Cawthorne is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley in South Yorkshire, England. The village was once the centre of a localised iron and coal mining industry, though today it is the centre of a very affluent commuter belt, west of Barnsley. At the 2001 census it had a population of 1,108.
It has a choral society, a brass band,[1] a village museum, a stately home (Cannon Hall), and a Young Farmers Club. The local charitable club Cawthorne wives (previously Cawthorne young wives) holds regular meetings and constantly raises money for local and national charities. Young people are catered for by the thriving drama club, Grass Roots, which produces an annual play ranging from comedy to Shakespeare. Every four years the village also produces a Community Drama in the grounds of Cannon Hall involving the band, choral society and 100 actors from the village. In 2000 this was One Breath and in 2004 Time and Chance.[2] The next production is scheduled for 2009. The village pub, the Spencer Arms is so-called in recognition of the village's association with the Spencer-Stanhope family who once owned large swathes of the local area: Their family home was situated at Cannon Hall, the park of which borders the village. Cannon Hall is now a museum run by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. Nearby visitor attractions include Cannon Hall Farm.

His own web site refers to a description of his home as a "book-writing factory" and says, "More than half my books were commissioned by publishers and packagers for a flat fee or for a reduced royalty". One of his most notable works was Taking Back My Name, an autobiography of Ike Turner, with whom he spent a number of weeks working with him on, taking up residence in Turner's house. Hours change as seasons show just like before
My feet are chained to stakes and i will never soar
They always asked me for keys to open gates
But tell me why we think a promise land awaits
They always asked me for keys to open gates
But how weould i know? But how would i know?
Look! I'm melting
Living more like the ones we claim to hate
We'll try this one more time
Please your peers with a promise, priorities
We'll try this one more time
fill me with another glass to pass along this demons grsp now!
They say this time it's different, of course this time it's different (x2)
There's no hero in me now, and im melting inside.
There's no heros, There's no heros
There's no heros, There's no heros
There's no heros, There's no heros
Did you forget how to fly
Or were your wings torn from the bone
You used to fly so sweetly on a breeze
You whispered sweetly you are the anchor
That has give my spirit a license to soar
But now you're grounded
Not by a blade or word but scarred by separation
You traded your freedom for open rotting wounds and chains
If I called you by your name deserved
A disguested look would soon return
Why disguise your given looks?
...or make it up to match the books?
My glass is never full, i'm a natural.
In a world you can touch, i'm a natural.
There's no hope now. There's no hope for you!
Tempt me not to bring upon
A list of truths you wish were wrong
The terrafying twist of lies
Bestowed on those which you despise.
The double clicks will get your fix through all of this
it's natural.
See I am one of those you seek, a lesser form of you(x2)
See I am one of those you seek.
You're the one who's built this jail.
See I am one of those you seek.
What's with these lights?
is this an interrogation?
What's with these lights?
Third degree in the masses eyes
What's with these lights?
Is this an interrogation?
What's with these lights?
I've got nothing at all to say
Beggar with a soapbox
Kinesiatic with pride
Beggar with a soapbox
But i've got nothing to say
Build a bigger soapbox
the nothing just gets louder
this is just another instance of strategically placed stagnation
move along
nothing to see here
this is just strategic stagnation
all our stomachs growl for the same thing
just another fix to us inside
eat, sleep, lather, rinse, repeat
Whats your name, Whats your name son..say whats your real name?
What have i become? im so in love with myself again(x2)
All this time i never knew that what you meant was what you said.Oh no, What's that..100th time, the 100th time
Whats your name son?
whats your real name?
whats your name son?
whats your real name?
