Willy Brandt (born Herbert Ernst Karl Frahm; German pronunciation: [ˈvɪli ˈbʁant]; 18 December 1913 – 8 October 1992) was a German politician, Mayor of West Berlin 1957–1966, Chancellor of West Germany 1969–1974, and leader of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) 1964–1987.
Brandt's most important legacy was Ostpolitik, a policy aimed at improving relations with East Germany, Poland, and the Soviet Union. This policy caused considerable controversy in West Germany, but won Brandt the Nobel Peace Prize in 1971.
In 1974, Brandt resigned as Chancellor after Günter Guillaume, one of his closest aides, was exposed as an agent of the Stasi, the East German secret service.
Willy Brandt was born Herbert Ernst Karl Frahm in the Free City of Lübeck (German Empire) to Martha Frahm, an unwed mother who worked as a cashier for a department store. His father was an accountant from Hamburg named John Möller, whom Brandt never met. As his mother worked six days a week, he was mainly brought up by his mother's stepfather Ludwig Frahm and his second wife Dora.
Walter Ulbricht (30 June 1893 – 1 August 1973) was a German communist politician. As First Secretary of the Socialist Unity Party from 1950 to 1971 (and then Honorary "Chairman" until his death), he played a leading role in the creation of the Weimar-era Communist Party of Germany (KPD) and later (spending the years of Nazi rule in exile in the Soviet Union) in the early development and establishment of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). From President Wilhelm Pieck's death in 1960 he was the East German head of state until his own death in 1973.
Ulbricht was born in Leipzig, Saxony, where his father worked as a tailor. He spent eight years in primary school (Volksschule). After leaving school, he trained to be a joiner. Both his parents worked actively for the Social Democratic Party (SPD). Walter Ulbricht joined the party in 1912.
Ulbricht served in World War I from 1915 to 1917 in Galicia on the Eastern Front, and in the Balkans. He deserted in 1917, as he had opposed the war from the beginning. Imprisoned in Charleroi, in 1918 he was released during the German Revolution of 1918–1919. In 1917 he became a member of the Independent Social Democratic Party (USPD) after it split off from the Social Democratic Party (SPD) over support of Germany's participation in World War I. During the German Revolution he became a member of the soldier's soviet of his army corps and later a member of the KPD in 1920, joining its Central Committee in 1923. Ulbricht attended the International Lenin School of the Comintern in Moscow in 1924/1925. The electors subsequently voted him into the regional parliament of Saxony (Sächsischer Landtag) in 1926. He became a Member of the Reichstag for South Westphalia from 1928 to 1933 and served as KPD chairman in Berlin from 1929.
[Verse 1:]
I want you to know that when I leave
It'll be the last you'll ever see of me
I tried so damn hard to fix you
To make you believe in what I see
If you wanna be broken, be broken
I won't dare try to mend you again
I've tried my best to get through
But there's no getting in
[Chorus:]
When I go, I'll pack my bags
Won't leave a note
No second chance
No, that's all we wrote
[Verse 2:]
I tell myself that this time
Something's gonna change
That you'll look into my eyes
And your heart will fall in place
Well you need space
Darling, you're such a headache
I'm not sure
How much I can take
[Chorus:]
When I go, I'll pack my bags
Won't leave a note
No second chance
No, that's all we wrote
When I go, I won't be back
Don't ask me for
A second chance
No, that's all I wrote
[Bridge:]
Drop everything baby
The bottle is calling
Whoa, you're sinking
Fall down, pass out
No you can't feel a thing
And if you start to honey
Just keep drinking
[Chorus:]
When I go, I'll pack my bags
Won't leave a note
No second chance
No, that's all we wrote
When I go, I won't be back
Don't ask me for
A second chance
No, that's all I wrote
[Bridge:]
Drop everything baby
The bottle is calling
Whoa, you're sinking (sinking)
Fall down, pass out
No you can't feel a thing
And if you start to honey
[Verse 1:]
Yeah I hate you but I swear I'll be fine
Started so good 'til you fell out of line
Not sure where we went wrong
But there's no need to hold on
It's only a matter of time
Until you're humming along
'Til the regret sinks in
As you're singing all my songs
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
[Chorus:]
Used to be your girlfriend
I used to love you so
But now we're over (we're over, we're over)
And this is me letting go
[Verse 2:]
You're the rain on my parade
The clouds on a sunny day
You're just a thorn in my side
You left me with such a bad taste
Go get your claim to fame
You're never going to change
So damn hot but you can't keep it up
It's such a shame you're such a shame
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
[Chorus:]
I used to be your girlfriend
I used to love you so
But now we're over (we're over, we're over)
