Plot
A nearly wordless visual narrative intercuts two main stories and a couple of minor ones. A woman, perhaps the Madonna, brings forth her baby to a crowd of intrusive paparazzi; she tries to flee them. Two men who are lovers marry and are arrested by the powers that be. The men are mocked and pilloried, tarred, feathered, and beaten. Loose in this contemporary world of electrical-power transmission lines is also Jesus. The elements, particularly fire and water, content with political power, which is intolerant and murderous.

Plot
Sebastian, Chief Archer in the Roman Army, converts to Christianity. A favorite of Emperor Augustus, Sebastian's devotion to Christ eventually drives him to reject the Emperor's love, causing the Emperor to angrily order Sebastian to be shot with arrows by his fellow archers. The film retells this mystery play with a definite 'art-house' approach: an almost poetical use of language, singing, dancing, some homoerotic themes, and some special effects.

Christ (Greek Χριστός (Khristós) 'anointed') is a translation of the Hebrew מָשִׁיחַ (Māšîaḥ), the Messiah, and is used as a title for Jesus in the New Testament.
Followers of Jesus became known as Christians (as in Acts 11:26) because they believed Jesus to be the messiah (Christos) prophesied in the Hebrew Bible – therefore they often call him Jesus Christ, meaning Jesus the Christos. The word was originally a title, but later became part of the name "Jesus Christ", yet it is still also used as a title, in the reciprocal use Christ Jesus, meaning "The Messiah Jesus". In common usage – even within secular circles – "Christ" is generally treated as synonymous with "Jesus of Nazareth".
Jesus has never been accepted by most Jews as their Messiah. Even the Canonical Gospels recount some Rejection of Jesus. Nonetheless, Nicene Christians await the Second Coming of Christ when they believe he will fulfill the rest of the Christian Messianic prophecy.
The area of Christian theology called Christology is primarily concerned with the nature and person of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Canonical gospels and the letters of the New Testament.

Jesus breaks your heart
Every night when he doesn't come.
All alone, wine bottles and chrome,
I got nothing in my bag for you.
The fire from the sky,
He wants to know your shoe size,
And all the weird shit in your brain,
He's gonna wash it away with blood.
Blood.
He breaks your heart every night when he doesn't come.
Mary, steal the car
Drag it off with the carnival
I could pray,
I could beg you to stay,
But I won't.
Tell him what you like,
He wants to know your dark side,
And all the weird shit in your brain,
He's gonna wash it away with blood.
Blood.
He'll break your heart every night when he doesn't come.
Tell me what you're like,
Come on and flash me those blue eyes,
And all the weird shit in your brain,
I'm gonna wash it away with blood.
Blood.
You break my heart every night we fall apart.
Every night we fall apart.
At the age of 33 and a third, the time that Christ
spent on earth
I decided to cut all ties with showbiz
As the awards piled up in the bath, well I started to
laugh
At all those who died in the name of light
entertainment
Camp Christ, Kitsch Christ, some escapologist Christ
fella
There's an unfunny Christ comedian tied up in my cellar
Fly tipping Christ in a lay-by, All try to catch my
attention
At the age of 33 and a third, the time that Christ
spent on earth
I decided to establish a manifesto
Until we destroy we'll only have ruins
No more masterpieces. No more pseudonyms
Speak in tongues change my identity
Become invisible
I deal in absolutes, no second chances
I'm the Holy Grail of poisoned stanzas
Do I have to end it all like Billy Mackenzie
To get out of the contract?
Arse-licking Christ, false Christ, little self-hatred
Christ
Sex Christ, Death, dumb and blind Christ, Hanging in a
garden shed Christ
Anorexic Christ, Idiot Christ, All try to catch my
attention
At the age of 33 and a third, the time that Christ
spent on earth
Show me show me (3xs)
What about, w-what about the one?
Hold up can anybody really tell me why we stand up
And shout and dance, waving our hands without a purpose
Cause everything I hear today is really really catchy catchy
But I can't quite catch on to the real real message.
*The way, the truth, the life is still Christ but
How would you know from what is shown?
Between what's right and wrong is there separation?
I wanna know where we wen't wrong.
**What about the C.H.R.I.S.T?
Somebody tell me. Somebody tell me.
Why don't we still B.E.L.I.E.V.E
He never changes? His word is ageless
Well here's a wake up call,
Are you for him or against him?
Don't you know that you're losing time-time?
So show me show me.
I wanna see what you're saying.
Don't need no wishy-washy-ness.
That's just not the way we act. No-uh-uh.
Uh-uh~, Oh-uh-uh~, Uh-uh~
What about the one, one?
We're fighting for the only one
Who was and is and is to come.
Will you be ready (when he appears?)
Or will you give in to what sounds good,
Looks good, feels good? Am I understood?
*, **
What you see on MTV, in magazines,
And what society says you should be
Is all designed to deceive and distract you
From the one who died for you.