I'm so in love again
what have i become? im so in love with myself again(x2)
i dream of days when i can smile never doubting not a day when what you want is nothing more than what you've got.
i cant stand beside you while you to inside
Forthcoming entry of pain
I will be the poison shot into your heart
I will be the one to end your life
I will beat you to the ground
I will see you wither like a rose
Turning black and turning blue
Like any flower in the frost
Death has come for you
Reach for the sky
this is a stickup
You saw me so much better than I did
You knew everything about me
I wanted to trust in you
But I somehow never could
I have seen it in your eyes
You saw clearly into my heart
But as I walk away
I can see the flame licked wreckage
And the smoldering ash
I can remember your eyes mirroring my soul
With these embers all around me
I realize how numb ive become
Their warmth reminds me
How much I miss your touch
And I refuse to remain this way
All you love has come and gone,
and everything that you know has come undone,
you better have fun,
when the truth is on the run,
cause you lie to yourself and everyone,
you better have fun, you better have fun,
you better have fun, you better have fun,
you better have fun, wow,
count your friends, it won't take long,
including yourself you'll find you only have one,
you better have fun,
so listen to me, for what it's worth,
when your clouds lost its silver lining,
it's gonna get worse, it's gonna get worse, yeah,
you better have fun, you better have fun,
you better have fun, you better have fun,
all right fellas, fun, you better have fun,
better have fun, yeah you better have fun,
you'd better have some fun, you better have fun,
Softly whisper in your ear, softly whisper in your ear,
softly whisper in your ear, softly whisper in your ear,
softly whisper in your ear, softly whisper in your ear,
softly whisper in your ear, softly whisper in your ear,
softly whisper in your ear,
softly whisper in your ear, I want it all but it's not
here, you've changed a lot in a year, bye bye,
broken halos never mend, sadness is completely in,
smiley face waves, bye bye,
ahh, la da da da, da da da,
softly whisper in your ear, I want it all but it's not
here,
you've changed a lot in a year, bye bye,
sigh, la da da, la la da,
softly whisper in your ear, softly whisper in your ear,
la da da da softly whisper in your ear, softly whisper in
your ear, la da da da, softly whisper in your ear, softly
Tonight i died

The resistance falls beneath our onslaught.
Unstoppable force, watch our numbers grow.
Join our dark army it only costs your soul, and a box of hair dye.
Tom the overlord owns all your friends.
And you'll never stop us, were better dressed than you.
Organized melodrama, the world according to popularity.
Your friends are numbered.
Well help you count the bodies.
Your friends are numbers.
Well give you one as well.
We are a sophisticated ego mass.
But were all afraid, we all live in fear.
We assemble every weekend,
Well turn this world into a soap opera.
Lights, camera, action.
The past is there for all to see
the past is there for all to see
the past is there for all to see
the past is there for all to see
I see you through you
We'll see right through you
The past is there for all to see
the past is there for all to see
I see right through you
With all the good times, when you want some,
where is the fun,
into your open arms, I will run,
we'll have funny fun fun fun,
I hear voices, from the angels,
I hear voices, from the angels,
I drove my beetle, to the bottom of the ocean,
good times here we come,
feeling faded, super-psycho sedated,
I bet on living but the dealer won,
I hear voices, from the angels,
I hear voices, from the angels,
I hear voices, from the angels,
lay your head down, go to sleep,
lay your head down, go to sleep,
lay your head down, go to sleep,
lay your head down, go to sleep,
lay your head down, go to sleep,
I hear voices, from the angels,
I hear voices, from the angels,
I hear voices, from the angels,
I hear voices, from the angels,
I hear voices, from the angels,
I hear voices, from the angels,
I hear voices, from the angels,
The night pretends not to notice im the only one who s yet to sleep
For the moonlight cast the shapes that fit me best
Day time brings those who this and that but see not what my eyes do
Carried across these colored maps by the cloak of could this be
My eyes see these light-less canvases as beauty at its best
but something tells me im not like the rest
As the sun comes down i look around and realize this is home
Make believe youre paths of excellence mean more because the daylight.
And that my means of life are insufficent, yea youre right
the night pretends not to notice im the only one whos yet to sleep
for the moonlight casts the shapes that fit me best
Praise the night time. You could have seen this coming
Praise the night time. You could have seen this coming
Praise the night time. You could have seen this coming
Praise the night time. You could have seen this coming
Day time brings those who this and that but see not what my eyes do
Carried across these colored maps by the cloak of could this be
My eyes see these light-less canvases as beauty at its best
but something tells me im not like the rest
I'm not liek the rest
I don't care how blue your eyes are, you'll never get away.
