Eaten Alive (known under various alternate titles in different regions, including Death Trap (UK), Horror Hotel, Horror Hotel Massacre, Legend of the Bayou, Murder on the Bayou, Le crocodile de la mort (France) and Starlight Slaughter) is a 1977 horror film directed by Tobe Hooper. The cast includes Neville Brand, perennial exploitation film star Roberta Collins, Robert Englund who later appeared in A Nightmare on Elm Street, frequent Brian de Palma actor William Finley, Marilyn Burns who had appeared in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Janus Blythe who later appeared in The Hills Have Eyes, and Kyle Richards who later acted in Halloween. Name actors Carolyn Jones and Mel Ferrer are prominently billed but play supporting roles.
After refusing a request from frisky customer Buck (Robert Englund), prostitute Clara Wood (Roberta Collins) is evicted from the town brothel by the madam, Miss Hattie (Carolyn Jones). Clara makes her way to a decrepit hotel where she encounters the mentally disturbed proprietor Judd (Neville Brand) and his pet Nile crocodile in the swamp beside the porch. Upon realizing Clara was a prostitute, Judd attacks her while ranting and raving. Judd stabs her with a pitchfork and feeds her to the crocodile.

"“You have to go in head first” when getting eaten alive by an anaconda, according to the Discovery Channel’s sneak peak of Eaten Alive, its newest affront to televised science. On Dec. 7, Discovery will air one brave man’s quest into (and back out of) the belly of the beast—an anaconda, to be exact. This move is only the newest entry in a growing collection of pseudoscience and outright fiction clogging the airwaves of the once-educational TV channel.
On its surface, watching a “naturalist and wildlife filmmaker” survive feeding himself to a giant snake in the Amazon sounds pretty awesome—unless, of course, you’re the giant snake. But it’s gratuitous cruelty. If this were an attempt to understand snake digestion, the filmmakers could easily feed the snake a camera. If this were about gawking at a snake eating something huge, there’s always that YouTube video of the python eating a crocodile—a true act of nature wherein no animal was duped into wasting its energy eating (and then regurgitating) a guy who covered himself in pig’s blood. Discovery has already shot the program, and it says both man and snake are alive and well. In fact, stuntman Paul Rosolie has been tweeting about the program."*

A naturalist has spoken of his death-defying close encounter with a 20ft snake - and when we say close, you couldn't get much closer. Paul Rosolie revealed he was wrapped inside the clutches of an anaconda and squeezed so hard he could feel his arms 'ripping out of their sockets'. The 27-year-old was filmed being 'eaten alive' by the biggest and mightiest snake species on Earth as an experiment. The results will be shown at 9pm, tomorrow night on America's Discover Channel then in the UK on Friday Rosolie told the Daily Mail: "She nailed me right in the face, and the last thing I remember was her mouth open wide, straight in my face, and everything went black. "I went limp and let it constrict. All the while I was just thinking: 'Eat, eat, eat!'" For his experiment, he needed a streamlined carbon-fibre suit to protect him from being crushed. Engineers used a 3D scan of his body to make sure it fit his 5ft 9in frame closely. The sealed suit was finished with built-in cameras and a radio mic so he could communicate with his watching team. Pig blood was slathered on the suit to make Rosolie smell more like prey. Added to this, he said: "I had to provoke a defence response from the snake and turn it into a predator. I got down on all fours to make contact with it and simply let it bite me." He described the crushing feeling of the constriction as like being caught under a powerful wave. "She wrapped around me and I felt my suit cracking and my arms ripping out of their sockets," he said. "It was absolutely terrifying." Enveloped in the snake’s coils, Rosolie couldn’t see anything but he was able to radio back to his team to say he was alive. They agreed once he was in past his waist, they would pull him out before it became too difficult to extract him without injuring him or the snake. Months later Rosolie is still not entirely recovered from the experience.