And this is me letting go
Yeah you used to be my boyfriend
But now you're just a joke
In case you missed the memo
I hope you, I hope you choke
[Bridge:]
(You're nothing to me)
You did the right thing
In pushing me away
No matter how I tried
You never would've stayed
I gave you everything
Threw it in my face
Threw it away
You're nothing to me
You're nothing to me
[Chorus:]
Used to be your girlfriend
I used to love you so
But now we're over
And this is me letting go
You used to be my boyfriend
But know you're just a joke
In case you missed the memo
I hope you, I hope you choke
I used to be your girlfriend
I used to love you so
But now we're over
And this is me letting go
You used to be my boyfriend
But know you're just a joke
In case you missed the memo
[Chorus:]
If you hate me
I must be doing something right
All your jealousy
Doesn't keep me up at night
It must get harder to breathe
You're so full of envy
Green ain't your color, baby
[Verse 1:]
My name's on everyone's lips
And I think I'm starting to like it
I may not be rich and famous
But I'm damn sure young and fabulous
You can tear me down and be my enemy
It makes no difference
I'm not going away
But I'll keep on singing
[Pre-chorus:]
I'm the talk of the town
I got it all figured out
[Chorus:]
If you hate me
I must be doing something right
All your jealousy
Doesn't keep me up at night
It must get harder to breathe
When you're so full of envy
Green ain't your color, baby
[Verse 2:]
Well you can keep talking
I won't be listening
Give it a rest hun
Your words mean nothing
Well you can't drag me down with negativity
Keep your opinions
I'm not going away
I'll keep on singing
[Pre-chorus:]
I'm the talk of the town
I got it all figured out
[Chorus:]
If you hate me
I must be doing something right
All your jealousy
Doesn't keep me up at night
It must get harder to breathe
When you're so full of envy
Green ain't your color, baby
[Bridge:]
I'm the talk of the town
Got it all figured out
[Chorus:]
If you hate me
I must be doing something right
All your jealousy
Doesn't keep me up at night
It must get harder to breathe
When you're so full of envy
[Verse 1]
I fall in love with distance,
I chase it with persistence,
And ain't nobody gonna tell me
I can't win this
I used to sleep alone
And the you came along,
(You came along)
Thought you'd stick around,
But now you're gone,
(But now you're gone)
[Chorus]
I'm not ready to move on
Baby you're the one
Without you I feel so undone
But I am ready to be free
Of all the things that weigh me down
And knock me off my feet
This is my apology, my apology
[Verse 2]
I took you for granted,
You don't believe in second chances
There's a line in-between
That we shouldn't be crossing
Used to be on my side
Now all we do is fight
(All we do is fight)
I wanna tell you how much I miss you
But I can't let go of my pride
[Chorus]
I'm not ready to move on
Baby you're the one
Without you I feel so undone
I am ready to be free
Of all the things that weigh me down
And knock me off my feet
This is my apology, my apology
[Bridge]
And if you decided to come back tonight
I'd be waiting with, with open arms
And though it's not right
I just want to try one more time
One more time to change your mind
Change your mind
I'm not ready to move on...
[Chorus]
I'm not ready to move on
Baby you're the one
Without you I feel so undone
I am ready to be free
Of all the things that weigh me down
And knock me off my feet
I feel it in my bones
Boiling within
I feel it in my veins
And I am weakened
Let me say this loud and clear
I'm not going anywhere
No, I will stand here
'Til we find a resolution
I'm under your sheets
You're under my skin
Tell me how we're even
Or how this even began
It's just one look
It's just one night
It's just one touch
It feels so right
I feel it in my bones
Boiling within
I feel it in my veins
And I am weakened
I feel it in my bones
Boiling within
I feel you in my veins
My favourite sin
I'm in love with the way that you move
So step inside and kick off your shoes
Baby, here there are no rules
Out of control, we're out of our minds
But don't expect too much of my time
I'll take flight with the morning light, light
It's just one look
It's just one night
It's just one touch
It feels so right
Baby I can't stop myself when I'm by your side, your side
It's just one look
It's just one night
It's just one touch
It feels so right
I feel it in my bones
Boiling within
I feel you in my veins
And I am weakened
I feel it in my bones
Boiling within
I feel you in my veins
My favourite sin
Tonight I'm dragging it out into the open
And I will stand my ground 'til the last word's been spoken
Show me your desire like it's going out of style
Baby, make it worth my while
I feel it in my bones
Boiling within
I feel you in my veins
And I am weakened
I feel it in my bones
Boiling within
I feel you in my veins
My favourite sin
I feel it in my bones
Boiling within
I feel you in my veins
And I am weakened
I feel you in my bones
Boiling within
I feel you in my veins