Tongue tied to that spread eagle traffic jam leper,
Its a party on the interstate.
Everyone's just pulling in.
Everyone's just getting off.
What lies between is just another ride to us.
Dont hold on for too long,
That gal aint what she used to be.
Fast lane to fornication,
Just watch out for spare parts,
Discarded in the frenzy.
Weve been riding this for far too long now.
I'm breaking my back
To hold this all together
Inside my place
I think I'm hiding itself
Secretly im wishing
His heart would stop
So mind your son
I'm not a kid
Try and I try and I try and I try
I'm breaking my back for them
Try and I try and I try and I try
We're too late for him
Who am I?
Who the fuck are you?
Secretly I'm wishing
His heart would stop
So mind your son
I'm not a kid
Sleep with both of them Mr Monroe
And your acts will get you nowhere!
Try and I try and I try and I try
I'm breaking my back for them
Try and I try and I try and I try
We're too late for him
This ain't a test
You'll live with this
Tell me sir,
What's your secret?
You got more tricks than a fucking magician!
Secretly I'm wishing
His heart would stop
So mind your son
I'm not a kid
Sleep with both of them Mr Monroe
And your acts will get you nowhere!
NOWHERE!!
I'm sick, tired, of living, like this,
feel like, killing, another, just to steal a kiss,
and when it's gone, there's not a single reason I want to
live, when it's gone, there's not a single reason I want
to live,
and when it's gone, there's not a single reason I want to
live, when it's gone, it's gone,
well I'd like to say to you, is everything okay,
and what I'd love to do, is drink a milkshake with you,
and when it's gone, there's not a single reason I want to
live, and when it's gone, there's not a single reason I
want to live, and when it's gone, there's not a single
reason I want to live, and when it's gone, there's not a
single reason I want to live, and when it's gone, there's
not a single reason I want to live, and when it's gone,
there's not a single reason I want to live, and when it's
gone, there's not a single reason I want to live, when
it's gone, there's not a single reason I want to live, to
Dance, just dance
[Chorus:]
This is a test for all of you
To show us just what you can do
You've got a stage inside us all
Feel the music, dance on and on
Dance to your heart's content [x2]
Come free yourself, feel this flow
Tonight let go
My Cinderella, I'm dancing all alone
I'm like a prince without a crown
You know you like my moves, presenting at my best
And if you're lucky, you might be my princess
[Chorus]
Let's get this party started, let's start the dance war
Grab your partner, toss and turn
This song is almost over, don't be the only one
Let's break it down, right around, fucking-absoson
(???)
My Cinderella, I'm dancing all alone
I'm like a prince without a crown
Dance to your heart's content [x2]
And all will see just what you've got
Fucking drop it like it's hot
Come free yourself, feel this flow
Tonight let go
Mark my words, but make them not with darkest pigment
pay heed, but money doesn't grow on trees
don't let them hear you walking closer
screaming whispers yes you hear me
freed from your eyes
screaming whispers yes you hear me
we'll bring their demise
Thinking maps were made for us to follow
You showed me light was near, The brightest light is here
We tend to always cling to comfort
Now I'm your greatest fear, the brightest light is here
Hearing things we've been told a thousand times
making judgments, selling lives $9.95
Teach me of the ways to tear apart this structure
Screaming whispers, screaming whispers
This land is bare, It's all so unfamiliar
We'll find our way back home.
We'll find a way, we always find a way.
You know we'll find a way, find a way back home now.
Find a way back home tonight.
We'll find our way back. Home now! Find a way back home tonight.
We'll find our way back. Home now! Find a way back home tonight.
We'll find our way back home.
Thinking maps were made for us to follow
You feel as if the ground is folding
The playing field has never been on your side
Blame them all for the pain you're inflicting
Look at you, you're just along for the ride
Team with those who sympathize for your weakness
Environments that hold and never let go
Never let go!
If lust is trust, If lust is trust, if lust is trust
than can call me your savior.
