Purvis: God, I'm so tired.::Johner: Sleep when you die, man.
Annalee Call: Jesus Christ, Johner, what do you put in this shit, battery acid?::Johner: Just for color.
Johner: Hey, Ripley. I heard you, like, ran into these things before?::Ripley: That's right.::Johner: Wow, man. So, like, what did you do?::Ripley: I died.
Elgyn: She is severely fuckable, ain't she?
Annalee Call: You're a thing, a construct. They grew you in a fucking lab.
Johner: Right, you're the "new model" droid. You can access the mainframe by remote.::Annalee Call: No, I can't. I burned my modem. We all did.
Ripley: Why do you care what happens to them?::Annalee Call: Because I'm programmed to.::Ripley: You're programmed to be an asshole? You're the new asshole model they're putting out?
Ripley: Who do I have to fuck to get off this boat?::Johner: I can get you off. Maybe not the boat.
Johner: Don't push me, little Call. You hang with us for a while, you'll find out I am not the man with whom to fuck!
Johner: Earth, man. What a shithole.

Plot
London, 1949. 'John Christie (IV)' (qv) is an unassuming, middle aged man who, along with his wife Ethel, manages the apartment building at 10 Rillington Place. His unassuming demeanor masks the fact of being a serial killer. His modus operandi is to act as a person with a medical background, lure unsuspecting women to his apartment on the pretense of curing them of some ailment, knock them unconscious with carbon monoxide gas, gain his sexual release through contact with the unconscious body, then strangle the victim dead before disposing of the body usually by burying it in his back yard. His next intended target is Beryl Evans, a young woman who has just moved into a flat in his building. Beryl's husband, Tim Evans, is an illiterate man who likes to put on airs. Already with an infant daughter named Geraldine, the Evanses learn they are going to have another baby, which they cannot afford to have, nor can they afford to abort the pregnancy. This problem, on top of the constant issue of lack of money in all aspects of their lives, places a strain on the marriage, of which all their neighbors are aware through the constant fighting they overhear. Christie will offer to perform the abortion for free. The difference with this intended murder is that Tim will be aware that his wife will have died, but Christie plans either to goad Tim into keeping silent since the abortion would have been illegal, an act to which Tim would have provided his consent, or pin the murder on Tim who would have motive. Will this change in modus operandi affect Christie's ability to kill Beryl, or kill her without detection?

Timothy John Evans: Don't you worry, Mr Christie, you'll get your money back. I'll be getting a new job shortly I shouldn't wonder. They've asked me if I want to train as a manager or as a managing director or something, you know.::John Reginald Christie: Won't you have to read and write for that?::Timothy John Evans: Oh no, no - you have secretaries, things like that, see.::John Reginald Christie: Yes, as long as I get my 10 shillings back.
John Reginald Christie: Won't you come in a minute...?::Beryl Evans: Well, I've got...::John Reginald Christie: I've just put the kettle on.::Beryl Evans: Oh.
John Reginald Christie: I do know people, medical people, who could help you out.::Beryl Evans: But that would cost money, wouldn't it?::John Reginald Christie: Yes, that's true I'm afraid. They're very eminent men. One particularly I had in mind, I used to assist him in his earlier days, studied with him, its quite a simple matter.::Beryl Evans: You mean you know how to do it, Mr Christie?
John Reginald Christie: It's the moral question that concerns me, the taking of life - no matter how rudimentary.::Beryl Evans: It's not really... I'd be ever so grateful, Mr Christie.
Timothy John Evans: You know what I've got waiting for me when I get home.::Man in Pub: The rent collector.::Timothy John Evans: Tucked up in bed next to my wife.::Man in Pub: What I said, the rent collector.::Timothy John Evans: I'll punch you next time if you don't watch it.::Man in Pub: Cool it, Taffy.
John Reginald Christie: Tim, I dislke this business as much as you do. Just I happen to have picked up this knowledge while I was in training as a doctor before the war.::Timothy John Evans: I didn't know you did all this medical stuff.
Timothy John Evans: How do you actually do it?::John Reginald Christie: That's something only doctors and myself know about, it has to be secret you understand.
John Reginald Christie: This stuff I use, 1 in 10 might die from it.::Timothy John Evans: Die!::John Reginald Christie: Well, that's an acceptable medical risk.
