Simon Tisdall (born 1953) is a columnist for the The Guardian newspaper and also Assistant Editor.
He was born in Manchester and educated at Holland Park School in Kensington, one of the first comprehensives which opened in 1958. From 1971-4 he studied History, Politics and Philosophy at Downing College, Cambridge.
He joined the Guardian in 1979. From 1989-94 he was the newspaper's US Editor and White House correspondent. From 1994-8 he was Foreign Editor. During 1996-8 he was the Foreign Editor of The Observer.
He married Alison Kane in 1984 in Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire. They live a few miles west of Bradford on Avon in Wiltshire, halfway between the town and the University of Bath.
Sir Simon David Jenkins (born 10 June 1943) is a British newspaper columnist and author, and since November 2008 has been chairman of the National Trust. He currently writes columns for both The Guardian and London's Evening Standard, and was previously a commentator for The Times, which he edited from 1990 to 1992. He was educated at Mill Hill School and St John's College, Oxford, where he read Philosophy, politics, and economics.
A former editor of both The Times and the Evening Standard, he received a knighthood for services to journalism in the 2004 New Year honours.
He married the American actress Gayle Hunnicutt in 1978; the couple separated in 2008.
After graduating from Oxford, Jenkins worked initially at Country Life magazine, before joining the Times Educational Supplement and then editing the Sunday Times Insight pages. From 1976 to 1978 he was editor of the Evening Standard, before moving to become political editor of the Economist. He edited The Times from 1990 to 1992, but since then has primarily worked as a columnist.
Simon Black (born 3 April 1979) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League.
Black is a midfielder with a reputation for hard work and skill. He has the ability to get under the pack to retrieve the ball as well as deliver it with precision to teammates and rarely wastes a possession.
Born in Mount Isa, Queensland, he relocated to Western Australia with his family at a very young age, where he attended school at Corpus Christi College in Bateman.
He was drafted by the Brisbane Lions in 1997 from the East Fremantle Football Club, and he debuted in the first game of the 1998 season and immediately showed his class. His numerous awards for his efforts include the 2002 Brownlow Medal, the 2003 Norm Smith Medal and the 2001, 2002, and 2006 Merrett-Murray Medals awarded to the best and fairest player with the Brisbane Lions and three premiership medallions he received as a part of the Lions' hat-trick of premierships in 2001, 2002 and 2003. He was also a member of the famous midfield group the 'Fab Four' consisting of Black, Michael Voss, Nigel Lappin and Jason Akermanis during Brisbane Lions' premiership era.
Julie Atherton is a British actress, who is best known for her work on stage. On the 3rd of October 2009 she finished playing the roles of Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut in the West End production Avenue Q. She released her debut album, A Girl of Few Words on 2 October 2006. After joining the team at Speckulation she released her second album titled, "No Space For Air" in the Summer of 2010. She is currently starring as Sister Mary Robert, in the first UK tour of Sister Act the musical. Performances begin September 29, 2011.
Atherton grew up in Preston, England and started her training at Cardinal Newman College before moving to Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. She graduated in 1999. Whilst training at Mountview, she played Fern in Charlotte's Web at the Polka Children's Theatre in Wimbledon, London.
After her training, she played Iris Bentley in Let Him Have Justice, which she co-wrote. She was later cast in the lead role of Sophie in the West End production of Mamma Mia! (2000), and then as Serena Katz in the national tour of Fame. A season was then spent appearing in Out of this World at the Chichester Festival Theatre and as the Kolokolo Bird in the Stiles and Drewe musical Just So (2004). She was part of the premier of a new musical "Ordinary Days" at the Finborough Theatre, and Once Upon A Time At The Adelphi at the Liverpool Playhouse from June 28, 2008 to August 2, 2008.