If lust is trust, if lust is trust, if lust is trust
THE SKIN OF LIARS ALWAYS TASTES THE SWEETEST
She always tastes the sweetest.
You feel as if the ground is folding
The playing field has never been on your side
Blame them all for the pain you're inflicting
Look at you, you're just along for the ride
This nightmare haunts the inside of your eyes,
Whether in sleep, or wide awake, or somewhere that lies between.
A womans silhouette, perfect in every way, now thrown into darkest regret.
And as she begins to fade, you hear a voice that pierces the dark:
'You never came for me.'
Ive always been alone in love.
An 'IOU' note signed by love herself.
Id never doubted, tomorrow will be the day when every mans hero will be mine.
Tomorrow never came.
This promise Ive held onto for so long,
But tonight I'll hold a lie, and my love will never be the same.
My head screams at me,
'End this fairy tale,' 'love will not be found,'
'open up your eyes and see youve only loved a lie."
I killed the perfect lover.
I buried her inside my heart.
In the blink of an eye, like the shot of a gun,
Ive become the loneliest boy ever.
Faithless, dishonest, impatient and a whore,
Take all you need from me
I give it all to you
but still i fell like a slut
its just the thought that sticks
the awful thought of it
frigid fingers are making me sick
(chorus)Dont you like me inside/out its days like these
i never doubt (chant) CANT BELIEVE THAT WE CALL THIS
LIFE Dont you like me inside/out its days like these i
never doubt CANT BELIAVE THAT WE CALL THIS LIFE
these are the lives we lead
just like a cut they bleed
infected lies like battle wounds
and when your time has come
with the battle far from won
you'l be the one who has to chose
these are the live we lead
just like a cut they bleed
infected lies
infected lies
Inside/out astounded
what makes us think disgust is right?
step back
am i sick
i feel this way when right turns wrong
Inside/out astounded
what makes us think disgust is right?
step back
am i sick
i feel this way when right turns wrong
(chorus)
Dont you like me inside/out its days like these i never
doubt CANT BELIEVE THAT WE CALL THIS LIFE dont you like
me inside/out its days like these i never doubt CANT
BELIEVE THAT WE CALL THIS LIFE
(bridge)
(breakdown)I think i might throw up I think i might
throw up
(chorus)
Dont you like me inside.out its days like these i never
doubt CANT BELIEVE THAT WE CALL THIS LIFE dont you like
me inside/out its days like these i never doubt CANT
BELIEVE THAT WE CALL THIS LIFE CANT BELIEVE THAT WE
CALL THIS LIFE
I've tried turning you over and over,

I've made, I've made up my,
I've made, I've made up my,
I've made, made up my mind,
I've made, I've made up my,
I've made, I've made up my,
I've made, made up my mind,
I don't wanna' see your smiling face,
because you're coming in last
in the great love race,
you can touch me, kiss me,
do what you will,
because I've swallowed handful
of sleep-alone pills,
I've made, I've made up my,
I've made, I've made up my,
I've made, made up my mind,
I've made, I've made up my,
I've made, I've made up my,
I've made, made up my mind,
take my hand and I'll show you the way
to the end of the line
where you're going to stay,
you're going to stay,
there's a place in my heart
that I want you to know,
that it's empty and hollow,
but I think you should go, yeah,
I think you should go,
and I was thinking,
I've made, I've made up my,
I've made, I've made up my,
I've made, made up my mind,
I've made, I've made up my,
I've made, I've made up my,
I've made, made up my mind,
I've made, I've made up my,
I've made, I've made up my,

3rd page, 4th page a never ending story
We've gone too far this shining star is duller than we thought
This shining star is duller than we thought.