Timothy John Evans: I don't know, Mr Christie.::John Reginald Christie: Well, Tim, if you haven't got complete confidence in my abilities?::Timothy John Evans: I trust you, Mr Christie, of course I do.
John Reginald Christie: Ere, be careful - do you mind!::Workman Willis: Mind the paintwork, mate.::Workman Jones: And the priceless anti-ques.

Christie, don't ever listen
To the words they say
You wouldn't have to change, your ways
Talking to my Christie
Bad times, you felt so helpless
They were so unkind
But now I know that you, are mine
Talking to my Christie
Magic, just the way you look at me
But you don't see
Shadows, closing in
On love's memory
Sunset, just as the Sun goes down
The moon has met
You only have to turn your head
Talking to my Christie
Magic, just the way you look at me
But you don't see
Shadows, closing in
On love's memory
Sunset, just as the Sun goes down
The moon has met
You only have to turn your head
Standing on the corner, of 5th and 39th, watching as the (towers crumble to the ground) world passes by; but, no one seems to notice, the hours in decline. I never thought I'd want 'em back, 'till the day you said goodbye. We've been waiting way too long. Even in better times, it wasnt in my heart to live a lie. We could have better times if you saw the world through a different set of eyes (cue point at eyes motion). Sitting with the lights out, strumming my guitar. Writing confused love songs, and calling it art. The trick to (self expression) writing love songs is knowing where to start. Not the time we spent together, but the time we spent apart.
Through the plains and valleys
Across the great divide
White man brought his thunder
From the other side
Burning smoke and wing of steel
Breathing fire from flaming wheels
Reaching out for a new frontier
Making sure the way was clear
Iron horse, iron horse
Keep on burning on its course
Iron horse, iron horse
Burning on and on
Keep on burning on
Over sand and water
Across the canyon too
Through the crimson sunset
Its mighty whistle blew
Burning smoke and wing of steel
Breathing fire from flaming wheels
Reaching out for a new frontier
Making sure the way was clear
Iron horse, iron horse
Keep on burning on its course
Iron horse, iron horse
Burning on and on
Keep on burning on
Iron horse, iron horse
Keep on burning on its course
Iron horse, iron horse
Keep on burning on
Keep on burning on
Keep on burning on
So long boy you can take my place, got my papers I've got my pay
So pack my bags and I'll be on my way to yellow river
Put my guns down the war is won
Fill my glass high the time has come
I'm going back to the place that I love yellow river
Yellow river yellow river is in my mind and in my eyes
Yellow river yellow river is in my blood it's the place I love
Got no time for explanation got no time to lose
Tomorrow night you'll find me
Sleeping underneath the moon at yellow river
Cannon fire lingers in my mind I'm so glad that I'm still alive
And I've been gone for such a long time from yellow river
I remember the nights were cool I can still see the water pool
And I remember the girl that I knew from yellow river
Yellow river yellow river is in my mind and in my eyes
Yellow river yellow river is in my blood it's the place I love
Got no time for explanation got no time to lose
Tomorrow night you'll find me
Sleeping underneath the moon at yellow river
Yellow river yellow river is in my mind and in my eyes
Evening shadows fill the night
Glowing starlight shining bright
I will be here till morning light comes round again
Nothing can harm you if you trust in me, my friend
Rest your head on my pillow
Until the dawn, until the dawn
Soon the night will pass away
Soon we'll see the light of day
I promised you I'd never leave you alone
So close your eyes and hold me, never let me go
Rest your head on my pillow
Until the dawn, until the dawn
Rest your head on my pillow
Until the dawn, until the dawn
I've been all around this great big world
to Paris and Rome
And I've never found a place that I could
really call my own.
But there'se one place where I know
the sun is shining endlessly
And it's calling me across the sea
so I must get back to SAN BERNADINO.
I remember when I was sixteen
my daddy said to me: You could travel
round this universe until eternity
But you'll never find that peace of mind
that you've been dreaming of.
Not until you finally decide to
come on home to SAN BERNADINO.
I'm longing for SAN BERNADINO!
I'm longing for SAN BERNADINO!
I've been all along the water right up
to the Rio Grande
And I've never found the paradise
they call the Promised Land.
I was young and foolishly I thought
the world was at my feet.
But I'm no diff'rent now and so I'm
homeward bound for SAN BERNADINO.
