Plot
When a father unwittingly marries his daughter off to an infamous renegade named Buckskin Jack, the musical comedy begins. No one would ever suspect that Jonathan Stratford, a gentleman who mingles easily with the power elite, is also a wanted rebel. Buckskin Jack, aka Jonathan Stratford, is the hero to the down trodden and exploited, which are numerous in colonial Virginia, the year 1710. But he is not the only one with a complicated past and present, the woman he is about to marry has a secret of her own. Rock. Tango. Beach Music. Reggae, Disco. Country. There is something for everyone (even cross dressers!) in this story that celebrates America and its power of diversity.
Plot

Dance is a type of art that generally refers to movement of the body, usually rhythmic and to music, performed in many different cultures and used as a form of expression, social interaction or presented in a spiritual or performance setting.
Dance may also be regarded as a form of nonverbal communication between humans, and is also performed by other animals (bee dance, patterns of behaviour such as a mating dance). Gymnastics, figure skating and synchronized swimming are sports that incorporate dance, while martial arts kata are often compared to dances. Motion in ordinarily inanimate objects may also be described as dances (the leaves danced in the wind).
Definitions of what constitutes dance are dependent on social, cultural, aesthetic, artistic and moral constraints and range from functional movement (such as folk dance) to virtuoso techniques such as ballet. Dance can be participatory, social or performed for an audience. It can also be ceremonial, competitive or erotic. Dance movements may be without significance in themselves, such as in ballet or European folk dance, or have a gestural vocabulary/symbolic system as in many Asian dances. Dance can embody or express ideas, emotions or tell a story.

Dolly [speaking]:
Put your hand on her waist and stand
With her right in your left hand
And one and one two three, ah! one two three,
Oh, no, this one...and one two three
one two three
Cornelius [speaking]:
Look I'm dancing!
Well, I was.
Dolly [speaking]:
Of course you were, Mr. Hackl!
[singing]
Take the someone whose arms you're in
Hold onto her tight and spin
And one two three, one two three, one two three
Cornelius:
Look, I'm dancing!
Dolly:
Come here.
Turn around and turn around, try floating through the air
Can't you be a little more aesthetic?
Cornelius:
Don't you think my dancing has a polish and a flair?
Dolly:
The word I think I'd use is athletic!
Cornelius:
Well my heart is about to burst
My head is about to pop
And now that I'm dancing who cares if I ever stop!
Dolly:
That's wonderful, Mr. Hackl!
Cornelius:
...Look, everybody! I, Cornelius Hackl...Sport
...I'm dancing!
Dolly:
You're next, Mr. Tucker!
Glide and step and then step and glide
Barnaby:
And everyone stand aside!
Dolly:
Oh, not yet Mr. Tucker! One, two, three...
One, two, three, ah!
Cornelius
Look, he's dancing!
Dolly
I think he's phenomenal!
You could learn to polka if you worked a week or so
Or the tango filled with passion seething
Barnaby:
I might join the chorus of the castle garden show
Dolly:
Whatever you do, Mr. Tucker, kee-keep breathing
All three:
For my heart is about to burst
My head is about to pop
And now that we're dancing who cares if we ever stop!
All:
Make the music weave a spell
Whirl away your worry
Things look almost twice as well
When you're slightly blurry
As around and around you go
Your spirits will hit the top
And now that we're dancing
Who cares if we ever stop
One-two-three
One-two-three
One-two
And now that we're dancing
I dance a little closer to you and watch you dance away
Hard selling what we both know tomorrow you may
Not be able to give away
And as I leave the stage
Dancing through my rage
I feel helpless as the music goes on, and we turn to another page
Dancing--everybody's dancing
Moving through the ballet
Never missing a cue
How sad, but how beautiful it can be
To watch the choreography
As we play out our fantasy
Red hair flashing under amber-colored lights
You pirouette too smoothly as you move around your ladies
And your fear of lonely nights
As you leap across the air
You're so perfectly aware
Of your audience in rapt attention
As you hang suspended there
You do have a tender side
I can feel it, though you've always tried to hide
It from me
'Cause you know that I'm one woman who's strong enough to see you
As you've always been afraid to be
[Instrumental]
Oh darling, it's gonna be late when we get back home
Can you wait till we get back home?
