Our video describes the journey and function of the replication macromolecule RNA, how its function can be altered by mutation, and how this could be dangerous to the human body.
RNA's journey begins in the nucleus of a cell, where it is "transcribed," or where its nitrogenous bases are arranged, by DNA. From the nucleus, the RNA travels to the ribosome, where every 3 N-Bases, together forming a single "Codon", are translated into ONE amino acid. These amino acids are later formed into proteins, which mediate ALL cellular function in the body. So, in the end, RNA is directly responsible for the production and variation of proteins in the human body.
Mutation, or the deletion/substitution/rearrangement of a single N-Base in the DNA strand, may arise from a number of causes, including a significant exposure to cigarette smoke and UV radiation. For many Americans today, both men and women who have tan skin are regarded as especially attractive, and many people are using tanning beds, where they receive a high amount of UV exposure in a short period of time. These tanning beds might be safe in moderation, but too much exposure to the UV rays could result in a mutation of DNA. This is very dangerous, because the DNA dictates the structure of the RNA, which dictates the structure of all proteins in the body. A disturbance in the process of protein synthesis can cause cancer.

Others use plain glass instead of the more expensive Wood's glass, so they appear light-blue to the eye when operating. A black light may also be formed, very inefficiently, by using a layer of Wood's glass in the envelope for an incandescent bulb.
Though cheaper than fluorescent UV lamps, only 0.1% of the input power is converted to usable ultraviolet radiation. Mercury-vapor black lights in ratings up to 1 kW with UV-emitting phosphor and an envelope of Wood's glass are used for theatrical and concert displays. Testing for complex carbohydrates (starch).
Take a small sample of your soil and place it in the spotting tile
Add one drop of iodine solution (aqueous potassium iodide) the sample
Biomarkers: test 2
Testing for simple carbohydrates (sugars).
Take a spatula sample of soil and add 5cm3 of distilled water. Mix in a test tube and allow to settle then use a pipette to remove 2 cm3 of the sample solution. Add this to a test tube.
Add an equal volume of Benedict's solution to the test tube and swirl or vortex the mixture.
Leave the test tube in a boiling water bath for about 5 minutes.
Biomarkers: test 3
Testing for protein.
Add a spatula scoop of soil sample to your test tube.
Add 1cm3 of sodium hydroxide solution
Add drop by drop of copper sulfate to the sample.
Shake well and let the mixture stand for 5 mins
Biomarkers: test 4
Testing for lipids. (Note to teacher: TEST me before students attempt, may not work)
Take a spatula sample of soil. Add 2cm3 ethanol and shake well
Allow to settle in a test tube rack for 2 minutes for food to dissolve in ethanol.
Empty any clear liquid into a test tube containing 2 cm3 of distilled water

Additionally, there are many occupations that receive substantial exposures to either natural UV or UV from artificial sources. Even though the adverse effects of UV exposure have been well known for some time, there is still much that we don't know about occupational UV exposure. In the occupational setting, managing the risk of occupational UV exposure is particularly challenging. This plenary will discuss the current state of knowledge and some key risk management challenges relating to occupational exposure to UV.

Suntan and sunburn are familiar effects of over-exposure, along with higher risk of skin cancer. Living things on dry land would be severely damaged by ultraviolet radiation from the sun if most of it were not filtered out by the Earth's atmosphere, particularly the ozone layer. More-energetic, shorter-wavelength "extreme" UV below 121 nm ionizes air so strongly that it is absorbed before it reaches the ground. Ultraviolet is also responsible for the formation of bone-strengthening vitamin D in most land vertebrates, including humans. The UV spectrum thus has effects both beneficial and harmful to human health...
Discovery
"Ultraviolet" means "beyond violet" (from Latin ultra, "beyond"), violet being the color of the highest frequencies of visible light. Ultraviolet light has a higher frequency than violet light.
UV radiation was discovered in 1801 when the German physicist Johann Wilhelm Ritter observed that invisible rays just beyond the violet end of the visible spectrum darkened silver chloride-soaked paper more quickly than violet light itself. He called them "oxidizing rays" to emphasize chemical reactivity and to distinguish them from "heat rays", discovered the previous year at the other end of the visible spectrum. The simpler term "chemical rays" was adopted shortly thereafter, and it remained popular throughout the 19th century, although there were those who held that these were an entirely different sort of radiation from light (notably John William Draper), who named them "tithonic rays". The terms chemical and heat rays were eventually dropped in favour of ultraviolet and infrared radiation, respectively. In 1878 the effect of short-wavelength light on sterilizing bacteria was discovered. By 1903 it was known the most effective wavelengths were around 250 nm. In 1960, the effect of ultraviolet radiation on DNA was established.