Well I'm older and I'm wiser and I've seen
the light of day
and I think it's time
to realize my dreams have gone astray.
But I've tried so hard to rech that star
that was so far away.
But now I've got to find that road
that's leading home to SAN BERNADINO.
1st verse
Through the night I gambled
I played a real cool hand
People still remember
They say "There goes that man"
"Who always found four aces"
Lady luck was mine
'Cos I fought and won life's battles
and I made it just in time
2nd verse
"Come on make up the number"
That's all they had to say
"We'll take him for a ride"
It made me wanna stay
Well I taught them a lesson
To stop them foolin' round
The crowd, they really gathered
To see me break 'em down
Chorus
New York city, she's a friend of mine
New York city, she's a friend of mine
People think I cheat and lie
But I don't really care
'Cos in New York city now
People never stare
Well I taught them a lesson
To stop them foolin' round
The crowd, they really gathered
To see me break 'em down
Inside Looking Out lyrics
1st verse
Fifteen hundred miles is a long, long way
And I wish that I could be with you especially today
Standing right beside me is a man with a gun
And he's waiting for the chance to shoot me down if I
should run
'Cos I'm on the inside looking out
And don't you know there's nothing I can do
Chorus
Yes I'm sitting on the inside looking out
And I know that time is slowly running out
2nd verse
I've been here for seven long years doing time
And I just can't take much more of this, I'm gonna lose
my mind
Standing close to me the warden looks me in the eye
I can hear him saying, "Boy, you're gonna be here till
you die"
'Cos I'm on the inside looking out
And don't you know there's nothing I can do
Chorus
3rd verse
As I write this letter there is something you should
know
It's to tell you I don't think that I am ever coming
home
So when you receive this note don't bother to reply
'Cos I don't want you to waste your life the way I've
wasted mine
'Cos I'm on the inside looking out
And don't you know there's nothing I can do
'Cos I'm on the inside looking out
1st verse
If only you were not so far away
I would come to you, I surely would
If only I could find the words to say
I could speak my mind, and you would know
Chorus
If only, if only
There was a way
If only, I knew the reason
But I don't, so I just sing this song for you
2nd verse
If only I had silver wings, I'd fly
If it could be so, I'd be with you
If only time was on my side, I'd try
Nothing would keep me away from you
Repeat chorus
I've Got A Feeling lyrics
I've got a feeling
That you've been doing me wrong
Oh everybody's talking
Said that you've been doing me wrong
Woh, I, I've got a feeling
You've been, you've been telling me lies
Everybody knows, everybody knows
You've been telling, telling me lies
Woh yeah, I've got to find
Some peace of mind
Know that I'll do anything for you
Oh baby don't you know
There ain't nothing, nothing in the world, I won't do
for you
Yeah, I, I've got a feeling
That everybodys', everybody's laughing at me
You treat me like a fool,
And everyone, everyone is laughing at me
Woh, I love you madly
But you treat me badly
Baby, baby what am I supposed to do
Woh now babe, don't you know
There ain't nothing, nothing in the world
That I won't do for you
Well, I, I've got a, I've got a feeling
You don't want me no more
Well baby don't desert me
Gotta Be Free lyrics
I came from the big bright city, that's where I came
from
I've been on the road a long time, been such a long
time
'Cos I'm just a natural travelin' man
Living my life the best that I can
I don't want no chains on me
I gotta be free
I gotta be free
Guess that I was born a rover, guess I was
Can't stay in one place too long, not too long
Man in a suitcase, travelin' light
Just like a flower, I'm growin' wild
I don't want no chains on me
I gotta be free
I gotta be free
I gotta be free
I gotta be free, free
To do as I please
Free, free
Like a bird in a tree
I don't want no chains on me
I gotta be free
I gotta be free
Please don't ask me where I'm going, I don't know
I've just got to keep on rolling, keep on rolling
'Cos I'm just a natural travelin' man
Living my life the best that I can
I don't want no chains on me
I gotta be free
Oh can't you see,
I gotta be free-eee
I gotta be free-eee
1st verse
'Said I was gonna be a rich man
'Said I would go pretty far
'Said I was born to be lucky
Born underneath a good star
I knew all along you was lying
You sure made a fool out of me
I knew from the start you was lying
Apologise to me
Chorus
'Cos all I found was ..
