Martin Luther (/ˈluːθər/;German: [ˈmaɐ̯tiːn ˈlʊtɐ]; 10 November 1483 – 18 February 1546) was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, former monk and a seminal figure in the Protestant Reformation. Luther came to reject several teachings and practices of the Late Medieval Catholic Church. He strongly disputed the claim that freedom from God's punishment for sin could be purchased with money. He proposed an academic discussion of the power and usefulness of indulgences in his Ninety-Five Theses of 1517. His refusal to retract all of his writings at the demand of Pope Leo X in 1520 and the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V at the Diet of Worms in 1521 resulted in his excommunication by the Pope and condemnation as an outlaw by the Emperor.
Luther taught that salvation and subsequently eternal life is not earned by good deeds but is received only as a free gift of God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ as redeemer from sin. His theology challenged the authority and office of the Pope by teaching that the Bible is the only source of divinely revealed knowledge from God and opposed sacerdotalism by considering all baptized Christians to be a holy priesthood. Those who identify with these, and all of Luther's wider teachings, are called Lutherans even though Luther insisted on Christian or Evangelical as the only acceptable names for individuals who professed Christ.
Clinton Richard Dawkins FRS FRSL (born 26 March 1941) is an Englishethologist, evolutionary biologist, and writer. He is an emeritus fellow of New College, Oxford, and was the University of Oxford's Professor for Public Understanding of Science from 1995 until 2008.
Dawkins first came to prominence with his 1976 book The Selfish Gene, which popularised the gene-centred view of evolution and introduced the term meme. In 1982, he introduced into evolutionary biology the influential concept that the phenotypic effects of a gene are not necessarily limited to an organism's body, but can stretch far into the environment. This concept is presented in his book The Extended Phenotype. In 2006, he founded the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science.
Dawkins is a noted atheist, and is well known for his criticism of creationism and intelligent design. In his 1986 book The Blind Watchmaker, he argues against the watchmaker analogy, an argument for the existence of a supernatural creator based upon the complexity of living organisms. Instead, he describes evolutionary processes as analogous to a blind watchmaker. In his most popular book, his 2006 book The God Delusion, Dawkins contends that a supernatural creator almost certainly does not exist and that religious faith is a delusion. He is an opponent of creationism being taught in schools. He makes regular television and radio appearances, predominantly discussing his books, his atheism and his ideas and opinions as a public intellectual.

Old Lutherans are German Lutherans in Prussia and Silesia who refused to join the Prussian Union of churches in the 1830s and 1840s.Prussia's king Frederick William III was determined to unify the Protestant churches, to homogenize their liturgy, organization and even their architecture. In a series of proclamations over several years the Church of the Prussian Union was formed, bringing together the majority group of Lutherans, the minority of Reformed. The main effect was that the government of Prussia had full control over church affairs, with the king recognized as the leading bishop. ---Image-Copyright-and-Permission--- About the author(s): Jed License: Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 (CC-BY-SA-3.0) Author(s): Jed (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Jed) ---Image-Copy...
Instead of focusing on theology, the British love meditating on snow, silence, and livestock in their Christmas hymns. Martin Luther finds this annoying.

This is a movie of the congregation of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Valley City, North Dakota taken in April 1939 at the last service in the old church building. It was Easter. I welcome anyone who knows names of these folks as I don't know them. The kids would be in their 70s and early 80s now. This was transferred to video by George Amann.

http://www.logosapologia.com While it is a dark and sad day for those who once considered the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America a place of worship, the holy living God has displayed his glorious power in a overtly miraculous manner which is not often seen in the New Testament era. The ELCA voted to separate itself from biblical Christianity by accommodating and endorsing unrepentant homosexual relations on Wednesday August 19, 2009. At precisely 2 PM - the deadline for the "Social Statement on Human Sexuality" - the Lord sent a tornado, defying conventional wisdom, directly to the Minneapolis convention center and Central Lutheran Church area. So intentional and directed was this action that it sheered the cross clean off of the historic steeple while leaving the roof and building in...

A German Christmas Service held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa, at 2 PM on December 15, 2013.
INTRODUCTION The Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod (LCMS) published a set of 78 rpm phonograph records through the Concordia Publishing House in St. Louis, probably to coincide with the introduction of the 1941 hymnal. That traditional hymnal has since been replaced throughout most churches with yet another hymnal featuring more contemporary forms of praise music, to the disappointment of some. To the "old-timers" I lovingly dedicate this video. These fragile original records were borrowed from the record collection of my fellow-collector and organist friend, Ralph Pugh. TECHNICAL DETAILS The recordings were made on location and were probably cut on acetate disks using a portable cutter. The results were less than studio grade. Some background noise will be noticed due to record wear...

Marcus and Dr. Marshner answer open-line questions of the audience. Born in Baltimore, Dr. Marshner was raised in the Lutheran Church. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Gettysburg College as a pre-ministerial student. An interest in Old Testament exegesis led him to postpone entry into the Lutheran seminary in order to pursue a degree at the Yale graduate school, where he studied Hebrew, Akkadian, Aramaic, and other Semitic languages. The impossibility of reconciling the historical-critical method of exegesis with the method of Christ and his Apostles forced him to deeper philosophical and theological questions. His studied finally brought him to be received into the Catholic Church, in 1967. Dr. Marshner is a Thomistic theologian, ethicist, and a founding professor at Christendom Co...
Martin Luther's — Here I stand The Speech that launched the Protestant Reformation In the late afternoon of April 18, 1521, in the city of Worms, Germany, Martin Luther, a 37 year-old Catholic monk appeared before Charles the Fifth, the Holy Roman Emperor at the imperial assembly. Luther was called to answer certain charges and to make public confession to the 'errors' found within the multitude of books he had written. The speech he delivered that day, Here I Stand, marked the beginning of the Reformation, a critical turning point in Christian history, that decisively altered the spiritual map of the world. In this recording of one of the most consequential speeches ever given, Max McLean introduces the events leading up to the Diet of Worms; Martin Luther's prayer the night bef...
