An armistice is a situation in a war where the warring parties agree to stop fighting. It is not necessarily the end of a war, since it might be just a cessation of hostilities while an attempt is made to negotiate a lasting peace. It is derived from the Latin arma, meaning weapons and statium, meaning a stopping.
A truce or ceasefire usually refers to a temporary cessation of hostilities for an agreed limited time or within a limited area. A truce may be needed in order to negotiate an armistice. An armistice is a modus vivendi and is not the same as a peace treaty, which may take months or even years to agree on. The 1953 Korean War Armistice Agreement is a major example of an armistice which has not been followed by a peace treaty.
The United Nations Security Council often imposes or tries to impose cease-fire resolutions on parties in modern conflicts. Armistices are always negotiated between the parties themselves and are thus generally seen as more binding than non-mandatory UN cease-fire resolutions in modern international law.

Out of time and out of inclinations, that we're in
How's it feel to watch a man relenting
Let's just say that I might be a sucker
The progress is all in how you cope in spite of no end
You don't have to say it, I know
It's all my fault
You don't have to worry, I know
It's how we are
You don't have to say it, I know
It's all my fault
The give and take is taking its toll
It's an honest work if I can stand up on it, maybe
we're
Not as far apart as it appears
Swallowing the blame is second nature, I got to
Keep on dealing my business my way
You don't have to say it, I know
It's all my fault
You don't have to worry, I know
It's how we are
You don't have to say it, I know
It's all my fault
The give and take is taking its toll
I I know (I know)
it's all (it's all)
My (my)
Fault
Will take the fall if it takes us somewhere
I I know (I know)
it's all (it's all)
My (my)
Fault
Will take the fall if it takes us somewhere
The give and take
The give and take
The give and take is taking its toll
The give and take
The give and take
The give and take is taking its toll
You don't have to say it, I know
It's all my fault
You don't have to worry, I won't
It falls apart
You don't have to say it, I know
It's all my fault
The give and take is taking its toll
You don't have to say it
You don't have to say it
You don't have to say it
Dahlias, they come from me
A promise to get well
That ain't working, thinking that you're no good
Don't worry 'cause I'm not the kind to kiss and tell
Dahlias and cherry trees, I don't recall them anyway
Some lovers know it ain't gonna wear out
To each his own the same
Look what you wasted
When the lights are cutting out
And I come down in your room
Our daily compromise
It is written in your signed armistice
And when the lights are cutting out
And I come down in your room
Well, we'll decide as always
Here is your signed armistice
It's time to follow and not to heat it up
Requesting this plane is a propeller
In the middle of the course when ambitions are low
Head on close, hang on before you lose control
The octagon logo had to rip it up
The semaphore message on your lips
Some lovers know it ain't gonna wear out
To each his own the same, what else is wasted?
When the lights are cutting out
And I come down in your room
Our daily compromise
It is written in your signed armistice
And when the lights are cutting out
And I come down in your room
Well, we'll decide as always
Here is your signed armistice
For lovers in a rush, for lovers always
For lovers in a rush, keeping promises
For lovers in a rush, for lovers always
For lovers in a rush, for lovers always
For lovers in a rush, keeping promises
cease-fires on fingertips everything you want for everything you need trade the future in for history unconditional surrendering i'm not going to tell you why no i'm not going to you why armistice in broken hands parades to honor you a marshall plan for me to the victor go the spoils of war the victor owns the pen that writes the past even if you ask
i sit alone and watch the skieshope that you come out
tonight
and broken hearts, broken dreams
buried somewhere in between
and though you think that i don't mind
you messing with this heart of mine
remember remember remember
that you were mine
and i could live
and i could learn
and i could crash
and i could burn
remember remember remember
that you were mine
before the war
seven years of memories
on sedatives and bended knees
a valentine on methadrine
in silicon and neoprene
and though you think that i am blind
my being in this state of mind
remember remember remember
that you were mine
and i could live
and i could learn
and i could crash
and i could burn
remember remember remember
that you were mine