We don't go walking and reeling
And rocking 'round the whole round town
Walking and talking 'round the whole round town
Don't go rolling and rocking 'round the whole round town
Let another man take you home
Let another man take you home
Oh darling, I wanted to leave but I had to stay
Boys wouldn't let me run away
Been walking and reeling
And rocking 'round the whole round town
Been walking and talking 'round the whole round town
Been rolling and a-rocking 'round the whole round town
Let the morning bring me home
Let the morning bring me home
Well, this is alright, go out all night
Well, this is alright, you go out all night
I tell you there's been no romancing
There's been no fancypantsing
I've been dancing, dancing, dancing, dancing, dancing
Oh darling, I want you to try to understand
If you're leading the life of a music man
You've got to walk around and reel around
And rock around the whole round town
Walk around, talk around the whole round town
Go rolling and rocking out the whole round town
Till the morning takes you home
Till the morning takes you home
Oh darling, it's gonna be late when we get back home
Can you wait till we get back home?
We don't go walking and reeling
And rocking 'round the whole round town
Walking and talking 'round the whole round town
Don't go rolling and rocking 'round the whole round town
Don't let another man take you home
Don't let another man take you home
Well, this is alright, go out all night
Well, this is alright, go out all night
I tell you there's been no romancing
There's been no fancypantsing
There's been life-enhancing, take-a-chancing
You are my life, you are my love
You're the heart that beats within me
You're the one I'll never leave
You're what makes my life worth living
And if the worst should come
And we must move to a different drum
We'll take it anyway
'Cause no matter what they say
We'll be dancing with the wind
Dancing with the rain
Dancin' to the beat of my heart
Dancin' to the melody
Ringin' in my head
Nothing's gonna keep us apart
You are the sun, you are the moon
You are my imagination
We're gonna win, we just can't lose
Not with all this inspiration
They can try and take our stuff
But they can't touch this special love
We're together come what may
And no matter what they say
I understand everything
I understand everything
Take me in your arms, you knew how I feel
Before I knew, I was up to my neck
First time we danced
So I'll tell you what brought you home tonight
So, you're back, what brought you home?
Oh, the dancin'
Take me in your arms, you knew how I feel
Running home, I couldn't wait to be inside you then
You were all around me then
So, is that what brought you home tonight?
Do you know what brought you home tonight?
Was it the dancin'?
Before I knew, I was up to my neck
The last toe leaving ground
Smoke that cigarette and down another drink
Call your other In Crowd friends instead of calling me
And it's who's got what and what can I take
Take what you got just try to make a fast break
It's who's got what and what can I take
Well I'll take what you got just try to make a fast break
Just sit down and go dancing
Smoke that cigarette and down another drink on me
Well you've got better things to be done
Than to be seen with me
Well it's who's got what and what can I take
Take what you got just try to make a fast break
It's who's got what and what can I take
Well I'll take what you got just try to make a fast break
dancing on hot tiles
dancing on tender-hooks
dancing down church aisles
dancing on holy books
dancing on hallowed ground
dancing nyjinsky style
dancing with the lost and found
dancing on rock'n'roll graves
dancing on burning coals
dancing on 'jesus saves'
dancing with old scratch soul
dancing on flick knives
dancing a stiletto groove
dancing our nine lives away
dancing in the louvre
dancing in catacombs
dancing in tuxedo drag
dancing in dark rooms
dancing on all your flags
dancing in the vatican
dancing on the papal gown
dancing on the taxman
dancing on the crown
we're dancing to the dark side of this tune
Dancing, oh dancing
