The 19th century (1801–1900) was a period in history marked by the collapse of the Spanish, Portuguese, First and Second French, Chinese, Holy Roman and Mughal empires. This paved the way for the growing influence of the British Empire, Russian Empire, German Empire, the United States and the Empire of Japan, spurring military conflicts but also advances in science and exploration.
After the defeat of the French Empire and its allies in the Napoleonic Wars, the British Empire became the world's leading power, controlling one quarter of the world's population and one fifth of the total land area. It enforced a Pax Britannica, encouraged trade, and battled rampant piracy. The 19th century was an era of invention and discovery, with significant developments in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, electricity, and metallurgy that lay the groundwork for the technological advances of the 20th century. The Industrial Revolution began in Europe. The Victorian era was notorious for the employment of young children in factories and mines. In Japan, after the Meiji Restoration, Japan embarked on a program of rapid modernization. Then Japan went to war against Qing-ruled China, and won the First Sino-Japanese War.
Gustave Caillebotte (French pronunciation: [ɡystav kajbɔt]; 19 August 1848 – 21 February 1894) was a French painter, member and patron of the group of artists known as Impressionists, though he painted in a much more realistic manner than many other artists in the group. Caillebotte was noted for his early interest in photography as an art form.
Gustave Caillebotte was born on 19 August 1848 to an upper-class Parisian family living in the rue du Faubourg-Saint-Denis. His father, Martial Caillebotte (1799–1874), was the inheritor of the family's military textile business and was also a judge at the Seine department's Tribunal de Commerce. Caillebotte's father was twice widowed before marrying Caillebotte's mother, Céleste Daufresne (1819–1878), who had two more sons after Gustave, René (1851–1876) and Martial (1853–1910). Caillebotte was born at home on rue du Faubourg-Saint-Denis in Paris, and lived there until 1866 when his father had a home built on rue de Miromesnil. Beginning in 1860, the Caillebotte family began spending many of their summers in Yerres, a town on the Yerres River about 12 miles south of Paris, where Martial Caillebotte, Sr. had purchased a large property. It was around this time that Caillebotte probably began to draw and paint.
In the Woods is a 2007 mystery novel by Tana French about a pair of Irish detectives and their investigation of the murder of a twelve year old girl. The novel won several awards such as the 2008 Edgar Award for Best First Novel By An American Author, the 2008 Barry Award for Best First Novel, the 2008 Macavity Award for Best First Mystery Novel, and the 2008 Anthony Award for Best First Novel.
Twenty years prior to the novel's events, twelve year-old Adam and his two best friends failed to come home after playing in the familiar woods bordering their Irish housing estate. A search is called by the families, and the police find Adam shivering, clawing the bark of a nearby tree, blood on his shoes and slash marks on his back. He is unable to tell them what happened or where his friends are. His amnesia holds to the present day, where he goes by his middle name, Rob, to avoid the attention of the media to his famous case. His friends were never found.
The plot of the novel circles around the murder of a twelve year old girl, Katy Devlin, whose case Rob and his partner Cassie Maddox are given to investigate. The body is found in the same woods where Rob’s friends disappeared, at an archeological dig site, and the coincidence is enough to make Rob nervous, though he insists to his partner that he is fine.

After graduating, he stayed on at Kew, being employed as a supervisor and latterly a staff trainer, leaving to pursue a career in gardening journalism in 1974.[citation needed]

In the beginning
There was no light
No teenage heaven or hell
No songs or voices came from across the outlands
Where oceans are meant to be -- where oceans are meant to be
Oh my God, I feel so alone -- some million lightyears far from home
HOW ABOUT YOU LIVING IN THE 20TH CENTURY
You can halt your car to get your tickets to the starlite skies, you know...
Ev'rybody wants to come home (what a dream)
So, if you don't mind,
Will you join me?
On my way through the eye
up to the light
Three thirty in the mornin'
Not a soul insight
The city's lookin' like a ghost town
On a moonless summer night
Raindrops on the windshield
There's a storm moving in
He's headin' back from somewhere
That he never should have been
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
Every light is burnin'
In a house across town
She's pacin' by the telephone
In her faded flannel gown
Askin' for miracle
Hopin' she's not right
Prayin' it's the weather
That's kept him out all night
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
The thunder rolls
And the lightnin' strikes
Another love grows cold
On a sleepless night
As the storm blows on
Out of control
Deep in her heart
The thunder rolls
She's waitin' by the window
When he pulls into the drive
She rushes out to hold him
Thankful he's alive
But on the wind and rain
A strange new perfume blows
And the lightnin' flashes in her eyes
And he knows that she knows
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
The thunder rolls
And the lightnin' strikes
Another love grows cold
On a sleepless night
As the storm blows on
Out of control
Deep in her heart
Ah yea (echo)
Whole world
Whose slick
We lounge stay phat notice our G limp
A natural flair with our fresh ass hair
Style baggy out clouts slick

make sparks from the barrel me-tal pistol
to the depths I dive, seems lunar like aqua

Well I'm swearing to God
Yeah, I'm so nervous
I can not feel anything
Save the tips of my fingers
Whenever comes
Just might not be the moment
Raise the roof, Yeah let's get out of this
My friends
20th Century
My friends
My friends
Pay attention y'all
To the signs
Pay attention to the questions
Let the energy rise to the moment
Yeah, that look in your eyes no description
My friends
20th Century
My friends
20th Century
My friends
20th Century
My friends
My friends
Seven degrees
I’m down on my knees
Waiting for the man to put me under his spell
07:05
he walks into sight
Giving me the eye he lifts my spirits high
His passion burns and my luck takes a turn
I’m reborn and alive with his love to survive
Is it good? Is it bad?
Am I simply going mad?
Is it fiction? Or Fact?
Am I really losing tact
Is he Magical
Logical
Natural…..I wonder….
He’s got the makings of my 7th Wonder
Seventy three
Kisses for me
That whisper through the silence his feelings for me
Softly he dips
My cherry-red lips
In the essence of hope on which my love can float
His passion burns and my luck takes a turn
I’m reborn and alive with his love to survive
Is it good? Is it bad?
Am I simply going mad?
Is it fiction? Or Fact?
Am I really losing tact
Is he Magical
Logical
Natural…..I wonder…..
He’s got the makings of my 7th Wonder
On Seven seas…we sail on this dream
Turning it into virtual reality…..reality
Chorus
Am I weak? Am I strong?
In his arms do I belong?
I could climb – Mountain high
For his love I’ll learn to fly
Is he Magical
Logical
Natural…..I wonder
He’s got the makings of my 7th Wonder
