Patrick Hernandez (born 6 April 1949, Le Blanc-Mesnil, Seine-Saint-Denis) is a French singer who had a worldwide hit with "Born to Be Alive" in 1979.
Born to a Spanish father and a half-Italian/half-Austrian mother, Hernandez grew up in the 1960s and was interested in music. He toured dancehalls and ballrooms of southern France with a number of groups over the next decade. Hernandez met his music partner Hervé Tholance, an arranger, guitarist, and vocalist, during that period. The two formed a duo and started achieving local success backing French musicians such as Francis Cabrel, Laurent Voulzy, and the French group Gold.
In 1978, Hernandez met the producer Jean Vanloo with disco music at its peak, and signed a recording contract. Hernandez went to Waterloo, Belgium to work on songs.
After working for about a year, the songs were released on the Aariana sub-label Aquarius Records (in France) in November 1978. The first single that was released was the disco song "Born to Be Alive". Its success was immediate, and in January 1979, Hernandez received his first gold record from Italy. The song spread throughout Europe, where it hit #1 in France in April and remained there until July. By then, the United States had caught on, and after some remixing, the record was signed to the A-Tom-Mik label. The remixed version was released on a commercial 12" single, and it peaked in the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart at #1 and crossed over to the Billboard Hot 100 peaking at #16. It sold over one million copies in the US. The track reached #10 in the UK Singles Chart. By year's end, Hernandez had racked up fifty two gold and platinum record awards from more than fifty different countries.[citation needed]
(Born born) on the day I was born everyone laughed but I cried
They say I was born with a silver tear in my eye
Must have been I felt the wind that cold November morn
And I knew it would blow me no good from the day I was born
I was born at an early age and that's when I'll die
You've seen to that by loving then saying goodbye
You held me near then left me here forsaken and forlorn
And I'm sittin' here now wishin' I'd never been born
For I was born to love one woman born to be with you
You were born to hurt me born to be untrue
Some loves come up roses but my love came up thorns
And I'm sittin' here now wishin' I'd never been born

Born to love one woman...
[Loomis, Dane]
Religion changed the face of man, thou shalt not kill, we all are gone
The seed of ignorance is born thou shalt not think, thou shalt conform
The pigs order us to follow orders and obey
The flies drink the decaying nectar of their tortured effigy
Cling to wasted beliefs and visions and bathe in apathy again
No solution, the retribution of spiritual sickness begins
The legacy of suffering is through, the guilt we bear shall not tear us in two
Born we are the same, within the silence, indifference be Thy name
Torn we walk alone, we sleep in silent shades
The grandeur fades, the meaning never known
If nothing in the world can change our children will inherit nothing
Born we are the same, within the silence, indifference be Thy name
Torn we walk alone, we sleep in silent shades
The grandeur fades, the meaning never known
The pigs call for pure submission and fall into the fray
The lonely hunter beats his shallow drum, the soundtrack of world disarray
Cling to wasted beliefs and visions and bathe in apathy again
No solution, the retribution of spiritual sickness begins
Born we are the same, within the silence, indifference be Thy name
Torn we walk alone, we sleep in silent shades
The grandeur fades, the meaning never known
As I stand here watching your worn-out shell
You used it well
I can feel it in the atmosphere somehow
I want to see with your eyes right now
I know you've never been this close before
You've been feeling homesick for a while
This is the moment you've been longing for
The gate is slowly opening more and more
And I'm already missing you
I always thouhgt the walls between
The worlds were bigger was thicker
I was born to laugh
I learned to laugh through my tears
I was born to love
I'm gonna learn to love without fear
Pour me a glass of wine
Talk deep into the night
Who knows, what we'll find
Intuition, deja vu
The Holy Ghost haunting you
Whatever you got, I don't mind
I was born to laugh
I learned to laugh through my tears
I was born to love
I'm gonna learn to love without fear
Put your elbows on the table
I'll listen long as I am able
There's nowhere I'd rather be
Secret fears, the supernatural
Thank God for this new laughter
Thank God the joke's on me
'Cause I was born to laugh
I learned to laugh through my tears
And I was born to love
I'm gonna learn to love without fear
We've seen the landfill rainbow
We've seen the junkyard of love
Baby, it's no place for you and me
I was born to laugh
I learned to laugh through my tears
And I was born to love
I'm gonna learn to love without fear
I was born to laugh
I learned to laugh through my tears
And I was born to love
I'm gonna learn to love without fear
I was born to laugh
I learned to laugh through my tears
And I was born to love
I'm gonna learn to love without fear
I was born to love
And our father will try again
to reach our bleeding hearts
Whithin sub minds are fragments
of a never ending war
Despite the sorrow
and the loss of reason
His sickened soul will try to touch us
one more time
We are the messengers of
disbelief and loss
Don't even try to hesitate
I am the serpent from the other side
I offer the pure and dreadful sins
No future just ths moment yet to live
I am the unpredictable glory
Glory to the existence of hate
Born from the creature
I am the unpredicatable glory
Glory to the ruin of faith
Bruised and buried by blood
Secrifice the broken
Reborn as a builder
He who creates the power of all
Sacrifice the creature
Reborn as a goddess
She who creates all flesh and its fall
I am the unpredictable glory
Glory to the existenceof hate
is it a garden waiting to grow
is it a secret that nobody knows
is it a poison or is it a cure
contaminated when you think that it's pure
born live on the air
at a tv station with the whole world there
born holding your hand
spinning the big wheel with the studio band
will you be true or will you be false
is it an omen or is it a curse
will it be early or will it be late
is it a dead end or is there a gate
born live on the air...
will you be here or some place else
will you be tired or will I have to dance
will you be sexy will you lie on the floor
or will you forget completely what I came here for
born live on the air...
have you been drinking or is it your scent
there's so many bottles is your money all spent
Is there a corner to put all this mess
you'd think you were lazy, please undress
[Intro: Lyrics Born (Joyo Velarde)]
Girl I got you good now...

