Kanpur: Heavy rainfall continued for the third day here on Friday. The meteorological department had predicted more showers on Saturday. In the past two days, the city witnessed good rainfall which would help in reducing rain deficit. The rainfall turned the weather pleasant and maximum temperature went below normal. The maximum temperature fell by four degrees. It was recorded at 26 degrees, three degrees below normal.
On Friday, the rainfall which began at around 7 in the morning continued for over six hours. The rain slowed down but not stopped till 1 pm. As much as 41.9 mm of rainfall was recorded. On Thursday, the city had received around 30 mm of showers. On Wednesday, around 9 mm of rainfall had lashed the city. In all, more than 90 mm of rainfall had lashed the city since Wednesday.
Meteorological experts said that rainfall, which was expected in August, is lashing the city in September. The most interesting fact about Thursday and Friday was that rainfall was uniform in nature.
The weather was cloudy since morning. Dense clouds had enveloped the sky. Thunderstorm and gusty winds brought in the feel of chill in the air.
Many schoolchildren were on way to school when the rainfall began. The lucky ones reach school without getting wet but many got stranded. In many schools, attendance remained thin. But by the time the schools closed for the day, the showers stopped. They got a perfect chance to enjoy the weather.
The weatherman predicted more showers in the next 48 hours. In the past 24 hours from 8.30 am on Thursday to 8.20 am on Friday, 42.4 mm of showers lashed the city. In the entire day (after 8.30 am), 26.8 mm of rain was recorded.
