A mass knife attack at a train station in the southwestern Chinese city of Kunming left more than 30 dead and over 130 injured. A group of assailants, dressed in black and wielding large knives and machetes attacked people at random a train station in the southwestern Chinese city of Kunming late on Saturday. Police shot dead five of the attackers and authorities are actively hunting down the remaining assailants. The black-clad attackers, covered their faces with masks and stormed the crowded train station at 9:20 pm. A witness said she heard people around her shouting "they are hacking people" and along with others ran into the train station seeking shelter. She next saw a tall man donning a mask and wielding a machete, lashing out indiscriminately. According to another witness account, police initially ineffectively fired teargas at the assailants, before eventually firing at them. Officials called the assault well-planned and blamed Xinjiang separatists for the deadly attack at the train station. State media even went as far as to call the act China's "911" and resolutely called for a crackdown on terrorism. Chinese president Xi Jinping has called for "all-out efforts" to bring to justice those involved in the attack. Local police have set up checkpoints along every route out of the city to ensure suspects are unable to escape. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Judge Thokozile Masipa clears Oscar Pistorius of all murder charges, saying the state had failed to prove the Olympic star intended to kill his girlfriend or an imagined intruder on Valentine's Day last year South African judge clears Oscar Pistorius of all murder charges, saying prosecutors had failed to prove the Olympic star intended to kill his girlfriend or an imagined intruder on Valentine's Day last year. A verdict on the less serious charge of culpable homicide is still to come. Although judge Thokozile Masipa described the 27-year-old as a "very poor" and "evasive" witness, she said this did not mean the track star was necessarily guilty in a case she said was based entirely on circumstantial evidence. "The state has not proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty of premeditated murder," Masipa told the Pretoria's High Court. "There are just not enough facts to support such a finding." She then proceeded to absolve Pistorius, who said he shot model and law graduate Reeva Steenkamp in the mistaken belief she was an intruder hiding in a lavatory cubicle, of the lesser murder charge of dolus eventualis. "Clearly he did not subjectively foresee this as a possibility that he would kill the person behind the door – let alone the deceased – as he thought she was in the bedroom," she told the packed courtroom. As she delivered her decision, Pistorius, who would have faced at least 25 years behind bars for premeditated murder, sat sobbing in the dock, tears streaming down his cheeks. Obama Delivers a Statement About ISIS / ISIL on the Eve of 9/11
Obama Delivers a Statement About ISIS / ISIL on the Eve of 9/11

Speaking from the State Floor in the White House on September 10, 2014, President Obama addressed the nation on the situation in Iraq and the United States’ strategy to degrade and defeat ISIL, a terrorist organization. In his statement, he makes it clear that ISIL is not Islamic, and ISIL is not a "state", and are terrorists to be dealt with quickly and harshly. Concerned for the welfare of Americans and other nations, President Obama said he would meet the terrorist threat with "strength and resolve", and confirmed over 150 different military strikes had been recently delivered. With a new Iraqi government recently in place, America will lead a broad coalition to destroy ISIL, through a systematic series of air strikes and ground support through training, intelligence and equipment, no matter where the threat lies, including Iraq and Syria. To summarize the President's address, he is calling for the support of Congress for the United States to take a role to stamp out ISIS / ISIL, only where those in the local regions lead the campaigns with US and Coalition support. Humanitarian support will also be a focus of the US as they assist victims of ISIL / ISIS.