Still we fight we march to war
Never knowing when we'll fall
Fueled by a call to cleanse a call
From our god to spill...your blood
We are tireless
We are loveless
We show no mercy
And we know not peace
And our war will end
With your head on a stake
This fire in our eyes
Will guide you to eternity
We spare not the weak
And we spare not the cowardly
And this fire will guide you
Our Peace is in death
Your fate lies on our blades
Evil man dead man
Rest in ashes
Take this in hand, said he who stands,
behind the chair, a broken table there,
every Christian lionhearted man will show you,
every Christian lionhearted man will show you,
don't walk so tall, before you crawl,
for every child, is thinking of something wild,
every Christian lionhearted man will show you,
every Christian lionhearted man will show you,
every Christian lionhearted man will show you,
I have a drink in one hand, a crumpled twenty in the
other, I've never felt better,
smoked two more cups of coffee, ground up all of my
cigarettes, I always forget,
like Jack and Coca-Cola, they say we always go
together, but you go down better,
don't touch me there, don't touch me there, don't touch
me there, don't touch me, don't touch me there, don't
touch me there, don't touch me there, don't touch me,
I've killed the fun forever, I feel my hearts been
tarred and feathered, you've never looked better,
I need my motorcycle, I want to leave here now forever,
forever is never,
who loves and rides away, will live to see another day,
skinny, I can't stay,
don't touch me there, don't touch me there, don't touch
me there, don't touch me, don't touch me there, don't
touch me there, don't touch me there, don't touch me,
feel like I've been hit with it, she's a helicopter
propeller, I never felt better,
don't touch me there, don't touch me there, don't touch
me there, don't touch me, don't touch me there, don't
touch me there, don't touch me there, don't touch me,
don't touch me there, don't touch me there, don't touch
me there, don't touch me, don't touch me there, don't
touch me there, don't touch me there, don't touch me,
let me under your sweater, let me under your sweater,
let me under your sweater, let me under your sweater,
let me under your sweater, let me under your sweater,
Each time you open your mouth, I want to rip your heart out.
Each word you say to me is designed
To make me hate myself worse than I have ever hated you.
With you the scene is a battlefield,
Death to all who don't look like you.
With you the scene is a war,
but you wear a uniform too.
You say that were face, you say that were talent less,
But you dance just the same.
You are a coward, you don't want a unity,
All you want is uniformity.
So much for your claims of acceptance and brotherhood.
You are a heartless snake,
I hope one day you face your vision,
And it destroys you like the dream you claim to embrace.
How does it feel to find you've lost your sight to a distraction so complete you had no idea it was happening to you?
Took your eye off the ball and now you've lost sight of all your goals, you can't focus on the dreams you've been blessed with
the sound of tearing might wake the neighbors up,
but how else am i supposed to get you off me.
youve been writing my own clichs,
and isnt it cute how apathy makes everyone smile.
somebody please help this man he looks nearly dead,
hacksaw in hand and a new convertible head.
"i had to feel something, or die trying."
this one last inevitably written clich.
edged with irony seems to have left us both,
with one truth: "the beast cannot live without host."
so without thought, starve sycophant.
I haven't slept since Wednesday evening
There is no sleep with all this grieving
No music here where once was singing
Where once was singing
We are like ghosts here on Rathlin Island
All fleshless bone, all shamed and silent
Our feet are stone where once was dancing
Where once was dancing
Sail away, love, from the island
Sail out on the sea
Turn a blue eye back on Rathlin
An baile i mo chroí
The waves are pounding Slough na Morra
Hundreds will sail, hundreds left mourning
We will look back, beimid ar marthan
Beimid ar marthan
Ochon is ochon, the hills are wailing
Carve our names in Clogh na Screeve
Ochon is ochon, the ship is sailing
In ainm Dé, in ainm Dé a rach faimíd
Today I walk Raghery's headland
The welcome is warm here on the island
Seventy strong, it's hard to leave them
It's hard to leave them
Sail away, love, from the island
Sail out on the sea
Turn a blue eye back on Rathlin
An baile i mo chroí
Sail away, love, from the island
Sail out on the sea
Turn a blue eye back on Rathlin
Emma worked a lifetime toward her better life
She built up her shelter in the prayers of younger nights