[Verse One: Lyrics Born]
Girl, I know that look when I see it
I know that I can make it work girl, believe it
There's big things 'bout to happen to you now, just release it
I'm like a hunter that searches for your finest weakness (Listen!)
'Cause I take my time, and I bait the line
Then I creep like a lion, 'till the prey is mine
Can ya taste it?
They way I slip it and give it to you little by little
And minute by minute 'till it's mixed in your system like venomous liquid
It gets so addicted, you're feeling so twisted
You can't live without a hit of it... I'm so wicked
Live it
[Chorus: Joyo Velarde]
Fiendin', schemin', stealin'
Losing it oveeeeeerrrr youuuu
I've been cryin', lyin'
Doin' it all fooooorrr youuuu
Schemin', pleadin', theivin'

I do it over and over and over and over and over againnn
I do it over and over and over and over and over againnn
I don't, know who, I am, anymore, anymore, anymorrree
I don't, know who, I am, anymore, anymore, anymorrree
[Verse Two: Lyrics Born]
I'm flowin', through your veins
And I'm floatin', through your dreams
Holdin', like a leash
And I won't let, you release
I'm always, on your brain
In the mornin', you awake
'Till the moment, you're asleep
I'm holdin', all the strings
You're acting so beside yourself
You know you're fat like (?) can't even recognize you girl
I can't believe you let me in your life
And you can't believe you're so hypnotised
You do anything, say anything, prove anything, praise anything
Sell anything, give anything, steal anything, risk anything
Kill anything, bank anything, anything that the women do for me
(dendendendendennn) (Wrap it up!)
[Chorus: Joyo Velarde]
Fiendin', schemin', stealin'
Losing it oveeeeeerrrr youuuu
I've been cryin', lyin'
Doin' it all fooooorrr youuuu
Schemin', pleadin', theivin'
Losing it oveeeeeerrrr youuuu
I do it over and over and over and over and over againnn
I do it over and over and over and over and over againnn
I don't, know who, I am, anymore, anymore, anymorrree
I don't, know who, I am, anymore, anymore, anymorrree
I don't, know who, I am, anymore, anymore, anymorrree
I don't, know who, I am, anymore, anymore, anymorrree

You say you love me so bad but you won't let me be myself
You say you love me so bad but I can't act like no one else
You say you love me so bad baby that's not how I do
You say you love me so bad why can't we play the hand we're dealt
[Joyo Verlade]
Love me, love me, love me, love me like you want to be loved
Or you're gonna lose, me lose me, lose me baby cos I can't be what you want
[x2]
[LB]
You say lately I've been acting strangely and irrationally
And after all the things I've said, you're confused and rightfully
I said I wanna take you there when she tries I just retreat
And says that I won't open up and when I do she's pulling teeth
I admit that I have some baggage I aint ready to release
Commitment in relationships comes with difficulty
She says I sabotage myself I said I don't disagree
She says until you leave the past behind we'll never be happy
Love me, love me, love me, love me like you want to be loved
Or you're gonna lose, me lose me, lose me baby cos I can't be what you want
[x2]
[Joyo Verlade]
Spend to much time thinking 'bout the things that you don't have
Are you so blind that you can't see whats in your hands
Love is never more than just a breath away
Baby say my name I'll be there instantly
We could be so close but still you hesitate
Can't release the memory of yesterday
Love me, love me, love me, love me like you want to be loved
Or you're gonna lose, me lose me, lose me baby cos I can't be what you want
[x2]
[LB]
You say you love me so bad but you won't let me be myself
You say you love me so bad but I can't act like no one else
You say you love me so bad baby that's not how I do
You say you love me so bad why can't we play the hand we're dealt [x3]
[Joyo Verlade]
The things I do I don't do just to please you
[Intro]
His name is (Lyrics Born)
and he is, as they say, wild and crazy
As a composer, arranger, and producer
He's exploring it all
From the furthest reaches of musical outer space
To the most down to earth funk
And he sounds, well, he sounds exactly like this
[Verse 1]
Nobody 'members those
Rap City episodes from twenty years ago
When you were the guest host
Past history, let it go
Get off on a medical
Pack a duffle bag with all your wrinkled clothes and pedal home
Get a little dictaphone and sit alone
In the middle of the room and let it flow
Wouldn't it be better
If you went and chose a new career path
Like a shepherd or a flight attendant on an aircraft?