Fools gold
Yeh now, fools gold
Yeh now, fools gold
Man, I was sure taken in
2nd verse
I told you a story of sadness
Of trickery, lies and deceiving
You said I should think of the future
Of honesty, truth and receiving
I knew all along you was lying
You treated me so bad
Well, I knew from the start you was lying
You cheated me so bad
Chorus
Well, I knew all along you was lying
You sure made a fool out of me

1st verse
You tell me I must be strong
And I must keep holding on
Keep the sunshine in your mind
Everything's gonna work out fine

Now my lamp is shining bright

Men zegt van liefde
dat ze zacht is
als een lief
en teder woord
Men zegt van liefde
dat ze hard is
en zo vaak
het geluk vermoordt
Men noemt haar
hunker en verlangen
men noemt haar
redder in nood
Ik zeg dat liefde
als een bloem is
waarop de zon
haar stralen strooit
Ze is het hart
zo bang en breekbaar
zo wankel
en zo broos
ze is de droom
bang voor't ontwaken
omdat ze dan
de waarheid hoort
Ze wacht op wie
haar nu willen plukken
op wie haar tranen steelt
Zo bang
om vroeg te sterven
voor ze werkelijk heeft geleefd
En is de nacht
zo koud en eenzaam
duurt het wachten veel te lang
denk dan maar
dat geluk alleen is
voor wie er hevig
naar verlangt
Denk dan maar
dat bittere winters
en dikke
lagen sneeuw
nog nooit
hebben verhinderd
dat de roos
Working in the city every day
Gotta make a living any way
Never get the time to turn around
Gotta get my feet back on the ground
Living in the city don't bring me no joy
'Cos deep down inside I'm still just a country boy
Since I was a boy I'd played it cool
Never used to worry what I'd do
Now I push a pen from nine till five
Waiting for my pension to arrive
Living in the city don't bring me no joy
'Cos deep down inside I'm still just a country boy
Queen of the River, she's so fine
Gonna take a trip back down the line
Back to the country one more time
Try and find myself some peace of mind
Living in the city don't bring me no joy
'Cos deep down inside I'm still just a country boy
[(J Christie)]
Hey Johnny One Time
What you gonna do
They're looking for you, boy
Hey Johnny One Time
Where you gonna run
They're gonna find you, boy
Don't you know you got a price on your head
They're gonna bring you back alive or dead
Don't you know, Johnny One Time
Hey Johnny One Time
What you waiting for
You better leave this town
Hey Johnny One Time
Don't you realise
They're gonna hunt you down
Don't you know it's just a matter of time
They got your number, it's the end of the line
Don't you know, Johnny One Time
Hey Johnny One Time
What you gonna do
They're looking for you, boy
Hey Johnny One Time
Where you gonna run
They're gonna find you, boy
Don't you know no matter where you go
You're gonna wind up on the end of a rope
Don't you know, Johnny One Time
[(J Christie)]
Feel so lonely down in this heart of mine
Feel so lonely that I think I could die
All by myself in this hotel room
No-one to talk to, I got nothing to do
Oh yeh, hooooo
Look out my window, all I can see is rain
Feel so bad I think I'm going insane
My baby's gone and I don't know why
Don't know the reason, she just said goodbye
Chorus
Oh-ooh, I'm broken in two,
I'm feeling blue, my baby's gone
Oh-ooh, I'm broken in two,
I'm feeling blue, my baby's gone
Don't know what time it is, is it day or night
Feel so confused, I don't know what's wrong or right
All I can tell ya is that I'm feeling down
My baby's gone, made me look like a clown
Oh yeh, hey
[(J Christie)]
Take me to the Martian king
I'm gonna tell him everything
Tell him 'bout the bombs we make
Not to make the same mistake
Take a message to the moon
Tell them that I'm coming soon
Take a message to the sun
Tell him that the devil won
Up into the stars
I'll fly upon your mighty wing
Take me to your leader
Take me to the Martian king
Gonna get a one-way ticket
Gonna get a one-way fare
