Sharpham is a village and civil parish on the Somerset Levels near Street and Glastonbury in the Mendip district of Somerset, England. It is located near the River Brue.
The parish council has responsibility for local issues, including setting an annual precept (local rate) to cover the council’s operating costs and producing annual accounts for public scrutiny. The parish council evaluates local planning applications and works with the local police, district council officers, and neighbourhood watch groups on matters of crime, security, and traffic. The parish council's role also includes initiating projects for the maintenance and repair of parish facilities, as well as consulting with the district council on the maintenance, repair, and improvement of highways, drainage, footpaths, public transport, and street cleaning. Conservation matters (including trees and listed buildings) and environmental issues are also the responsibility of the council.
Excerpts from when The Sharpham Trust featured on Countryfile, 17 July 2016. Sharpham's resident forager Brigit-Anna McNeill used meadow plants to create a salve for presenter John Craven's sore elbow, whilst Trust Director Julian Carnell talked about Sharpham Meadow Natural Burial Ground to Naomi Wilkinson. Yuli Somme, who makes felt shrouds for use at the burial ground, and Jennifer Bronwen, of the Green Funeral Company, were also featured. Like this? In the summer of 2017, a significant restoration project took place at Sharpham House. With assistance from conservation charity The Pilgrim Trust, the damaged and leaking lantern skylight was removed, carefully rebuilt and put back on top of the Grade 1-listed Palladian Georgian villa. Future builders from South Devon College have tried out their new skills by creating a brand new toilet and shower block for the mindfulness and nature charity The Sharpham Trust. Carpentry and construction students from South Devon College worked to real goals and deadlines to build the timber-framed block in spring this year. The new building has been clad in larch and cedar wood - grown and milled on the Sharpham Estate. Now the loos and showers are being used by people staying on retreat in Sharpham’s woodland and the Trust is delighted with the results. Like this? This rap was recorded by one of the woodland retreat leaders from participants on a young person's woodland mindfulness retreat in the campsite at Sharpham in July 2017. The participants were young adults aged 18-25 from Hackney, London. Many had never seen starlight before because of urban street lighting. A couple of them came up with this freestyle rap about the effects of Sharpham on them. Like this? Places to see in ( Glastonbury - UK ) Glastonbury is a town and civil parish in Somerset, England, situated at a dry point on the low-lying Somerset Levels, 23 miles south of Bristol. The town of Glastonbury is in the Mendip district. Glastonbury is less than 1 mile (2 km) across the River Brue from Street, which is now larger than Glastonbury. Evidence from timber trackways such as the Sweet Track show that the town has been inhabited since Neolithic times. Glastonbury Lake Village was an Iron Age village, close to the old course of the River Brue and Sharpham Park approximately 2 miles (3 km) west of Glastonbury, that dates back to the Bronze Age. Centwine was the first Saxon patron of Glastonbury Abbey, which dominated the town for the next 700 years. One of the most important abbey...

13hh (LHC), 16 year old, Bay, Gelding, £2950 ono (including all tack and extensive wardrobe).. Nutmeg was a top class WHP, competing at HOYS, Royal Windsor and County shows. He has competed in all Pony Club teams: SJ, ODE, Dressage and Prix Caprilli. He's been let down over winter, therefore not currently in show condition. He loves jumping and is a forward going ride with a bold jump. He would suit an ambitious/competitive rider; whether showjumping, dressage or showing. Although forward going in the showjumping ring, he is a nice steady hack and will go ahead or behind. He is excellent to travel, load, catch, hack, clip, shoe, bath etc. Comes with all tack and an extensive wardrobe. Vaccinations and worming up to date. Lots of photos can be sent.
