Dara is a name with more than one origin.
It is found in the Bible's Old Testament Books of Chronicles. Dara was a biblical descendant of Judah known for his wisdom. (The Bible. 1 Chronicles 2:6)
In Cambodian Khmer, Dara is a name for a boy or a girl meaning "star". In Turkish and in Punjabi, Dara means "leader". In Persian Dara (Persian: دارا) means "wealthy" and is a boy's name. In the Swahili version Dara means "the beautiful one". In Irish Dara means "oak". But in Indonesian, Dara means "girl", "young woman", or "virgin".
Dara is also frequently used in Ireland (and the United States), as either a male or a female given name, and it also occurs as a surname. The spelling varies, with variations including Dara, Daire and Darragh. The Irish form is probably derived from doire, the Irish word for "oak tree", though as a surname it may be a version of the Irish name Mac Dubhdara. In Irish and Scottish Gaelic, dara means "second". It is also used in Scotland as an abbreviation for "Dragon Killer."[citation needed]
Dara Rolins, also known as Darin[k]a Rolincová (born Darina Gambošová, December 7, 1972) is a Slovak recording artist and entrepreneur. Her music career began at the age of nine, after being casted in television musical Zázračný autobus (Miraculous Bus) in 1981. The early role established a formula for her regular assignments as a child singer and resulted in recording her debut album Keby som bola princezná Arabela (1983) on OPUS Records. By her late teens, Rolins appeared in a number of exclusively TV films of varying quality, as well as managed to deliver a series of teen pop-orientated albums, such as Darinka (1986),Čo o mne vieš (1988) and Témeř ružový příběh (1990); all released by Supraphon. Along with Karel Gott, she experienced a one-off success in the German-speaking region in 1986, peaking with their duet "Fang das Licht" ("Catch the Light") at number seven on the Austrian Singles Chart, respectively at number fifteen in the fellow Germany.
Dara Bubamara (Serbian: Дара Бубамара) (born May 21, 1976 in Novi Sad, Serbia, Yugoslavia) is the stage name of a popular Serbian pop-folk singer. Born as Radojka "Rada" Adžić, she grew up in Satelit, a neighborhood of Novi Sad, Serbia. Her parents moved to Novi Sad from Derventa, Bosnia and Herzegovina before Rada was born. Lee Jun-ki (born April 17, 1982, in Busan, South Korea) is a South Korean actor, model and singer, who Koreans regard as a quintessential kkonminam idol. He rose to fame as Gong-gil in The King and the Clown. In August 2009, Lee Jun Ki was appointed an ambassador for Korea tourism by the Korea Tourism Organization.
In his adolescent years, Lee was a fairly normal individual who enjoyed sports and computers. He first became interested in the performing arts as a high school student after watching a performance of Hamlet. Lee initially did not get into college and instead moved to Seoul with almost nothing in his pocket, but a dream to work in the entertainment industry. For the next couple of years, Lee worked at various part-time jobs, before gaining acceptance into the Seoul Institute of the Arts.
In 2005, his first major acting role came in The King and the Clown (왕의 남자), in which he took on the role of a somewhat feminine clown in the late 15th century. Lee faced the challenge as a male actor of playing out Gongil's femininity, which attracts the attention of many other men in the film. The film became one of the highest grossing South Korean-made movies in South Korea, unexpectedly replacing Taegukgi as the most-watched film in Korean history with over 12.3 million viewers. Lee's salary for the role was a comparatively low US$100,000.[dead link]
Lim Soo-jung (Hangul: 임수정; Hanja: 林秀晶; born on 11 July 1979) is a South Korean film and television actress.
Lim made her debut in 1998 as a cover model for teen magazines. She then moved onto television and film, but it was Kim Ji-woon's 2003 stylish horror A Tale of Two Sisters that first drew her critical notice and newcomer awards. A year later, the hit KBS2 drama I'm Sorry, I Love You catapulted her into stardom. With Lim looking much younger than her age, those projects solidified her image as an eternal ingenue, as did touching character study ...ing, horse jockey film Lump Sugar and Park Chan-wook's surrealist I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK.
In recent years she began shedding that image by taking on more adult roles, notable among them Hur Jin-ho's romantic melodrama Happiness,Choi Dong-hun's blockbuster fantasy Jeon Woo Chi, and Lee Yoon-ki's minimalist breakup indie Come Rain, Come Shine. She also starred in the romantic comedies Finding Mr. Destiny and All About My Wife.
She and Lee Jung-jae played two artists in a post-apocalyptic environment in the short film El Fin del Mundo ("The End of the World"), which screened at the prestigious contemporary art exhibition dOCUMENTA.