You're pitiful, a pollywog
Tiny fishy in a smaller pond
Holding barbie dolls and leftover beads from the Mardi Gras
Actin hella hard but that's just poppycock
'Cause inside you're hella soft like a Jolly Rancher lollypop
I'll give you cauliflower ears stupid
You're weird
Feelin blue
On a stool somewhere, two-fisting beers
At a Hofbrau
Moaning like a hot cow
Cryin on the shoulder of some old man you met just now
[Chorus]
I'm smarter than you
I'm harder than you
I'm better than you
I'm just raw
I'm hotter than you
More popular than you
More clever than you
And goshdarn it, people like me
I'm smarter than you
I'm harder than you
I'm better than you
I'm just raw
I'm hotter than you
More popular than you
More clever than you
And goshdarn it, people like me
[Verse 2]
Look I'm sorry, mate
This is awkward, k?
Little hard to say
So I'll just say it
Me and your mommy date
She's awfully great
She's a soft seatmate [?]
She calls me late
Always wants to meet
On her coffee breaks
She bought me seats
To Bonnie Raitt
Now there's no concrete date
But she bought the ring
It's Marjorie May [?]
And my stockings stink
From my foot up in your ass
'Cause you drive me absolutely batty
See I'm crabby when you get around me
Tell me who's your daddy
Call me Mister McAffee, your poop-deck pappy
Shut your trap and get back in the backseat of the Camry
Don't sass me or I'll backhand you
smack you with an axe-handle
Burn you with a wax candle
Slap you with a sandle
I'm trying to watch the rap channel
Can't you tell we laugh about you?
Call yourself a rapper but I gives a rat's ass about you
[Chorus]
[Verse 3]
Why do I even bother with these Hoff-brand cats
Y'all are wombats man
I'm bout to blow this pop stand
Lyrically y'all don't compare to me in any contest
Like a stealth bomber up against a Hyundai Accent
Tall-can to a shot glass
Bong-hit to a contact
Gary Coleman versus Big Boss Man
The Loch Ness Monster up against a crawdad
Talking Sly Stallone in Rocky versus Sly Stallone in Copland
Judge Judy versus Johnny Cohcran
Oh man
Nell Carter versus Karen Carpenter topless
Better yet, Broadband
Compared to a long ass
Piece of string connecting two pop cans
It's all bad
Don't quit your job at all believe me you'll be so glad back
Hold on with both hands
It's sucks washing sauce pans
I know there's an off chance that one day hip-hop heads
Will maybe feel rappers in the top-ten that crossdress
[Chorus]
[Outro]

Every time that I get up on the microphone
I gotta dedicate a rhyme to you girl, C’mon. C’mon
Every time that I get up on the microphone
I gotta dedicate a rhyme to you girl, C’mon. C’mon
I don’t care where you’re from
The first time that I saw you girl, you had me sprung
Just the way that my name rolls off your tongue
Damn near knocked all the wind out my lungs
Baby girl, you the one, you the maximum
You got every man beggin’ for scraps and crumbs
I can’t front, I want it all in one lump sum
But girl you got me waiting on my hands and thumbs
I ain’t done
Girl you got the magic touch
You seen every man out here and passed him up, except
Baby girl that’s what’s up
I can’t wait for the day when we hangin’ tough, I said
I’m not sure what you did to me, but I like it, I love
Oh, I’m not sure what you did to me, but I like it, I
love it
Said I’m not sure what you did to me, but I like it, I
love it
Oh, I’m not sure what you did to me, but I like it, I
love it
Every time that I get up on the microphone
I gotta dedicate a rhyme to you girl, C’mon. C’mon
Every time that I get up on the microphone
I gotta dedicate a rhyme to you girl, C’mon. C’mon
I don’t care what they say
I’m a ride for you girl and that’s how it’s gon’ stay
As long as we together girl, I can’t complain
If they talk, let ‘em talk, how I feel won’t change
Top notch
Baby girl you’re off the charts
And when God made you, you know he made a work of art
I wanna be with you, girl, from the finish to the start
From dusk ‘til dawn, and from morning ‘til dark
Oh my God
Whenever we apart, it’s like a poison dart shot thru my
heart
Real talk
Baby girl you’re all I want
Not with some, not with part, but with all my heart,
girl
I’m not sure what you did to me, but I like it, I love
Oh, I’m not sure what you did to me, but I like it, I
love it
Said I’m not sure what you did to me, but I like it, I
love it
Oh, I’m not sure what you did to me, but I like it, I
love it
Every time that I get up on the microphone
I gotta dedicate a rhyme to you girl, C’mon. C’mon
Every time that I get up on the microphone
I gotta dedicate a rhyme to you girl, C’mon. C’mon
Girl, you look so good, I wanna drive it on home like a
nail through wood
Girl you look so nice, every time you walk by you make
a man look twice
Girl you look so fine, wanna say so much, can you make
a little time?
Girl you look so cute, women gettin’ at me just to get
at you
I’m not sure what you did to me, but I like it, I love
Oh, I’m not sure what you did to me, but I like it, I
love it
Said I’m not sure what you did to me, but I like it, I
love it
Oh, I’m not sure what you did to me, but I like it, I
love it
Well I came at you a young boy, girl
With no experience.
Year in year out
We had our ups and downs
But I always took it serious.
I made a joke
I played the fool
I took time, made all the plans.
I know I told you that we were
Supposed to have something
Made for this weekend
But I changed my mind.
I changed my mind.
