Charles Berling is a French actor, director, scenario writer and producer born on April 30, 1958 in Saint-Mandé in Val de Marne (France).
Son of a marine physician, he is also the nephew of the literary critic Raymond Picard. His mother, Nadia, "only daughter of (French) settlers in Morocco" was born in Meknes (Morocco); she died in 2004.
When he was two years old he left Paris for Brest, then Toulon, then, at seven, Tahiti.
He studied acting at the Belgian high school INSAS, in Brussels. He is the father of the actor Émile Berling.
Patrick Bruel (born Maurice Benguigui on May 14, 1959 in Tlemcen, then French Algeria) is a French singer, actor, and professional poker player of Algerian Jewish descent.
Patrick is the son of Pierre Benguigui and Augusta Kammoun, daughter of Elie and Céline ben Sidoun. His family became French in 1870 when the Crémieux Decree granted full French citizenship to the indigenous Jews of French Algeria.
Although Bruel aspired to be a football (soccer) star as a youth, he decided to pursue singing after seeing Michel Sardou in 1975. His first success came as an actor, however, in 1979's Le Coup de sirocco. He continued acting in films, on television and in the theater while pursuing his singing career. His first single, "Vide" ("Empty"), released in 1982, was not a success, but the follow-up, "Marre de cette nana-là" ("Fed up with that chick"), was a hit.
In 2003, he had his last name officially changed to Bruel-Benguigui, his stage name with his birthname, before his partner, the writer and playwright, Amanda Sthers gave birth to his first child, Oscar, on August 19. On September 21, 2004, he wed the 24-year-old Sthers; it is his first marriage. His second child, Léon was born on the 28th September, 2005. The couple separated in 2007.
Patrice Chéreau (pronounced: [pa.tʁis ʃe.ʁo]; born 2 November 1944) is a French opera and theatre director, filmmaker, actor, and producer.
Patrice Chéreau was born in Lézigné, Maine-et-Loire, and went to school in Paris. At a young age he became well-known to Parisian critics as director, actor, and stage manager of his high-school theatre (lycée Louis-le-Grand). At 15, he was enthusiastically celebrated as a theatre prodigy. In 1964, at the age of 19, he began directing for the professional theatre. In 1966 he created a very busy Public-Theatre at the Parisian suburb of Sartrouville. In 1969, he staged his first opera. The following year he established a close relationship with the leadership of the Piccolo Teatro in Milan, Paolo Grassi and Giorgio Strehler. In 1975 he worked in Germany for the first time directing Edward Bond's Lear. He often collaborated with Claude Stratz. He began his relationship with his lover and favorite actor Pascal Greggory in 1987.
Chereau's most discussed production was his 1976 centennial staging of Richard Wagner's tetralogy Der Ring des Nibelungen at the Bayreuth Festival, conducted by Pierre Boulez. Polarizing fans and critics, Chereau chose to set the operas during the 19th-century Industrial Revolution, and was thought to have emphasized the dramatic rather than the musical elements of the works.
Patrick Fiori (born Patrick Jean-François Chouchayan on 23 September 1969 in Marseille, France) is a French singer.
Fiori was born to an Armenian father (Jacques Chouchayan) and a Corsican mother (Marie Antoinette Fiori) in Marseille, France. When he was only 12 years old, he was offered his first role in the musical La légende des santonniers. At the age of 17, he recorded his first single, entitled "Stéphanie". In 1993, Fiori came fourth place in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Mama Corsica". The following year, his first album was released, entitled Puisque c'est l'heure. His successful audition for the musical Notre Dame de Paris enabled him to originate the role of Phoebus both onstage and in the recording studio. With Daniel Lavoie and Garou, he recorded the successful song "Belle". The following year, Patrick signed a contract with Sony and recorded his 3rd album Prends Moi (Take me). Patrick finally decided to end his role in Notre Dame de Paris in the year 2000 in order to dedicate more time to his fourth album, Chrysalide. Two years after, his fifth album was released and in 2008 the album Les choses de la vie was released, followed by the most recent album "L'instinct masculin". His 2007 single "4 Mots sur un piano" was number one in the French charts for 2 weeks.
