, and in 1988 graduated from Syracuse University.
Cutrone has been married twice. At 24, she married Andy Warhol's protégé, artist Ronnie Cutrone, and at 33, married Jeff Kober. Both marriages ended in a divorce. She has a daughter with Ilario Calvo, Ava Cutrone-Calvo (born 2002).
Cutrone left for New York at 21, and began her career in public relations after having been introduced to Susan Blond (a prominent New York publicist) by acquaintance, writer and socialite Anthony Haden-Guest, who had suggested that she become a publicist. Cutrone was Blond's assistant, she recalled, "for six to eight months", until she went on to become director of PR at Spin magazine for Bob Guccione, founder of the adult magazine Penthouse. Less than a year later, frustrated with the lack of power she held at the company, Cutrone set up her own company, Cutrone & Weinberg, with former Susan Blond intern Jason Weinberg. Among their clients were Eartha Kitt, the Smithereens and Whole Earth Mamas.
I'm sick of all these kids i see,
They don't make no fucking sense to me
All they care about is bands from the U.K.
They think they're so fucking punk,
But their eyes are closed and their minds are shut
They don't know shit about the bands from the U.S.A.
[Chorus]
Whatever happened to the American bands
Some how they've been lost
If it's not from U.K. 82
These kids today don't give a fuck
Now don't get me wrong, I like a lot of British stuff
I love Alien Sex Fiend, Napalm Death, and GBH
But what about the bands like Channel 3, Zero Boys, and M.D.C.
All the great bands that came from the United States
[Chorus]
When you dance the same and dress the same
It won't be long til you are the same
You look the same and act the same
There's nothing new and you're to blame
