Cavalry (from French cavalerie, cf. cheval 'horse') or horsemen were soldiers or warriors who fought mounted on horseback. Cavalry were historically the third oldest (after infantry and chariotry) and the most mobile of the combat arms. A soldier in the cavalry is known by a number of designations such as cavalryman, horseman or trooper.
The designation of cavalry was not usually given to any military force that used other animals, such as camels or mules. Infantry who moved on horseback, but dismounted to fight on foot, were known in the 17th and early 18th centuries as dragoons, a class of mounted infantry which later evolved into cavalry proper while retaining their historic title.
From earliest times cavalry had the advantage of improved mobility, making it an
instrument which multiplied the fighting value of even the smallest forces, allowing them to outflank and avoid, to surprise and overpower, to retreat and escape according to the requirements of the moment.
A man fighting from horseback also had the advantages of greater height, speed, and inertial mass over an opponent on foot. Another element of horse mounted warfare is the psychological impact a mounted soldier can inflict on an opponent.
Jona Lewie (born John Lewis, 14 March 1947, Southampton) is an English singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
Jona Lewie joined his first group, The Johnston City Jazz Band, while still at school in 1963, and by 1968 had become a blues & boogie singer and piano player. In 1969, as a singer/songwriter, he contributed compositions and recordings for the compilation album, I Asked For Water She Gave Me . . . Gasoline on the Liberty/UA label. Other compositions in 1969 were for the album, These Blues is Meant to Be Barrel Housed, on the Yazoo/Blue Goose label in New York — still as a solo artist known as John Lewis.
In 1969 he became acquainted with the blues band, Brett Marvin and the Thunderbolts, which was holding a residency at London’s Studio 51 club, joining as a vocalist and piano player. Brett Marvin signed to the Robert Stigwood Agency in 1970, and Jona Lewie, as part of the band, appeared on television in Sweden, Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands, and in 1971 performed in a concert with Son House and supported Eric Clapton's Derek and the Dominoes on a UK tour. Lewie stayed with Brett Marvin until 1973, its mainstream hit single being "Seaside Shuffle", another Lewie composition, released under the one-off nom de disque Terry Dactyl and The Dinosaurs. The record did little on first release in 1971, but in 1972 a re-release reached number 2 in the UK Singles Chart., aided by a marketing and distribution agreement for the song between Terry Dactyl’s record label, Sonet, and Jonathan King's UK label. Subsequent Lewie composed singles for Terry Dactyl and Sonet, "On a Saturday Night" and "She Left; I Died", didn’t achieve chart success.
Franz von Suppé or Francesco Suppé Demelli (April 18, 1819 – May 21, 1895) was an Austrian composer of light operas who was born in what is now Croatia during the time his father was working in this outpost of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. A composer and conductor of the Romantic period, he is notable for his four dozen operettas.
Franz von Suppé's parents named him Francesco Ezechiele Ermenegildo Cavaliere di Suppé-Demelli when he was born on April 18, 1819, in Split, Dalmatia, Austrian Empire. His Belgian ancestors may have emigrated there in the 18th century. His father – a man of Italian and Belgian ancestry – was a civil servant in the service of the Austrian Empire, as was his father before him; Suppé's mother was Viennese by birth. He was a distant relative of Gaetano Donizetti. He simplified and Germanized his name when in Vienna, and changed "cavaliere di" to "von". Outside Germanic circles, his name may appear on programs as Francesco Suppé-Demelli.
He spent his childhood in Zadar, where he had his first music lessons and began to compose at an early age. As a boy he had no encouragement in music from his father, but was helped by a local bandmaster and by the Spalato cathedral choirmaster. His Missa dalmatica dates from this early period. As a teenager in Cremona, Suppé studied flute and harmony. His first extant composition is a Roman Catholic Mass, which premiered at a Franciscan church in Zadar in 1832. At the age of 16, he moved to Padua to study law – a field of study not chosen by him – but continued to study music. Suppé was also a singer, making his debut as a basso profundo in the role of Dulcamara in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore at the Sopron Theater in 1842.
Dusk night settles on this desert world
Been traveling 45 day's now
My goal's to strip souls who thought they broke my peace
Nobody's gonna push this future drifter back yeah
Cut my hourse loose from the Cavalery
Release all tension I'll be law
Crystal meth burns on the silouette.
Forced burtality always uncovers evidence!
Don't wanna be the victim man
I'll be the one standing alone
Nobady's gona hear you when
I draw ya down
Cut my horse loose from the Cavalry
Release all tension I'll be law
Cut my horse loose from the Cavalry
Release all anguish I'll be law
Cavalry
Sheets of pain fell on this wasted land
I still believe hope is the answer
Spent my lifetime always running away
Getting up is easy, when you're first to get the message, that it's time to put your money where your mouth is today
But if your friends are all asleep and you've got pillows on your feet, then your objectives will be lost, you will float on away
When the cavalry comes, you'll find us lookin for a reason, to break down these walls and jump
When the cavalry comes, you'll find us lookin for a reason, to show you the brave don't run, don't run
A proper cup of coffee, from a proper coffee shop, was all I needed to get a little purpose in life
Well the reasons are clear, my bearings aren't there, my compass points me in the wrong direction all night
But when the cavalry comes, you'll find us lookin for a reason, to break down these walls and jump
When the cavalry comes, you'll find us lookin for a reason, to show you the brave don't run, don't run
They said, I bet, you'll never make it on your own
They said, I bet, you'll never learn this, no no no no!
They said, I bet, you'll never get this, no no no no!
No no no no, no no no no, no no...
But when the cavalry comes, you'll find us lookin for a reason, to break down these walls and jump
When the cavalry comes, you'll find us lookin for a reason, to show you the brave don't run
(Layered)
When the cavalry comes, you'll find us looking for love
On every street-corner and circus in the city tonight
When the cavalry comes, you'll find us looking for trouble
Some men may be faint of heart when it comes time to do their part
Call my name and I will say the cavalry is on it's way
Rewinding on the true romance leave so many things to chance
You need someone to save the day, the cavalry is on it's way
For the lady in distress, I'm John Wayne and nothing less
I'm the good guy coming to your rescue
I'm a strong and quiet guy, just say the word and you will find me
In the saddle on my way to love you
If you need someone by your side, I don't care how long you ride
From here to China, that's ok, the cavalry is on it's way
For the lady in distress, I'm John Wayne and nothing less
I'm the good guy coming to your rescue
I'm a strong and quiet guy, just say the word and you will find me
In the saddle on my way to love you
You will not have to cry in vain
I'll brave the dust to dry the rain
Like a man from Monterrey, the cavalry is on it's way