She made hard choices; she measured every one
Somehow she carried with her what she was running from
Chorus
It's a long road that has no turn
You need a little rest to accept what you have learned
Then you will turn
Emma gave him everything and vowed to leave no scars
Still the child she loved chose the darkness of the bars
Where did she go wrong, she tries hard to recall
She has seen her love not make a difference at all
Chorus
Bridge
Leave those dreams down on the side of that road
You can stand there forever, but you can't make them get up and go
Believe me, I know
Emma walked a lifetime down that almighty road
Missing all the signposts, looking out for holes and stones
Sometimes life leaves you threadbare to the bone
And strips away every voice but the one that is your own
'Twas the wild flowers I preferred
Who owed nothing to nobody
But blossomed in the ditches
And made their own way in the world
'Twas the wild flowers I admired
Who never done nothing to you
But driven from the garden
Sang their own songs in the spring
You can have your lily, you can have your rose
That were taken and broken and bred by men
They were grafted and lamed
Twisted and tamed
But the wild flowers I enjoyed
They had nothing to do with you
They flowered by the roadside
And wore their own colors in the sun
That were there before you, will be there after you
That will out, that will out like your own true nature
You can try, you can try
That you will never defeat
The wild flowers I enjoyed
They had nothing to do with you
Banished from the garden
They made their own way in the world
They sang their own songs in the spring
Come pledge again your heart and your hand
One grasp that never will sever
Our password be our native land
Our motto, love forever
And let the orange lily be
Your badge, my patriot brother
It's the everlasting green for me
And we for one another
Behold how green the gallant stem
On which the flower is blooming
How in one heavenly breeze and beam
Both flower and stem are glowing
The same good soil sustaining both
Makes both united flourish
But cannot give the orange growth
And cease the green to nourish
The more the hand that plucks that flower
Will vainly strive to cherish
In that hour the stem blooms on
The flower, it begins to perish
Regard them then of equal worth
While last their genial weather
The time's at hand when deep in earth
They will both sink together
And though it be in our country's cause
Our party feelings blended
'Til lasting peace from equal laws
On both will have descended
'Til then the orange lily be
Your badge, my patriot brother
It's the everlasting green for me
And we for one another
Somewhere along the road
Someone waits for me
Beyond the present storms that blow
Waiting patiently
No secrets held in an open heart
A spirit that soars over mountains
Somewhere along the road
Someone waits for me
Somehow a guiding light
Always shows the way
To those who lose their way by night
Searching for the day
A day away from happiness
Tomorrow will bring a new sunrise
Somewhere along the road
Someone waits for me
Sometimes when winds are still
Unexpectedly
Perhaps beyond this silent hill
A voice will come to me
Raise your eyes and see my world
Raise your voice and sing out
Somewhere along the road
Someone waits for me
Somewhere along the road
Someone waits for me
Beyond the present storms that blow
Waiting patiently
No secrets held in an open heart
A spirit that soars over mountains
Somewhere along the road
Someone waits for me
Somewhere along the road
When first we met, complete awkward strangers
We did not know if we could be friends
How soon we've come for to know each other
And now I know we will meet again
Chorus:
So here's to you and our time together
I'll share with you a parting glass
And I'll bid adieu with some smiles and laughter
Our time apart will be short and pass
We've talked of dreams and of new tomorrows
Of yesterday and its dark despair
We've had our share of love and sorrow
And now we part as friends who care
So here's to you and our time together
I'll share with you a parting glass
And I'll bid adieu with some smiles and laughter
Our time apart will be short and pass
A long, long road, it lies before me
And fate will take me where it will
But through the valleys and over mountains
I'll not forget, but remember you still
So here's to you and our time together
I'll share with you a parting glass
And I'll bid adieu with some smiles and laughter
Our time apart will be short and pass
So here's to you and our time together
I'll share with you a parting glass
And I'll bid adieu with some smiles and laughter
In Monument Valley we ride
Myself and my Navajo guide
I'm moved by the majesty
that lives here in this place
His native home,
the dry desert of his race