The December premiere of “Eaten Alive” promises to show naturalist and filmmaker Paul Rosolie being swallowed alive by a giant snake, after covering himself in pig’s blood while wearing a custom-built suit. “You have to go head-first,” Rosolie says in a clip promoting the program. Paul Rosolie has agreed to be consumed by the giant snake, which traditionally drowns or suffocates its food by crushing it before swallowing it whole. Rosolie will wear what the channel has referred to as a "snake-proof suit," and will be covered in pig's blood to make himself a more palatable meal. He's reportedly being removed from the snake after being "eaten" with a cord attached to the suit. Critics have voiced concern, wondering whether the snake was harmed during the filming, but Rosolie defended the program. Still, while Rosolie presumably emerged from his snake engagement without damage, it doesn't sound all that pleasant for the unsuspecting snake — and there are early rumblings that animal rights experts will try to prevent the episode from airing. Man eaten alive by Anaconda Daredevil naturalist who allowed himself to be swallowed alive by an anaconda so he could film INSIDE the creature reveals he was more scared for the animal's safety than his own
The American naturalist who filmed himself getting eaten by an anaconda for a highly-anticipated television event has spoken out about what inspired him to take part in the risky stunt. This past summer, Rosolie donned a special suit to let a 25 foot 400 pound snake eat him in a dangerous performance set to air on Discovery Channel this Sunday. Overall, Rosolie was so confident in the suit's design that he was more worried about the snake's safety than his own.
'I didn’t want to stress [the snake] out too much. I wanted to make sure that the suit was smooth and wasn’t going to hurt the snake,' Rosolie said. ' I really wasn’t scared. We tested this suit and worked on this with experts so we knew I was going to be safe.'
Amid a backlash from animal rights activists who believe the anaconda was tortured by being forced to eat Rosolie, a man much bigger than its usual prey, Rosolie has responded to say the snake was unharmed and that the experiment was designed to raise money to save the animal's habitat. 'I wanted to do something that would absolutely shock people,' Rosolie told the New York Post. 'Environmentalists, we love to preach to the choir. What I’m trying to do with this is bring in a bunch of people that wouldn’t necessarily know what’s going on in the Amazon.'
'For the type of attention that this is getting and for the type of emergency that’s going on down there desperate times, desperate measures. Once they see the show, these are people who are going to be supporters' he said. 'It’s a cool little dissonance there they’re all coming out against me, but I’m the guy that’s been down there in the jungle trying to protect these things.'
Rosolie, a New Jersey native who first visited the Amazon at age 18, spent 60 days hiking through the rain forest in Peru with a team of about a dozen people searching for the right anaconda to take part in the stunt. In the process, the team also started the first scientific study of anacondas in the wild, taking down the weight, length and sex of each snake they came across. They also took samples of their skin to test for mercury, a by product of the gold mining industry which is encroaching on the creature's habitat. The special on Sunday will be promoting a fundraiser to raise money to save the snake's habitat.
The naturalist and his crew had nearly run out of the time allotted by the Discovery Channel when they finally tracked down a female green anaconda that Rosolie first spotted in 2008. He says it took 12 people fighting in water above their heads to catch the 25 foot 400-500 pound anaconda, adding that herpetologists were on site to make sure the snake was in good health throughout its short captivity.
Armor: In order to survive being eaten by the snake, Rosolie wore a custom-designed suit that protected him from the snake's strong grasp and digestive acids. It also packed cameras, communication devices and enough air to last him three hours From there, Rosolie put on a special suit made of carbon fiber designed to protect against both the snake's deadly grip and digestive acids.
The suit also packed a three-hour supply of oxygen, communication devices and several cameras. Before going through with the effort, Rosolie also swallowed a pill that transmitted his vitals to his team. In order to attract the snakes's attention, Rosolie doused himself in pigs blood and imitated movements of the anaconda's typical prey. The snakes usually hunt wild pigs, deer, capybaras and caiman.
Rosolie says 'it didn't take long' for the anaconda to fall for the maneuver, but wouldn't elaborate on what actually happened once the snake tried to swallow him whole. 'Experiencing that kind of power was worth everything, because it was just amazing,' he said. 'Eaten Alive' airs Sunday on Discovery Channel at 9pm ET.