I changed my mind
I changed my mind
And I changed my mind
Well it started getting cozy, girl
I let you control the reins.
And despite what I knew to be true
I'd hoped that things would change.
I'd even say I can't completely blame
But I even take 'cause was situations in
Retrospect with the things you say
Would shift direction when put into action.
But I just let it whiz on by.
People say "L-B it's goin awry!"
And I'd flip up say "that's not right."
Now I see my shit's not tight.
Now I changed my mind
[CHORUS]
Well lookin back now
I was a young man, girl.
In hindsight I regret.
I never listen to my better judgement
So my blind side got the best of me.
But we live and learn.
What you did in turn
Made me never have to settle for less.
And would I deserve and once you mature girl
You'll always be second best.
[CHORUS]
I'd even say I can't completely blame
But I even take 'cause was situations in
Retrospect with the things you say
Would shift direction when put into action.
But I just let it whiz on by.
People say "L-B it's goin awry!"
And I'd flip up say "that's not right."
Now I see my shit's not tight.
It really pains me to say things change
But your limitations would've held me back.
The things you say try to underrate me
They were just a reflection of your self-respect.
But now I let it whiz on by.
You can't tell me LB can't fly!
Kiss my wings, you can't hypnotize me!
Hear the M-singer singin this bye-bye.
I changed my mind bout this here relationship
That you've become so complacent with.
I've changed my mind.
You've sacrificed everything we had
For a happenin' price.
Changed my mind, plain and simple
Now tame and gentle
Changed my mind, i tried
I kept it quiet now why the hell
[Verse 1]
I got to put this down for real man, I got to be honest
I can't be worried 'bout, all the fellas, little sad commas
They all think that they experts, and yet they got drama
I love 'em, they my partners but tommorow's not promised
And life is too short to really not do it big
And I can't live it, thinkin what I could or should've did
'Cause at some point, you really gotta take that leap of faith
And do exactly what your homeboy said wasn't safe
'Cause I really do believe that god awards risk
Especially with love man, 'cause that's the hardest shit
To give yourself a hundred percent in this partnership
For a lot of people, that's just a little hard to give
But if it feels right, it clicks and everything's legit
We could have it for a minute, ain't nobody really trip
And in your heart you say, it can't get deeper than this
Then there really ain't no reason why it shouldn't be it
[Chorus x4: Joyo Velarde]
I can't wait for your looooove
[Verse 2]
They say that man choose with their eyes, Women choose with their ears
Whatever choice it was we made, brought us here
Some decisions we make out of faith, some out of fear
Sometimes it's so confusin, we don't know which way to steer
Some of us have been through so much in life already
That we totally lost, the desire to feel anything
Ice cold below, the fire below senegrate
Behind ninety foot walls, that can't nobody penetrate
A lot of cats out there was damaged
They feel they gotta act a certain way, otherwise there ain't manership
A lotta women got issues with trust
'Cause the man that they love had bounced on 'em more than once
But you know we all been there, it's not that bomb at all
Just chop it as a loss, get back up and walk it off
Can't wave the white flag, can't throw in the towel
Love is a limited time offer, act now
[Chorus]
Can you hear me, I'm callin. Can you hear me?
I'm callin. Can you hear me?
[Verse 3]
There ain't no love in your love, then that's some sad ass shit
This woman I got, she the bad ass shit
That's no exxageration, man I'm sayin she was true
Other women walk by, they go bow, wince and lue
I'm commited but now, I'm not blind, I been around
Believe me when I tell ya she shoppin 'em all down
And I really don't know where I'd be without her
But when I say that, I don't stutter, mutter or slur
'Cause many times I was lost, with my focus at a side
Everytime, there she was, pointin at the finish line
There ain't never been a moment where she was in need
I wasn't right there with her, goin at the same speed
What makes it so beautiful and unsual is that it's mutual
And if the two of use are gonna have a future, that's crucial
Rest assure, I ain't goin nowhere
And I ain't sayin that just 'cause she's right here, right here
For all the late night peoples out there
"Rock rock y'all.." [x2]
"Rock y'all.." [x2]
".. and let's do it!"
[Lyrics Born]
You know there comes a time in everybody's life when
we just need a little bit of guidance
You know we get a little lost in the fog
and it sort of impedes our vision
But there's a way that we can figure it all out
and make it happen, make it work
The purpose of producin beautiful soul music is two-fold
One is fun - two goes to mute all the roof hogs
Let's build, useful tools, find some resolution in our lives
Three's to get your groove on, but it ain't like there's no
particular order, this ain't a true/false, answer only part of it
Everything's got an art to it
So we bottle it, market it, it don't hold water
well then we sharpen it, carve a little niche where we can all exist
as ourselves, not our sales
Despite our ails (OOH DO TELL!)
Cause I can't part with the alcohol, no doubt bruh
And on that note, I'm like my Southpaw Grandpah
He used to get his lamp on, he used to giggle at Tampons
And I'm probably not supposed to talk about that part
who cares though that's not important
I really broke all the sample laws with this damn song
so now I'm an outlaw
But it's time, we started talkin havin dialogue and bein honest
What's the other options - walk around, bottled up all hot and bothered
Makin assumptions and nothin gets accomplished
Can we set it off properly please?