The late Rosalie Bertell said massive ozone loss in her book "weapon of war planet Earth". Interesting way, some countries have and Institute (ua. Switzerland and Germany) already operated mid-1990s research, which damage increased UV values do in the food industry & agriculture and how you could take precautions. The reason for this research, was the knowledge that the ozone layer is inevitably diluted & will continue to decrease, and the UV radiation will increase! As I said - they knew of it and that's why!
What did you know about - from the media, politics, science or federal agencies?

Dear viewers, Ozone layer is a layer in the atmosphere.
This layer is made of Ozone (O3) gas.
This layer absorbs most of the Sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
As a result, this layer works as a shield for us.
UV rays are very much harmful for living organisms, but this natural shield is decaying for various reasons.
As a result, our environment and ecosystems are being harmed by the UV rays, and the world is now worried about it.
So, for the preservation of Ozone Layer, like previous years, this year also the ‘International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer’ is being observed worldwide on 16 September.
To discuss about this we have with us Dr. Kamal Uddin Ahmed, Honorable Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF).
Then we have Mr. Md. Raisul Alam Mondal, Director General, Department of Environment.
And, Mr. QSI Hashmi, Additional Director General, Department of Environment and the Project Director of ODS Project.
We also have Dr. Asif Mujtaba Mahmud, Associate Professor, National Institute of Chest Diseases & Hospital.
First I would like to request the Honorable Secretary to tell us about the theme of this year’s International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.
You just said about the decay of Ozone Layer and its adverse impacts.
On the basis of that, this year’s theme has been decided as: “30 Years of Healing the Ozone Together.”
The theme is supported by the slogan, “Ozone: All there is between you and UV.”
In Bengali we say- Preserve Ozone Layer and be safe from UV.
Does MoEF have any program in this regard?
Yes, we have a program.
Actually, an agreement was first initiated in Vienna Convention on 22 March of 1985 for the Protection of the Ozone Layer.
Later on 16 September 1987 the Montreal Protocol was signed and afterwards the whole world was informed about the Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.
Accordingly, in 1994 it was decided that the Day of Montreal Protocol (16 September) would be observed as ‘International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.’
In Bangladesh, we are seriously observing this Day every year since 1995.
And we have taken initiatives to reduce the existence and production of the substances that deplete the Ozone Layer in every sector.
Its last phase ‘HCFC Phaseout’ work is now running.
It’s one of our special works in context of saving people from the impacts of Ozone Layer depletion.

Mr. Md. Raisul Alam Mondal, please tell us about our Government’s initiatives regarding Preservation of the Ozone Layer.
Since 1995 we are actively working to facilitate preservation of the Ozone Layer by building public awareness including pharmaceuticals and business entrepreneurs.
We have worked on various projects on this regard in the past and two projects are still running.
Under these projects we are working to phase-out Ozone gas in line with the way directed by Montreal Protocol.
To cope up with that we have already gained some success in our industry level (e.g. refrigerator, Air conditioning, pharmaceuticals).
Despite being a third world country, in 2002 we have phased out CFC.
Later we also totally phased out HCFC-141b, the second phase of HCFC.
We are now working on the last phase, the management plan of HCFC.
We are now in a good position compared to the target for Bangladesh fixed by Montreal Protocol.
Already we have achieved 93% success.
We hope after finishing our running projects we’ll be able to achieve 5% more, means 98% success.
The rest will continue as residual for some time in our various industries.