Gonna get a one-way ticket
Leave the planet Earth
For another world
[(J Christie)]
Ask me what my name is
And look me in the eye
Ask me what my game is
But don't ask me to die
I don't enlist
Because I don't believe in war
Got to resist
Because nothing's worth dying for
Chorus
I'm just a man
And I wanna stay alive
Long as I can
I'm in no hurry to die
Hear what I say
Nothin's gonna change my mind
All I can say
Is that I want to survive
Nothing you can say
Gonna make me change my way
Don't you know I'm a peace-lovin' man
Nothing you can do
Gonna change my point of view
Don't you know I'm a peace-lovin' man
Woh, I'm a peace-lovin' man
Ask me what the time is
Look me in the eye
Ask me where my mind is
But don't ask me to die
I won't enlist
Because I don't believe in war
Got to resist
Because nothing's worth dying for
Gonna take a trip down the Mississippi line
Way down yonder, Georgia's on my mind
Gonna take a ride, gonna spend my money too
Baby, that's what I'm gonna do
There's a lot of places I ain't never have been
There's a lot of faces I ain't never have seen
Gonna take a trip down the Mississippi line
Down to Birmingham, where the corn is high
Gonna take a ride up to Memphis, Tennessee
Back again to New Orleans
Chorus
So come on with me
Come on and see
We're doin' fine, my baby and I
Got a long way to go
We're doing fine, my baby and I
Down the Mississippi line
There's a lot of places I ain't never have been
There's a lot of faces I ain't never have seen
Gonna take a ride down the Mason Dixon line
Down to Macon, Georgia, me oh my
Gonna take a ride, yes I'm gonna take a ride
Down the Mississippi line
[(J Christie)]
Y'say you're pretty good with a paintbrush
Y'tell me that you're painting the Queen
I want you to do me a favour
Look at me and paint what you see
'Cos I want you
To see myself
Standing up
On the shelf
Chorus
Picture painter
Picture painter
Paint me a picture of my life
Paint me a picture of my mind
So I can tell what I'm really like
So I can tell what I'm really like
Now you don't need to try and impress me
'Cos I ain't got the time nor the patience
And I don't want to see a collection
Of Mona Lisa and the Renaissance
I want you
To see myself
Standing up
On the shelf
Repeat chorus
Picture painter, paint me a picture .
Picture painter, paint me a picture .
[(J Christie)]
Doesn't matter that much to me
To live a life of luxury
And I don't want to be a king
Have all my fingers covered in rings
Long as both of my eyes can see
As long as I've got two legs and feet
Well, other things are just formalities
Chorus
Woh, I'm alive, so glad to be free
I'm alive, don't you envy me
I've survived,
All the things I've seen
Places I've been
Do you know what I mean
Just wanna celebrate
Every breath I take
I'm alive
It doesn't matter that much to me
If I don't leave no legacy
And I don't want to sit on a throne
Or walk about in fancy clothes
Long as both of my eyes can see
As long as I've got two legs and feet
Well, other things are just formalities
You turned me down so many times
You can't come back again
You turned me on, just like you should
But now it's got to end
I'm doing fine, I feel alright
So don't come back again
You made your point, it's very clear
So don't you bother me
Chorus
But every now and then I feel it
Every now and then I feel it
Every now and then I feel it, yeh!
Every now and then I feel it
Every now and then I feel it
Every now and then I feel it, yeh!
You're not the same, you've changed your name
Man it's all too much
You're here today, and gone tomorrow
You've got the winning touch
You know I tried, I tried so hard
You slapped me in the face
I'm sick and tired of trying to hide
And win a losing race
Repeat chorus
Every now and then .
[(J Christie)]
Sit down at the table, if you wanna play
Tell me something, mister, do you know my name?
Didn't anybody tell ya who I am?
