An ace is a playing card. In the standard French deck, an ace has a single suit symbol (a heart, diamond, spade, or club) located in the middle of the card, sometimes large and decorated, especially in the case of the Ace of Spades. This embellishment on the Ace of Spades started when King James VI of Scotland and I of England required an insignia of the printing house to be printed on the Ace of Spades. This insignia was necessary for identifying the printing house and stamping it as having paid the new tax. Although this requirement was abolished in 1960, the tradition has been kept by many card makers.
The word "ace" comes from the Old French word 'as' (from Latin 'as') meaning 'a unit', from the name of a small Roman coin. It originally meant the side of dice with only one mark, before it was a term for a playing card. Since this was the lowest roll of the die, it traditionally meant 'bad luck' in Middle English, but as the ace is often the highest playing card, its meaning has since changed to mean 'high-quality, excellence'. This connotation has seen the word applied to an unreachable tennis serve, a successful fighter pilot and more generally as a person proficient in their field, especially a sporting field.

Hardly seems a long time
Just a minute of the day
But the man who stood beside me
More than gave himself away
The food stain on his spotted shirt
A gray beard on his face
A man composed of many names
So I just called him Ace
Chorus:
But Ace can't read and Ace can't write
And he sleeps on a bench at night
A little man the world has left behind
He ain't bitter, he ain't sweet
Makes his living on the street
Never knowing what he's gonna find
Born in Mississippi
Picking cotton as a child
Left soon for the city
Where he heard that life was wild
That was fifty years ago
When nothing's really strange
From a poor dirt farm to dirty streets
Is really not much change
Chorus:
And Ace can't read and Ace can't write
And he sleeps on a bench at night
A little man the world has left behind
He ain't bitter, he ain't sweet
Makes his living on the street
Never knowing what he's gonna find
Go back to the country
No he really can't do that
Wasted years have left him
Nothing but an old straw hat
So he puts it on his head
And waves a last good-bye
No time left to turn around
And no time to ask why
Chorus:
Ace can't read and Ace can't write
And he sleeps on a bench at night
A little man the world has left behind
He ain't bitter, he ain't sweet
Makes his living on the street
Never knowing what he's gonna find
And this old world has left poor Ace behind
It hardly seems a long time just a minute of the day
When the man who stood beside me more than gave himself away

i see tha anger in the back of your eyes i know the vengeance running through your mind you're up on the cross with a heart full of nails hanging your head whenever you fail you're thinking. now's the time you keep saying. now's the time but you still keep standing still you're free now. now's the time it's over now. now's the time and i believe. now's the time and there ain't a thing now that you can do you expect everyone to have pity on you nobody else can put their life in your hands so get up and move while you still have the chance with all of your mind, and all of your soul and all of your heart, if you want to be smart you've got a lot to give, don't throw it away you'll have your way some day, it will come to you let's see what you do with the rest of your days you had it all and you gave some away it's not going to matter when you're dead and gone you'll be rewarded for the good that you've done so quit thinking. now's the time. and start doing. now's the time you've got a lot to live for so quit crying. now's the time and start trying. now's the time now's the time. now's the time to live you say you've been run through the lover's mill but people are starving while you get your fill there's not time for standing still there's another void that you can fulfill that you can fulfill
Senti a minha energia
Tás a ouvir?
enquanto, incenso espalha aroma no meu quarto
Imagino-me a despir-te,
imagino-me a sentir-te,
a beijar-te, a acariciar-te
Nunca fugir, nunca mentir-te,
ver poesia, cds mostrados
Ver nascer o dia contigo e quadros pintar-te,
Tás a ouvir?
Tás a ouvir?
Quase expludo, guardo tudo isto bem lá no fundo
Aguardo a tua receita pra trazer ao meu mundo
Não me iludo,
E enquanto escrevo isto arrepio-me quando penso nisso.
Tás a ouvir?