"“You have to go in head first” when getting eaten alive by an anaconda, according to the Discovery Channel’s sneak peak of Eaten Alive, its newest affront to televised science. On Dec. 7, Discovery will air one brave man’s quest into (and back out of) the belly of the beast—an anaconda, to be exact. This move is only the newest entry in a growing collection of pseudoscience and outright fiction clogging the airwaves of the once-educational TV channel. On its surface, watching a “naturalist and wildlife filmmaker” survive feeding himself to a giant snake in the Amazon sounds pretty awesome—unless, of course, you’re the giant snake. But it’s gratuitous cruelty. If this were an attempt to understand snake digestion, the filmmakers could easily feed the snake a camera. If this were about gawking at a snake eating something huge, there’s always that YouTube video of the python eating a crocodile—a true act of nature wherein no animal was duped into wasting its energy eating (and then regurgitating) a guy who covered himself in pig’s blood. Discovery has already shot the program, and it says both man and snake are alive and well. A naturalist has spoken of his death-defying close encounter with a 20ft snake - and when we say close, you couldn't get much closer. Paul Rosolie revealed he was wrapped inside the clutches of an anaconda and squeezed so hard he could feel his arms 'ripping out of their sockets'. The 27-year-old was filmed being 'eaten alive' by the biggest and mightiest snake species on Earth as an experiment. The results will be shown at 9pm, tomorrow night on America's Discover Channel then in the UK on Friday Rosolie told the Daily Mail: "She nailed me right in the face, and the last thing I remember was her mouth open wide, straight in my face, and everything went black. "I went limp and let it constrict. All the while I was just thinking: 'Eat, eat, eat!'" For his experiment, he needed a streamlined carbon-fibre suit to protect him from being crushed. Engineers used a 3D scan of his body to make sure it fit his 5ft 9in frame closely. The sealed suit was finished with built-in cameras and a radio mic so he could communicate with his watching team. Pig blood was slathered on the suit to make Rosolie smell more like prey. Added to this, he said: "I had to provoke a defence response from the snake and turn it into a predator. I got down on all fours to make contact with it and simply let it bite me." He described the crushing feeling of the constriction as like being caught under a powerful wave. "She wrapped around me and I felt my suit cracking and my arms ripping out of their sockets," he said. "It was absolutely terrifying." Enveloped in the snake’s coils, Rosolie couldn’t see anything but he was able to radio back to his team to say he was alive. They agreed once he was in past his waist, they would pull him out before it became too difficult to extract him without injuring him or the snake. Months later Rosolie is still not entirely recovered from the experience. Discovery Channel : Reality TV's New Extreme - 'Eaten Alive' by a Giant Anaconda Snake
Discovery Channel is promising to go where reality television has never gone before: inside the mouth of an anaconda. The December premiere of “Eaten Alive” promises to show naturalist and filmmaker Paul Rosolie being swallowed alive by a giant snake, after covering himself in pig’s blood while wearing a custom-built suit. “You have to go head-first,” Rosolie says in a clip promoting the program. Paul Rosolie has agreed to be consumed by the giant snake, which traditionally drowns or suffocates its food by crushing it before swallowing it whole. Rosolie will wear what the channel has referred to as a "snake-proof suit," and will be covered in pig's blood to make himself a more palatable meal. He's reportedly being removed from the snake after being "eaten" with a cord attached to the suit. Critics have voiced concern, wondering whether the snake was harmed during the filming, but Rosolie defended the program. Still, while Rosolie presumably emerged from his snake engagement without damage, it doesn't sound all that pleasant for the unsuspecting snake — and there are early rumblings that animal rights experts will try to prevent the episode from airing. Many are already speaking against the show, calling the experiment animal cruelty and asking if the event will be harmful or stressful to the snake. Pet Snakes, a website for those who keep snakes as pets, warns that regurgitation of undigested food can be unhealthy for the animals. A petition has already been set up at Change.org asking the network not to air the show. The network also assured that the stunt's announcement is not a hoax and that snake itself does not die during the special. “If u know me – I would never hurt a living thing,” Rosolie wrote on Twitter. He responds to naysayers on his website by writing, "For those worried about animal cruelty, I invite you to research my work — read my book ["Mother of God: An Extraordinary Journey into the Uncharted Tributaries of the Western Amazon"]. Then ask yourself: would this person ever hurt an animal?" This hasn't stopped animal rights activists from speaking out against the stunt, however. Twitter has been buzzing with horrified comments regarding the premise of the program since Wednesday, when Discovery released both a promo and a sneak peek of Eaten Alive on YouTube. Having a large snake swallow a human in a special suit might serve as entertainment for some, but overall, it’s probably not the simplest way to see inside an anaconda, nor the safest — for man or snake. Is Discovery’s Eaten Alive entertainment, science, or just animal cruelty? "Eaten Alive" is set to air on Dec. 7 at 9 p.m. on the Discovery Channel. “Eaten Alive” marks another “shock” reality program for Discovery Channel, which also airs “Naked and Afraid” – featuring survivors learning how to bond and survive sans clothes – and “Naked and Afraid,” with strangers bound to each other while participating in survival challenges. But the programs are drawing viewers, with Discovery Channel reporting double-digit viewership ratings increases for October 2014, compared with October 2013. Eaten Alive: Paul Rosolie Explains Why he Filmed Himself Being Eaten by an Anaconda!!!