I guess you oughtta know that I'm a gamblin' man
I don't care which game you choose
I don't mind 'cos you will lose
But before we start to play
There's one thing I wanna say
Chorus
Put your money down, boy
Put your money down, boy
If you wanna play with me
You know you gotta lay your money down
Put your money down, boy
Put your money down, boy
If you wanna play with me
You know you gotta put your money down
Mister you look worried, you don't look so well
But you might just be lucky, you can never tell
People call me poker-face and that's my name
Put your money down, we're playing for high stakes
I don't care which game you choose
I don't mind 'cos you will lose
But before we start to play
There's one thing I wanna say
I never thought I could meet such a man
He never speaks but I know that he can
He makes his money this way:
Gives it all away
He makes money like fools make trouble that way
Chorus
Country Sam's a superman
Always does the best he can
People think he's just a fool
But I know better now
He helped me when he knew I was down
He picked me up just as I hit the ground
Well I couldn't refuse
He knew what to do
I felt happy and then I suddenly knew
Chorus
Even when I'm feeling insecure
Suddenly I see him and he opens up the door
[(J Christie)]
Well, here I am, baby, waiting for you to come back
Here I am, baby, waiting for you to come back
You know I ain't gonna move until you decide to come back
Well, here I am, baby, waiting for you to come home
Here I am, baby, waiting for you to come home
You know I ain't gonna move until you decide to come home
Well, you treat me bad
You drive me mad
But you're still the best woman I ever had
Come on, hey, hey, come on
Because I ain't gonna move until you decide to come home
Here I am, baby, waiting for you to come back
Hey, hey, here I am, baby, waiting for you to come back
You know I ain't gonna move until you decide to come back
Well, here I am, baby, waiting for you to come home
Hey, hey, here I am, baby, waiting for you to come home
Because I ain't gonna move until you decide to come home
Hey don't you know
I'm all alone
So get on back, baby, where you belong
Come on, hey, hey, come on
[(J Christie)]
When you look in my direction
Will you tell me what you see
Can you see your own reflection
In a face you've never seen
Do the eyes look full of sorrow
With the tears of yesterday
You don't even know my name
You don't know what's in my brain
You might think you recognise me, but you're wrong
Chorus
I'm a man of many faces
And I'm changing all the time
I'm a man of many faces
Which one is mine
I'm a man of many faces
Can you see through my disguise
I'm a man of many faces
Tell me which one is mine
Well you say that I remind you
Of a person you once knew
And in your imagination
You might really think I do
If I told you my life story
Would you change your point of view
You don't even know my name
You don't know what's in my brain
You might think you recognise me, but you're wrong
[(J Christie)]
Pleasure and pain, It's one and the same
When you find the one you like best, It's only a test
How long you're gonna stand the strain
Sun shining bright, But you don't realise
That blue skies are gonna turn grey
You gotta take the sun with the rain
Pleasure and pain
Pleasure and pain, It's all in the game
If you think you got what it takes, To drive without brakes
You're making such a big mistake
'Cos over the hill, There's a bittersweet pill
To swallow but you can't complain
You're living from day to day
Pleasure and pain
Then for no reason
You feel the wind has changed
Another season
It has to be that way
See how the wheel turns
It's sweet now, but it may turn sour
Pleasure and pain, It's one and the same
When you think you've got to the top, Count the money you've got
But you've just got a lot of heartache
A brand new toy, Gonna give a lotta joy
But it don't last forever and a day
Living from day to day
Pleasure and pain
You know you gotta take the sun with the rain
Pleasure and pain
You better get used to the change
So long boy, you can take my place
Got my papers, I've got my pay
So pack my bags and I'll be on my way
To Yellow River
Put my gun down, the war is won
Fill my glass high the time has come
I'm going back to the place that I love
Yellow River
Yellow River, Yellow River
Is in my mind and in my eyes
Yellow River, Yellow River
Is in my blood, it's the place I love
Got no time for explanations, got no time to lose
Tomorrow night you'll find me sleeping underneath the moon
At Yellow River
Cannon fire lingers in my mind
I'm so glad I'm still alive
And I've been gone for such a long time
From Yellow River
I remember the nights were cool
I can still see the water pool
And I remember the girl that I knew
From Yellow River
Yellow River, Yellow River
Is in my mind and in my eyes
Yellow River, Yellow River
Is in my blood, it's the place I love
Got no time for explanations, got no time to lose
Tomorrow night you'll find me sleeping underneath the moon
At Yellow River
Yellow River, Yellow River
Is in my mind and in my eyes
Yellow River, Yellow River
1st verse
All along the magic highway
There's a friend of mine
He was once a king of Egypt
Now he's way behind
All at once his life had ended, never to regain
Love and peace and all his friendship, will never be
the same
2nd verse
All along the magic highway
There's a friend of mine
He was once a king of Denmark
Now he's way behind
While the Skagerrak was rising, all along the sand
He stood on his castle weeping, his head was in his
hand
Chorus
Ride the magic highway
Ride the magic highway
Ride the magic highway
Ride
3rd verse
All along the magic highway
There's a friend of mine
He was once man named Tommy
Now he's way behind
People gathered round his bed to watch him fade away
They didn't know how glad he was to give it up that day