[Chorus x2: Lyrics Born]
To the people, the people
To the people, the people
To the people people people
To the people (You're HOTT)
[Lyrics Born]
Yeah.. feelin good.. ("rock rock" .. "rock rock y'all")
The purpose of producin beautiful soul music is two-fold
One is fun - two goes to glue all the loopholes
Music is fuel, to get us where we goin in our lives
Three is still to groove on, but it ain't like there's a
paricular void, that's true though, that's my whole argument
That's where I'm at, there's where I've always been
Cause we've made accomplishments, we just need to proceed
with the utmost confidence - so, whether that encompasses you
signing up with your community nautilus
Buy a couple joggin suits, hop up on that pommel horse
and burn some ounces off your gluts, your upper abdominals
Openin offices, in major metropolises
Get some flossy cards, your logo embossed on em
Not the cost effective models
where you gotta cross the old pager number off the bottom
and draw, all kinds of lines all across it
and write your mom's spot, on top, and along the side of em
like, "Aww man, my pencil's not sharp -- know what?
Let me, let me just get your card, tight
Also, is it possible, can you run me by a Jack in the Box?"
Like I should, open office, minimize losses
Reinvest profits, we refine the process
by readin all the options, keepin all we promised
So we not caught up, all the fellas with the pants down
ladies caught topless, showin they casabas
Ignore that garbage, that was just some old nonsense
Strictly off the top shit, measurin the progress
The heart has the yardstick, anything else? Uhh yes..
"rock rock y'all.. a rock rock y'all.. and let's do it!"
[Chorus x2 w/ variations]
[Lyrics Born]
Yeah
This is the message that I'm tryin to get out to all the people
(What's that?) Just that we gotta stay positive, y'know?
Keep it (HOTT) Yeah (KEEP IT HOTT)
That's right, keep it sizzlin (REAL HOTT)
What? (REALLY HOTT)
Hehe.. SSSSSSSSSS (SSSSSSSSSSS)
(KNOW WHAT I MEAN?)
"ah rock rock y'all" [x2]
"rock y'all", "ah rock rock y'all"
[Chorus:]
Well it's one AM and I'm ready to rock
I got a million dollar record that I'm ready to drop
I'm 'bout to get it goin on, baby, ready or not
I make the FUNKY, FUNKY, FUNKY, FUNKY, funky hit records!
Well it's two AM and I'm ready to roll
I already got paid, now I'm out the do'
The Cadillac's in the back and it's ready to go
I make the FUNKY, FUNKY, FUNKY, FUNKY, funky hit records!
[Verse 1:]
I've been a cocky dude ever since 17
Every chance I get, I practice my acceptance speech
Thank you Grammys, Academy, the MTV
Just give me this award and let's not make it everything
I do it huge, I'm just the cleanest that ya care to meet
In foreign sneakers, foreign whips and foreign denim jeans
From Honolulu off to Bonnaroo in Tennessee
What I'm about to do you cockatoos won't repeat
You think I'm playin, son, I'm "Serious" as Steady B
I'm so hot I'm like a barbecue in leather jeans
I'm so hot I've got your girl doin' the centipede
I'm cuttin' deep just like the Stones, baby, "Let it Bleed"
[Chorus]
[Verse 2:]
I ain't changed or strayed away from what I told ya
I still stand behind everything I ever sold ya
Spendin all your time waitin for me to fall don't you
You gonna be waitin hella long, partnuh, bring Sudoku
These writers won't fuck with me cause I'm Japanese
If they don't touch me, you know what? Fuck these magazines!
I'm breaded up already plus I got my legacy
It ain't nuttin stoppin' me from makin history
It ain't nuttin stoppin' me from gettin chedda cheese
Even after lawyers, managers and agencies
Even after Uncle Sam and them take a piece
Now I see how Gary Coleman ain't got anything
I'm so funky like Arnold and Dudley, man
I'm so funky like Chunky Soup and Hungry Man
I'm so funky, somethin like Booty's rubberband
Y'all so unfunky, y'all just a Bootsy coverband
[Chorus]
[DJ D-Sharp cuts and scratches]
[Verse 3:]
You mighta had a chance, girl, but I'm murried now
You have no idea how much I be turnin down
You might ask what do I do when girls be flirtin now
I see ya comin, and I just turn around and bounce
I used to do the Kama Sutra in my Momma's Sentra
Like she used to do it in my father's Continental
And I do believe that moment was monumental
That's how I was conceived, let's keep that confidential
I'm old school like herringbones and nugget rings
My old school's on Pirelli's on Custom D's
I'm old school, give me mayonaisse and mustard, please
Ya flow's cool but now you ain't sayin nuttin deep
It's gon' be funk deluxe if it comes from me
It's gon' be top NOTCH to the umpth degree
Or at the very least it's gon' be a masterpiece
'Cause from me? That's what y'all accustomed to seein
(One AM...)
(I'm 'bout to get it...)
(FUNKY, FUNKY, FUNKY)
(Two AM...)
(That's right y'all, brand new!)
(Hit records!)
(Something to keep y'all contained, you feel me?)