I don't know these mesas or these lands
Like the fields my mother plowed beside her dad
And I hold every story that her father told to me
As dear as myths of the Anasazi
We ride on and sing our peoples' songs
From roots that run as deep as they do long
And although I was born here and raised in this nation
The blood is strong in the first generation
My grandmother swept a dirt floor
As the Navajo did here before
Kayenta and Kerry may be wide water apart
But we're alike in the deep core of the heart
I've seen the sun set at The Sun's Eye
Left an echo in The Hogan nearby
A song of my people that my mother gave to me
In my tribe music is blood memory
As I look at the valley down below
It is green just as far as I can see
As my memory returns, how my heart does yearn
For you and the days that used to be
High on a mountain living free
Thinking about the days that used to be
High on a mountain standing alone
Wondering where the years of my life have gone
I wonder if you ever think of me
Or if time's blotted out your memory
As I listen to the breeze blow gently through the trees
I'll always cherish what you meant to me
High on a mountain living free
Thinking about the days that used to be
High on a mountain standing alone
Wondering where the years of my life have gone
High on a mountain living free
Thinking about the days that used to be
High on a mountain standing alone
Now in sailor's clothes Granuaile did go
A bold sea captain from top to toe
Her clans and children were the greatest care
Of Grace O'Malley, of Grace O'Malley
Who never did despair
Her trade was maintainence by land and sea
Two hundred loyal men were her army
No other captain was as skilled or brave
As Grace O'Malley, as Grace O'Malley
Who ruled the stormy wave
Now they had not sailed far from Clew Bay
When she spied a vessel bound for Galway
"Those are sea merchants," Grania did cry
"And Granuaile, and Granuaile
Will stop that ship or die"
She stopped that ship, and they took its store
She returned to Old Erin's shore
With Spanish brandy she walked along
Did Granuaile, did Granuaile
Who sweetly sang a song
Now Queen Elizabeth did once suggest
That she would name Grace a countess
"Oh no," says Grace, "That would never do
For Grace O'Malley, for Grace O'Malley
Is as great a queen as you"
The Queen of Connaught by land and sea
Her strength commanded fierce loyalty
Her wealth provided for many's the clans
Of Grace O'Malley, of Grace O'Malley
The back of the winter is broken
And light lingers long by the door
The seeds of the summer have spoken
In gowans that bloom on the shore
Chorus:
By night and day we'll sport and we'll play
And delight as the dawn dances over the bay
Sleep blows the breath of the morning away
And we follow the heron home
In darkness we cradled our sorrow
And stoked all our fires with fear
These bones that lie empty and hollow
Are ready for gladness to cheer
(Chorus)
Long may you sing of the salmon
And the snow-scented sound of your home
While the north wind delivers its sermon
Of ice and salt water and stone
By night and day we'll sport and we'll play
And delight as the dawn dances over the bay
Sleep blows the breath of the morning away
And we follow
It matters nothing what they did to you
The storm is over, the wreckage through
Leave them in your wake, no more for you to take
Be like the sea
If it hurts your heart, cast it up on the shore
Let it go forever, ceart go leor
Wash away the sorrow, the tears of no tomorrow
Be like the sea
The sea, the sea, dive with me
We'll lose these rags we're wearing and be
Like the sea, the sea, wild and free
We'll swim out past the longing so deep
Down below these waves in the deepest depth
There are echoes sounding true as your breath
The still, small voice in you, the endless open blue
Be like the sea
Go on forever, shine out in the sun
The full a tá sé everyone
Dance yourself around, give up the small ground
Be like the sea
The sea, the sea, dive with me
We'll lose these rags we're wearing and be
Like the sea, the sea, wild and free
We'll swim out past the longing so deep
There's the sun, the moon, and harry
harry makes me smile
there is sad and there is happy
it will be happy this time
there's tomorrow now and harry
it's a brand new song
harry is my love
harry is the one
there is come, and go and harry
he's my peace of mind
there's the right and there's the wrong way
harry does it right
there's tomorrow now and harry
it's a brand new song
harry is my love
harry is the one
he is the noontime
the sunshine of my day
he is my pick me up
and harry plans to stay here with me
there's the sun, the moon, and harry
harry makes me smile
there is sad and there is happy
it will be happy this time
there's tomorrow now and harry
it's a brand new song
harry is my love