As water laps my feet
And sharks surround me I sleep
You smile and line up your army
But my enemies can't get near me
Because i claimed victory that day, now I'm calm
I have seen in your eyes how much you suffer
With the dark
Where shining stars light the heavens
We satellites hope to reach
And my blackwater reflects them for me
Come on lets make our move
They don't see a thing that they can't see through
But shining stars light the heavens
We satellites can't compete
But tonight the blackwater reflects them for me
Where shining stars light the heavens
We lesser lights hope to reach
And my blackwater reflects them for me
for me for me.
Redemption will pour, crashes to the floor
And a million cold thoughts won't stop you feeling warm
Takin' it Easy, takin' our time and sniffin' about
We got a notion, time gonna tell, and it'll work out There ain't no sly seducer, fooling me
There's nothing you can do Sir! I learnt me a lesson, When I was a boy
Sniffin' about
You get a connection
Selected perfection
It'll work out There ain't no sly seducer, fooling me
There's nothing you can do Sir! Sniffin' about
Rock and roll runaway
Rock and roll runaway
Even though she's only in her teens
She's really into making a scene
As a rock and roll runaway
Don't wanna go to school no more
Don't wanna work on a factory floor
Why you left home, honey
Heaven only knows
I've been trying so hard to find out
I don't even get that close
I got a feeling, I got a feeling
Baby, you did not like your role
Come on, own up, honey
You've been searching for your soul
Searching for your soul
Don't wanna go to school no more
Don't wanna work on a factory floor
Why you left home, honey
Heaven only knows
I've been trying so hard to find out
I don't even get that close
I got a feeling, I got a feeling
Baby, you did not like your role
Come on, own up, honey
You've been searching for your soul
Searching for your soul
Rock and roll runaway
You know she's wearing high heel shoes
She's really into them rythym and blues
She's a rock and roll runaway
She don't wanna go to school no more
How long has this been going on?
How long has this been going on?
Well, if friends with their fancy persuasion
Don't admit that it's part of a scheme
But I can't help but have my suspicions
'Cause I ain't quite as dumb as I seem
And you said you was never intending
To break up our scene this way
But there ain't any use in pretending
It could happen to us any day
How long has this been going on?
How long has this been going on?
Oh, your friends with their fancy persuasion
Don't admit that it's part of a scheme
But I can't help but have my suspicions
'Cause I ain't quite as dumb as I seem
Oh, you said you was never intending
To break up our scene this way
But there ain't any use in pretending
It could happen to us any day
And how long has this been going on?
How long has this been going on?
(How long?)
How long has this been going on?
(How long has this?)
How long has this been going on?
(How long?)
I bought a toothbrush, some toothpaste, a flannel for my face
Pyjamas, a hairbrush, new shoes and a case
I said to my reflection "Let's get out of this place."
Past the church and the steeple, the laundry on the hill
Billboards and the buildings, memories of it still keep calling, and calling
But forget it all, I know I will
CHORUS:
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
What's been goin' on, now that you have gone
There's no other
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
I'm at the carpark, the airport, the baggage carousel
The people ??????, wishing I was well
I said "It's no occasion
It's no story I can tell"
At my bedside empty pocket, a foot without a sock
Your body gets much closer
I fumble for the clock, alarmed by the seduction
I wish that it would stop
CHORUS
I bought a novel, some perfume, a fortune over you
But it's not my conscience that hates to be untrue
I asked then my reflection, "Tell me what is there to do?"
How long has this been goin' on?
How long has this been goin' on?
Well, your friends with their fancy persuasions
Don't admit that it's part of a scheme,
But I can't help but have my suspicions
'Cause I ain't quite as dumb as I seem.
And you said you were never intendin'
To break up our scene in this way,
But there ain't any use in pretendin',
It could happen to us any day.
How long has this been goin' on?
How long has this been goin' on?
(Musical interlude)
Oh, your friends with their fancy persuasions
Don't admit that it's part of a scheme,
But I can't help but have my suspicions
'Cause I ain't quite as dumb as I seem.
And you say you were never intendin'
To break up our scene in this way,
But there ain't any use in pretendin',
It could happen to us any day.
So how long has this been goin' on?
How long has this been goin' on?
How long has this been goin' on?
How long - how long has this been goin' on?