Now he comes close gets crushed like clay packs
With unlimited flows never stay in the same spot
Everything in locks got a place to make rock
If you feel it in your heart reach out like grand fox
Baby hop on board, you don't need your payed stubs
in the galaxy bus we pullin out all stops
From the bay to LA just like the great pac
Big shout to my man cut chemist and J5
All my women in the spot thats makin the place pop
That branch from bass chocolate
Asia good cop, go in, state the obvious
Legs and tank tops
Y'all keep on truckin y'all doin a great job
For ain't no stage I won't take from playin cards
In the burgundy coats, snake boots and black socks
On the barbary coast playin host to ex wives
With the bubbly flowin cuff links and fake butts
[Chorus: x2]
When I do that damn thing
I do that damn thing
I do that damn thing
I do that there
Now I am award your fate heats
That's helped ya
one day at the altar mid general
called me in to headquarters, gave me an order
son I bestow the gift of rap on ya
fight for the cause but don't be a mortal
I'm your DJ on the steel wheel of fortune
Get me an art against lay before you show this to four more ways to change coats?
To guess the trouble is when he did what he did
Bless me with excellence with the bat and the pen
So if any ya young MC's
never passed the entry level position
I'm guessin eventually
Y'all thistle empty disappear gently
Like a whisper in the wind come messin with LB
[Chorus]
Whoa... Cut Chemist
Whoa... Bring it back now
Well abracadrabra I'll saddled up a camel
Travelled the Sahara and the avenues of Casablanca
ran into the back of a fama?
They snackin on the abba-zabba cabbage patch
A practising the macarena with who?
Santana, Santa, a panda, my gramma
Dracula, Aladdin and the delhi-lama
Berretta and a mannequin
and then I slipped on a banana landed on a hammock
In Havana sippin on a can of apple fanta
Bit by a piranha when I swam into an aness
On the back of a manta I paddled with a spatula
Back to atlanta where I had a
hamburger with hammers manager
Afterwards he handed me eleven lemons for
The Tropicana where I had a romantic encounter
With janet palmer, a tama for Selma and a calamity jane
Samantha vanity, Miss Japan, Canada
and panamarama in the back of a natura

Calling out t'all ? area crew
This is hard for me to write it's difficult to express this
Its heavy on my shoulders and the weight gets relentless
The story of brothers and a beautiful friendship
And how relations get strained with pressure and tension
Who's wrong, correct, so, so, subjective
You look back its hard cos the mind gets adventurous
Dates get mixed up facts disconnected
The only thing you remember is the feeling that you're left with
It started as a blessing
Now you could write this off as luck or one of life's coincidences
But at some point you think god damn what are the chances
People with similar interests and influences
Coming together at that moment to form a kinship
It's like you knew that you was brothers before your conception
Even if you're not a spiritual person I admit shit
At that point I wasn't but at some point it sets in
It be foolish to dismiss this as coincidence
Now this shit is different, somewhere this is written
Be part of a mission, this shit is predestined
Closer than close like flesh is to tendon
Share my 50 cent bag of chips with my freshman
Half a half a gas station sandwich no question
Talking shit to me well then talking shit to him then
Family is sacred it must be protected
Family is sacred and it must be protected
Over time I don't know what happens something got infected
People grow in different ways at different rates I guess
It ridiculous, little shit it suddenly gets big shit
Lapses in communication, glitches in the system
He said that she said what nobody said shit
But you'll never know cos everyone's passive aggressive
I sit down smoke pow wow how everyone said shit
People cease to make the effort to get to the essence
Peep this shit out though this shit is really twisted
Funny thing is that you and I do it every minute
We take it in rhetoric every time somebody says shit
Against us stock piling every little incident
What's stupid is all the bullshit that's circulating
Could be fixed in an instant with simple conversation
But you know how pride is
A bitch with her fist clenched
That mixed with the fat drama gets addictive
Wounds need dressing and they don't receive attention
It snowballs and festers and creates resentment
People demonise each other brave discontentment
But nobody could've been prepared for the next step
The nature of the predator is calculated pensive
Waiting in the brush patiently revving they engines
Despite the colour that they got all they see is crimson
Waiting for they prey to become desperate defenceless
Outside is always over just beyond the fences
Today the gate is open though today they make an entrance
Friendly at first laughs jokes like we best friends
Slowly though you start to see they become hidden agendas
Nine to five one day insecure self perceptions
Shines a spotlight on all those paranoid self perceptions
Things begin to heat up everyone's already stretched thin
How could you be well how could you be so deceptive
Any second now someone will snap like a bread stick
And what once was simply dissolves like a breath mint
Just like that you start to ask yourself questions
Is this really worth all the emotion and depressment
Do the benefits and perks outweigh the pressure
Woke up in the middle of the night cold sweating
Ass stinging no breath legs clinging to the bedside
Hard pressed just to get a little rest every night
Same shit can't remember last time that I slept right
This situation's gotten out of control
With all this stress and confrontation I just might overload
My problems follow me to sleep at night won't let me go
The more I hide the more they thrive deep down inside of my soul
Listen