First I would like to request the Honorable Secretary to tell us about the theme of this year’s International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.
You just said about the decay of Ozone Layer and its adverse impacts.
On the basis of that, this year’s theme has been decided as: “30 Years of Healing the Ozone Together.”
The theme is supported by the slogan, “Ozone: All there is between you and UV.”
In Bengali we say- Preserve Ozone Layer and be safe from UV.
Does MoEF have any program in this regard?
Yes, we have a program.
Actually, an agreement was first initiated in Vienna Convention on 22 March of 1985 for the Protection of the Ozone Layer.
Later on 16 September 1987 the Montreal Protocol was signed and afterwards the whole world was informed about the Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.
Accordingly, in 1994 it was decided that the Day of Montreal Protocol (16 September) would be observed as ‘International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.’
In Bangladesh, we are seriously observing this Day every year since 1995.
And we have taken initiatives to reduce the existence and production of the substances that deplete the Ozone Layer in every sector.
Its last phase ‘HCFC Phaseout’ work is now running.
It’s one of our special works in context of saving people from the impacts of Ozone Layer depletion.

Mr. Md. Raisul Alam Mondal, please tell us about our Government’s initiatives regarding Preservation of the Ozone Layer.
Since 1995 we are actively working to facilitate preservation of the Ozone Layer by building public awareness including pharmaceuticals and business entrepreneurs.
We have worked on various projects on this regard in the past and two projects are still running.
Under these projects we are working to phase-out Ozone gas in line with the way directed by Montreal Protocol.
To cope up with that we have already gained some success in our industry level (e.g. refrigerator, Air conditioning, pharmaceuticals).
Despite being a third world country, in 2002 we have phased out CFC.
Later we also totally phased out HCFC-141b, the second phase of HCFC.
We are now working on the last phase, the management plan of HCFC.
We are now in a good position compared to the target for Bangladesh fixed by Montreal Protocol.
Already we have achieved 93% success.
We hope after finishing our running projects we’ll be able to achieve 5% more, means 98% success.
The rest will continue as residual for some time in our various industries.

There are two ozone problems in the atmosphere. Tropospheric ozone in the form of photochemical smog is sometimes dangerously high whereas stratospheric ozone concentration is sometimes dangerously low. Photochemical smog is created through chemical reactions between UV radiation from the run and nitrogen oxides that are emitted from automobiles. High concentrations of tropospheric ozone are dangerous because of the damage ozone can cause to a person's airway if it is inhaled. The EPA has specified limits of ozone concentration but several counties in the USA exceed these limits. The primary air pollutants from which ozone is created have a peak concentration twice a day typically, which is associated with rush hour times during the day.

They are often, but not always, followed by a colossal coronal mass ejection. The flare ejects clouds of electrons, ions, and atoms through the corona of the sun into space. These clouds typically reach Earth a day or two after the event. The term is also used to refer to similar phenomena in other stars, where the term stellar flare applies.
Solar flares affect all layers of the solar atmosphere (photosphere, chromosphere, and corona), when the plasma medium is heated to tens of millions of kelvins the electrons, protons, and heavier ions are accelerated to near the speed of light. They produce radiation across the electromagnetic spectrum at all wavelengths, from radio waves to gamma rays, although most of the energy is spread over frequencies outside the visual range and for this reason the majority of the flares are not visible to the naked eye and must be observed with special instruments. Flares occur in active regions around sunspots, where intense magnetic fields penetrate the photosphere to link the corona to the solar interior. Flares are powered by the sudden (timescales of minutes to tens of minutes) release of magnetic energy stored in the corona. The same energy releases may produce coronal mass ejections (CME), although the relation between CMEs and flares is still not well established.
X-rays and UV radiation emitted by solar flares can affect Earth's ionosphere and disrupt long-range radio communications. Direct radio emission at decimetric wavelengths may disturb operation of radars and other devices operating at these frequencies.