Man eaten alive by Anaconda Daredevil naturalist who allowed himself to be swallowed alive by an anaconda so he could film INSIDE the creature reveals he was more scared for the animal's safety than his own The American naturalist who filmed himself getting eaten by an anaconda for a highly-anticipated television event has spoken out about what inspired him to take part in the risky stunt. This past summer, Rosolie donned a special suit to let a 25 foot 400 pound snake eat him in a dangerous performance set to air on Discovery Channel this Sunday. Overall, Rosolie was so confident in the suit's design that he was more worried about the snake's safety than his own. 'I didn’t want to stress [the snake] out too much. I wanted to make sure that the suit was smooth and wasn’t going to hurt the snake,' Rosolie said. ' I really wasn’t scared. We tested this suit and worked on this with experts so we knew I was going to be safe.' Amid a backlash from animal rights activists who believe the anaconda was tortured by being forced to eat Rosolie, a man much bigger than its usual prey, Rosolie has responded to say the snake was unharmed and that the experiment was designed to raise money to save the animal's habitat. 'I wanted to do something that would absolutely shock people,' Rosolie told the New York Post. 'Environmentalists, we love to preach to the choir. What I’m trying to do with this is bring in a bunch of people that wouldn’t necessarily know what’s going on in the Amazon.' 'For the type of attention that this is getting and for the type of emergency that’s going on down there desperate times, desperate measures. Once they see the show, these are people who are going to be supporters' he said. 'It’s a cool little dissonance there they’re all coming out against me, but I’m the guy that’s been down there in the jungle trying to protect these things.' Rosolie, a New Jersey native who first visited the Amazon at age 18, spent 60 days hiking through the rain forest in Peru with a team of about a dozen people searching for the right anaconda to take part in the stunt. In the process, the team also started the first scientific study of anacondas in the wild, taking down the weight, length and sex of each snake they came across. They also took samples of their skin to test for mercury, a by product of the gold mining industry which is encroaching on the creature's habitat. The special on Sunday will be promoting a fundraiser to raise money to save the snake's habitat. The naturalist and his crew had nearly run out of the time allotted by the Discovery Channel when they finally tracked down a female green anaconda that Rosolie first spotted in 2008. He says it took 12 people fighting in water above their heads to catch the 25 foot 400-500 pound anaconda, adding that herpetologists were on site to make sure the snake was in good health throughout its short captivity. Armor: In order to survive being eaten by the snake, Rosolie wore a custom-designed suit that protected him from the snake's strong grasp and digestive acids. It also packed cameras, communication devices and enough air to last him three hours From there, Rosolie put on a special suit made of carbon fiber designed to protect against both the snake's deadly grip and digestive acids. The suit also packed a three-hour supply of oxygen, communication devices and several cameras. Before going through with the effort, Rosolie also swallowed a pill that transmitted his vitals to his team. In order to attract the snakes's attention, Rosolie doused himself in pigs blood and imitated movements of the anaconda's typical prey. The snakes usually hunt wild pigs, deer, capybaras and caiman. Rosolie says 'it didn't take long' for the anaconda to fall for the maneuver, but wouldn't elaborate on what actually happened once the snake tried to swallow him whole. 'Experiencing that kind of power was worth everything, because it was just amazing,' he said. 'Eaten Alive' airs Sunday on Discovery Channel at 9pm ET.- published: 02 Dec 2014