Got burnt by women poor dirts? In Venice
Landlords and tenants, got served by creditors
[Joyo Verlade]
We have a deep passion
We can't keep dwelling on problems
Close relations past friendships don't last
No benefits plan, wrote a letter to my senator
[Joyo Verlade]
We have a deep passion
We can't keep dwelling on problems
This situation's gotten out of control (hey he hey)
With all this stress and confrontation I just might overload (hey he hey)
My problems follow me to sleep at night won't let me go (hey he hey)
The more I hide the more they thrive deep down inside of my soul (hey he hey)
Singing
These bad dreams [x2]
These bad dreams [x2]
Shit now I lay me down to sleep
Please god let it end once again let me live life
[Joyo Verlade]
We have a deep passion
We can't keep dwelling on problems
Cos I can't do another long dance with a ghost
See my head wanna come around half past midnight
[Joyo Verlade]
We have a deep passion
We can't keep dwelling on problems
This situation's gotten out of control (hey he hey)
With all this stress and confrontation I just might overload (hey he hey)
My problems follow me to sleep at night won't let me go (hey he hey)
The more I hide the more they thrive deep down inside of my soul (hey he hey)
[Joyo Verlade]
We have a deep passion
We can't keep dwelling on problems
yeah, one two
check this out, this might save your life
lyrics born in the house baby, uhh
you see i'm constantly improving every aspect of life
not just my music, my rhymes
but every facet requires it's due attention to shine
and through neglected with time
be getting ruined and dry
stead of fluid and right
I'm always fine tuning everything
and meditating, doing it right
cool like a slice of carrot cake
and to improvise in do or die situations they trip
leasing the crowds, and never increasing the miles
chicks creaming they draws
is how leaving they blouses
messy up they whole outfits
cause the lyrically endowed go
lyrically fouled can leave you seriously impaired
like a pyamid style in an aluminum park
i'm cooler than an ice cube in the ice tray
next to the ice rink in the side thing or a light
breeze
sipping on bacardi margarita mix with a lime squeeze
sight seeing in the south seas, bumping the I 3's
and driving high speed
Elle elay with a belly ache from laughing heavily in
the delta 88
celebrating getting rained out by my mans spouse
with car top plain down and the breaks out
got seventy lyrics for every seventy mc's
who be sharing the same styles, similar special effects
you the secretary receptionist
well i'm the president elected here to settle the debt
that's your problem that you sentimentely involved
I be calm, it aint never no conflict when i be dropping
bombs
pleasantrys aside long as your punk ass don't jump in
the cross hairs, the forecast is all clear, it's ok
you won't be a marked as a target
but talk about how you got all sorts of charts and
drawings
of rolling my destinguishing remarks
in broadcast reports of me lining the floors
all aboard, i combine the top floor resorts, the floor
plans
inform the bartender and door man
and go ahead inform the board member department head
from corporate
an assortment of corn fed swordsmen from oregon
with no departments that's ready to barge in
and you still won't have heart to charge in you marks
take this as advice and don't you never forget
my boys come, my boys coming towards gone
and if i ever write a boring song, let this in your
???? brain
and don't you never forget, i put my mind towards it
i don't never forfeit, put my mind towards it, i don't
never forfeit
like that, oohh
cause i'm constantly improving every aspect of life
not just my music, my rhymes
every facet requires it's due attention to shine
and through neglected with time
be getting ruined and dry
stead of brilliant and right
From the gate what you know about rapping motherfucker
You can't even hold the microphone without it feedbacking
Since the days of speed rapping I've been snapping cats spinal bones
(em)barras them in front of women take their little titles home
Bear in mind I come from an era in time
Where you actually had to have lyrics that rhyme
Let my baritone grind your insides, paralyse your cerebellum
Throw with your reality out of a nine mit?
Flip shit, on some pimp shit, on some rock shit
Some rap rock testosterone rip shit
Look inside every magazine you read about me
Got an excerpt, your sissy ass crew's afraid to say the fucking f-word
Tired of playing games, I don't know the password
How's about this open up the damn cash drawer
Throw the keys on the dashboard
Let the real players play this shit
Yah can fucking wretch up?
[Chorus]
Pack up get started walking
Fall back now on your losses
You can't accomplish
But you won't defeat no contest baby
Forfeit don't rock the call pit???
Chalk this up as a conquest
Some things is sacred
I don't play with my stage or my audience
Smooth talking charismatic ass ill
Talk you lady outta bra
Honda hatchback hand held y'all starved
And I'm dangling a shrimp by the fan tail
Whole audience about to fall over the handrail
I can't tell is that rapping?
Dude sound like a fucking parrot just crash landed
Man this shit is ass backwards these days real crazy
I can count on one hand cats that's truly creative
And the rest is all get along go along guys
Happy not to get involved just along for the ride
No vision, no drive, spirit or wherewithal
You can get mad and stay mad at that I don't care at all
Huge parafoils keep em cool under a parasol
Paragon of my era like sarah born?
How many different kinda tracks have y'all heard me on
Exactly and I served them all
[Chorus]
I spent ten years in these god forsaken rap trenches
With small daily victories this shits a game of inches
I sustained minor injuries scuffles with the missus
For the chance to make history I don't regret it for a minute
Seeing cats drop a small fortune on plush ride blau?
