Albert Greene (born April 13, 1946), better known as Al Green, is an American gospel and soul music singer. He reached the peak of his popularity in the 1970s, with hit singles such as "You Oughta Be With Me", "I'm Still In Love With You", "Love and Happiness", and "Let's Stay Together". In 2005, Rolling Stone named him #66 in their list of the '100 Greatest Artists of All Time'. The nomination stated that "people are born to do certain things, and Al was born to make us smile." The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted Green in 1995, referring to him as "one of the most gifted purveyors of soul music." Green has sold more than 20 million records.
Green was born in Forrest City, Arkansas. He was the sixth of ten children born to Robert and Cora Greene. The son of a sharecropper, he started performing at age ten in a Forrest City quartet called the Greene Brothers; he dropped the final "E" from his last name years later as a solo artist. They toured extensively in the mid-1950s in the South until the Greenes moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, when they began to tour around Michigan. His father kicked him out of the group because he caught Green listening to Jackie Wilson.
The Bee Gees were a musical group founded in 1958. The group's line-up consisted of brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. The trio were successful for most of their decades of recording music, but they had two distinct periods of exceptional success: as a pop act in the late 1960s/early 1970s, and as prominent performers of the disco music era in the late 1970s.
The group sang three-part tight harmonies that were instantly recognisable; Robin's clear vibrato lead was a hallmark of their earlier hits, while Barry's R&B falsetto became their signature sound during the late 1970s and 1980s. The brothers wrote all of their own hits, as well as writing and producing several major hits for other artists.
Born in the Isle of Man to English parents, the Gibb brothers lived their first few years in Chorlton, Manchester, England, then moved in the late 1950s to Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia, where they began their musical careers. After achieving their first chart success in Australia with "Spicks and Specks" (their 12th single), they returned to the United Kingdom in January 1967 where producer Robert Stigwood began promoting them to a worldwide audience.
Forgive me for all you've done
If I led your eyes to see
If I fed your mind with sickened thoughts
Would you consciously conceive
Everything that I have offered you?
Shame
Stronger than
Pride
Stronger than
Hate
Stronger than
Life
If I lied to you would you still believe?
Mend your soul from my little fucking game
Forgive me for all you've done
Have I made your life a mess?
Is your soul perverted just like mine?
Inconvenienced by distress
Let it go, there's nowhere left to hide
Shame
Stronger than
Pride
Stronger than
Hate
Stronger than
Life
If I lied to you would you still believe?
Mend your soul from my little fucking game
I'm a pet
You could own me
When I say "Own", I mean "love"
I'm twisting thoughts
To catch a feeling
But I'm shy as fuck
Let's all help me mend now, with you
Face off
I'm in awe of you
Somewhat cold
That's a must when you own me
I'm a pet
You could own me
I didn't say
I'll moan and switch off
I'm catching thoughts
To twist a feeling
But I'm dumb as fuck
Let's all help me mend now, with you
Face off
I'm in awe of you
Somewhat cold
That's a must when you own me
I know we're not alright
And this song is no secret
I know we're not alright
To see what we believed
Why are you weeping, yes, I still love you
We fight and fall down and mend
Here drink some water, soon you'll feel better
I know we have all my love
Whatever it was is lost
Whatever you've said forgotten
Why don't we lay down and talk in the morning
Don't cry, just close your eyes and mend
Whatever it was is lost
Whatever you've said forgotten
Why are you weeping, yes, I still love you
Sun sings a long time.
Swallows dive into the mines.
Hollowed hills and hallowed thy name below mine.
Yours is the sign followed.
Dead curses taking me.
Big men are making me fight.
If I can't think of something then I will not do nothing
tonight.
Dead thirst awakened.
My head first is taking it's time.
If I can't think of something take my head first or
nothing tonight.
Tons biting the iron.
Empty breath takes the long line.
Out of depth.
Charges by time, pays by thought. Peace to the kind
suffer not.
You try to pin it down.
You try to pin it down to anyone.
You can't pin it down to any one town.
