Barret, Barrett, or Barretts may refer to:
Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett (6 January 1946 – 7 July 2006), was an English singer-songwriter, guitarist and painter, best remembered as a founder member of the band Pink Floyd. He was the lead vocalist, guitarist and primary songwriter during the band's psychedelic years, providing major musical and stylistic direction in their early work, including their name. He left the group in 1968 amid speculations of mental illness exacerbated by drug use, and was briefly hospitalised.
Besides being a pioneer in psychedelic rock with his expressive guitar playing and imaginative compositions, Barrett was also a pioneer in the space rock and psychedelic folk genres. He was active in music for only about seven years, recording four singles, the debut album (and contributed to the second one), plus several unreleased songs with Pink Floyd; and a single and two albums (plus a third one of unreleased tracks/alternate takes), as a solo musician, before going into self-imposed seclusion lasting more than thirty years.
Jerry Miculek is a speed shooter and competition shooting instructor. He is renowned as one of the fastest revolver shooters in the world, emptying a five-shot revolver in 0.57 seconds in a group the size of a playing card.[citation needed] Miculek currently holds five world records in exhibition revolver shooting.[citation needed] He is married to Kay Clark Miculek, herself an accomplished shooter, holding numerous national and world titles.
In addition, Miculek is an experienced gunsmith who tunes and adjusts his own revolvers for optimum function.
He is endorsed by Smith & Wesson, who created the S&W Model 625JM model in honor of him.
An avid shooter, Jerry holds numerous national and world shooting titles:[citation needed]
Miculek also demonstrated the ability to fire five shots from a revolver on target with a S&W Model 64 ported barrel revolver in 0.57 seconds on September 25, 2003. This nearly matches the record held by Ed McGivern of 0.45 sec (first shot on 9/13/1932, reproduced 4 times on 12/8/1932). Originally recorded as "two-fifths of a second", the resolution of the timing equipment in 1932 was only 1/20th of a second, so the actual figure could have been anywhere between 0.40 and 0.45 seconds.[citation needed]
James Joseph Brown (May 3, 1933 – December 25, 2006) was an American singer, songwriter, musician, and recording artist. He is the originator of funk music and is a major figure of 20th century popular music and dance.
In a career that spanned decades, Brown profoundly influenced the development of many different musical genres. Brown moved on a continuum of blues and gospel-based forms and styles to a profoundly "Africanized" approach to music making. Brown performed in concerts, first making his rounds across the Chitlin' Circuit, and then across the country and later around the world, along with appearing in shows on television and in movies. Although he contributed much to the music world through his hitmaking, Brown holds the record as the artist who charted the most singles on the Billboard Hot 100 without ever hitting number one on that chart.
For many years, Brown's touring show was one of the most extravagant productions in American popular music. At the time of Brown's death, his band included three guitarists, two bass guitar players, two drummers, three horns and a percussionist. The bands that he maintained during the late 1960s and 1970s were of comparable size, and the bands also included a three-piece amplified string section that played during ballads. Brown employed between 40 and 50 people for the James Brown Revue, and members of the revue traveled with him in a bus to cities and towns all over the country, performing upwards of 330 shows a year with almost all of the shows as one-nighters. In 1986, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and in 1990 into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Jocelyn Lorette Brown (born November 25, 1950, Kinston, North Carolina, sometimes credited as Jocelyn Shaw) is an American R&B and dance music singer. Although she has only one Billboard Hot 100 chart entry in her name, she has an extensive background in the music industry and is well known in the world of dance music.
Brown started out in the late 1970s singing on records by studio-created bands like Revanche, Musique, Inner Life, Disco Tex and His Sex-O-Lettes, Cerrone, Bad Girls, Chic, and Change, later singing with Salsoul Orchestra, Soiree or Dazzle in 1979.
In 1980, she appeared in Bette Midler's concert movie Divine Madness singing backup as a "Harlette" along with Ula Hedwig and Diva Gray.
In 1984, Brown released a number of singles in her own name, including "Somebody Else's Guy" (later rerecorded in 1997 by CeCe Peniston), which made it #2 on the Billboard R&B Singles chart (#75 on the Hot 100) and became the title track of her first album (a compilation of tracks from her career to date), released that same year. Although she scored another big Dance (and minor R&B) hit two years later with "Love's Gonna Get You," her solo career never really took off and she continued to sing on other people's records.
BARRETT
She's sparkling clean, this new-born ship
But one old thing is clear
The orders they propose above
We execue down here...
We'll watch form here as up above
They'll catch a whiff of glory
This wonder ship may be brand new
But it's the same old story...
Stoke the fire in the hold
As the men draw back...
Feed the heat in the hold
As the men draw back
And the dust of the coal in the air is black
And a trickle of sweat runs down your back...
And what are the boys from the midlands doing here?
Coal it is that makes the steam
That runs the machines that run the world
That sends the men below the ground
To mine the coal
Each day...
From Leicestershire and Nottingham
Us lads who worked down in the pit
Knew if you got above the ground
You'd save your soul
Some way...
Get out of the pit
And westward I knew I could run
And ship out to sea and there my new life was begun...
And the screws are turning at seventy-one...
It became my dream to go out to sea...
Further out from the mine you couldn't be...
But, born to the coal, there's no place for you elsewhere
You trade a life of dank and gloom
To shovel in the boiler room
But now your seven decks below
A lady's dainty feet...
And nothing has changed
There's nothing a miner can do
The pit and your mates
Turned into the hold and the crew...
And the screws are turnin at seventy-two...
Faster and faster we watch as we gain ever more
Seventy-three, and too soon it is seventy-four...
For a record speed I belive we strive!
For the maiden ship that's too hard to drive
If you push her faster than seventy-five.
That is the truth
I swear!
(Barrett)
It's an idea, someday
In my tears, my dreams
Don't you want to see her proof?
Life that comes of no harm
You and I, you and I and dominoes, the day goes by...
You and I in place
Wasting time on dominoes
A day so dark, so warm
Life that comes of no harm
You and I and dominoes, time goes by...
Fireworks and heat, someday
Hold a shell, a stick or play
Overheard a lark today
Losing when my mind's astray
Don't you want to know with your pretty hair
Stretch your hand, glad feel,
In an echo for your way.
It's an idea, someday...
It's an idea, someday
In my tears, my dreams
Don't you want to see her proof?
Life that comes of no harm
(Barrett)
I really love you and I mean you
The star above you, crystal blue
Well, oh baby, my hairs on end about you...
I wouldn't see you and I love to
I fly above you, yes I do
Well, oh baby, my hairs on end about you...
Floating, bumping, noses dodge a tooth
The fins a luminous
Fangs all 'round the clown
Is dark below the boulders hiding all
The sunlight's good for us
'Cause we're the fishes and all we do
The move about is all we do
Well, oh baby, my hairs on end about you...
Floating, bumping, noses dodge a tooth
The fins a luminous
Fangs all 'round the clown
Is dark below the boulders hiding all
The sunlight's good for us
'Cause we're the fishes and all we do
The move about is all we do
Well, oh baby, my hairs on end about you...
I really love you and I mean you
The star above you, crystal blue

And let me know, alittle more time
Have that love to be,or darling set me free
Look in my eyes, and tell me you love me
Tell me you love me or darling all be gone