Couple years later fools is upside down
Tell me what the fuck did you get in this game for
It's like a whole world of squirrels only one acorn
I don't usually like to take it back
But realistically if this was a different era
Y'all would fail miserably
Ghetto team I'm going in, take me down fifty feet
I never let this industry put me in the guillotine
Rapelle down the skyscraper kicking in the plexiglass
Plastique on the safe boom blown to Leningrad
Stuff the cash and the formula in the fifty bag
Slide down the rope, twenty stories hail a taxi cab
[Lyrics Born, spoken]
Man I keep having these nightmares
Won't leave me alone
I can't get a good night's sleep for the life of me
It's just so much drama
personal - professional - in the world
I need your help
Help deliver me from these
Hear me out, now
[Lyrics Born]
My woman left me out to twist in the wind
She just left on a whim
And ain't nothin I can do about it
She left me with a fistfull of bills
Not a crisp dollar bill
What the hell am I gon' do about it
We had our differences but I can't believe
This is how she would leave
We ain't even get to speak about it
Eleven minutes, seven hours and a week
That's when I was last asleep
It's When she left me, come to think about it
[Lyrics Born (Joyo Velarde): x2]
One time (Shake it off)
Two times (Shake it off)
Three times (Shake it off)
(These bad dreams)
[Lyrics Born]
The other night ago the boss called me late
Wants to talk bout some thangs
Monday morning come and see about it
I feel it y'all my job's about to go
Feelin throbs in my skull
Oh my god i couldn't sleep about it
He told be lately that I'm lost on my tracks
Gonna cost me my job
Is there something we can do about it?
This motherfucker's got the balls to complain
After all that I gave
Said do what you gotta do about it
[Lyrics Born (Joyo Velarde): x4]
One time (Shake it off)
Two times (Shake it off)
Three times (Shake it off)
(These bad dreams)
[Joyo Velarde: x2]
Now I lay me down to sleep
Pray the lord my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
Pray the lord my soul to take
[scratching: Joyo Velarde]
"One...Two...Three..."
"One...Two...Three..."
"One...Two...Three..."(these bad dreams)
"One...Two...Three..."(these bad dreams)
[Lyrics Born]
Every night I toss and turn in my sleep
And it hurts when I breathe
And I'm gettin a little worried bout it
The combination of the stress and the strain
I ain't slept now for days
And I just can't get my head around it
With all the drama in the world that we live
Will we learn how to give?
I can't sit back and do nuttin bout it
I wanna know whatever happened to love
And compassion and drugs
'Cause it seem like we forgot about it
[Lyrics Born (Joyo Velarde): x4]
One time (Shake it off)
Two times (Shake it off)
Three times (Shake it off)
Stop complaining
Stop complaining
Now many songs do you figure that I've written
Since I originally started making records in this business
Back beginning in college, and it's been a menace since then
But the principal challenge, it ain't really that different
It's about me not repeating myself at all
Or at least repeating myself the least amount, I suppose
The reason being is that we need some songs
That lead us off the beaten path between my rhymes
But listen though, it's difficult now a-days
To really go against the grain, get you some accolades
Especially with these frigid, finicky, fickle-ass motherfuckers
Think they finally figured you out, the fake-ass fuckers
Stop complaining (I know, it's just that certain shit pisses me off)
Stop complaining (What am I gonna do? I mean)
Man, fuck that shit, I pay my taxes when I'm asked to
I'm not enthusiastic about it, but shit I make it happen
Yeah, it's last minute, but goddammit they cash it
"This is fiscal harassment! They keep touching my assets!"
Now I imagine I might be feeling different about it
If it was given outright, witnessing it helping somebody
But it just so happens in life, the school district's too crowded
There ain't no teachers in sight, that's why the kids are so rowdy
I just imagine some asshole with glasses on up at the capital
One of a thousand pawns packed in an office, cramped up like animals
Pictures of his sister, his mixture Lhasa Apso poodle
His 2.6 kids and the missus thumb-tacked to his cubicle
So damned detached from the average man's planet he can't fathom
That he can ever be anything other than stats, fat and taxable
He's getting his usual, ritual 2 o'clock cup of noodles on
Fucking you with your W-2, with his John Denver music on
"Hey..um.oooh, I love this one. Hey Lil? Can you get me the file on.?"
"Blah blah blah blah blah?"
"Yeah..he's making too much money"
Stop complaining (I know, Ladies.it's just)
Stop complaining (I'm trying, I'm really trying)
Stop complaining (Yeah I know, lets give it. )
Stop complaining (I wonder what do they say about me?)
Is he a role model we can all follow full throttle
So we don't bother having to create our own model
That we go by? A fall guy I can hold accountable?
Cuz I don't want to hold the bottle for my own child
Is it really my place to raise little Billy
when Hilly and William should be building with him in the living room
Instead of bailing on him, and alienating him, and basically failing him
Sending him sailing on a mission to oblivion?
Then, inevitably on his day in court and Billy ain't to blame
The bailiff asks him to raise his arm and say his name in court
Of course his parents ain't in court, they play it off
Saying it ain't his fault
Blame it on Asian Born, or his favorite artist
Beg your pardon?
Now, I do admit that in the music business
people do and say some really stupid shit
Kids are zooming in and using what we do and say
I can see how you can say "do not abuse your influence"
But to all the Hillaries and the Williams of the new millennium
If you really aren't feeling like living with the children will be a fulfilling experience
Or something you envision yourself willingly
and unconditionally committed to from the beginning
Maybe you shouldn't be bumping bellies from the giddyup anyway, dummy
Stop complaining (Well, for now)
Stop complaining (Man, YOU stop complaining)
Stop complaining