On border lines of time
Dancing, oh dancing
On the border lines of time
How the problems forget me
Time is gonna take my mind
and carry it far away where I can fly
The depth of life will dim my temptation to live for you
If I were to be alone silence would rock my tears
'cause it's all about love and I know better
How life is a waving feather
So I put my arms around you around you
And I know that I'll be leaving soon
My eyes are on you they're on you
And you see that I can't stop shaking
No, I won't step back but I'll look down to hide from your eyes
'cause what I feel is so sweet and I'm scared that even my own breath
Oh could burst it if it were a bubble
And I'd better dream if I have to struggle
So I put my arms around you around you
And I hope that I will do no wrong
My eyes are on you they're on you
And I hope that you won't hurt me
I'm dancing in the room as if I was in the woods with you
No need for anything but music
Music's the reason why I know time still exists
Time still exists
Time still exists
Time still exists
So I put my arms around you around you
And I hope that I will do no wrong
My eyes are on you they're on you
And I hope that you won't hurt me
So I put my arms around you around you
And I hope that I will do no wrong
My eyes are on you they're on you
And I hope that you won't hurt me
(Jack Hues / Nick De Spig)
Dancing in the street love
Dancing in your hair
They'll never know
That you dance until you go
And then you're down
Dancing in your heart love
Dancing in the sea
They'll never say
That you danced your life away
And now you're down
Dancing, Oh
C'è stato un attimo che tu
mi sei sembrato niente,
stato quando la tua mano mia
ha lasciato solo e inesistente,
hai volteggiato e sei tornata qui,
l'orchestra andata avanti
e, poi, nessuno ha visto vieni
E abbiamo ripreso a masticare
questa vecchia rumba,
ci siamo sorrisi e salutati
e siamo rimasti in pista,
e c'e sembrata sempre grande
questa nostra danza mezza dolce e mezza armara
e siamo rimasti in gara
Dancing
I ballerini che lo fanno
un pò per professione,
un pò per vera vocazione
han passo di ossessione
e sanno bene che lazzardo
lieve come il leopardo
e san che tutte le figure
han mille stumature
Se nel mio passo hai avvertito
uninquietudine e un grande inchino,
ero vicino a una città lontana
tutta di madreperla, argento,
vento, ferro, fuoco
e non trovavo qui nessuno
per parlarne un poco
Dancing
Si sono sempre pi distratto
e anche pi solo e finto
e linquietudine e gli inchini
fan di me un orango
che si muove con la grazia
di chi non convinto
che la rumba sia soltanto
unallegria del tango
It's nineteen thirty-three
But she just wanna go
Dancing, dancing
Dancing, dancing
Dancing, dancing
Dancing, dancing
She walk the street by day
There's people all around
But she don't worry 'bout that
Cause she was gone downtown
She's going dancing, dancing
Making the noise
And dancing, dancing
Girls and the boys
Dancing, dancing
Dancing, dancing
Sweet mother Germany
Come to the cabaret
Don't worry about history, history, history
Dancing, dancing
Girls and the boys
Dancing, dancing
Making the noise
And dancing, dancing
Dancing, dancing
It's nineteen thirty-eight
Sweet mother Germany
It's seems so far away
And she will never be, never be, never be
Dancing, dancing
The girls and the boys
Dancing, dancing
Making the noise
And dancing, dancing
Dancing, dancing, dancing,
Never again, never again,
Never again, never again,
Never never never again
Never never never again
Never never never again
Never never never again
Never never never again

When there's someone you hardly know
But wish you were closer to
Remember that he can be near to you
While you're dancing
Though you've only just said "hello"
He's suddenly someone who
Can make all your daydreams appear to you
While you're dancing
Make the music weave a spell
Whirl away your worry
Things look almost twice as well
When you're slightly blurry
Dolly
As around and around you go
Your spirits will hit the top
Dolly, Cornelius, & Mrs. Molloy

Mrs. Molloy, Barnaby, Dolly and Cornelius
One-two-three
One-two-three
One-two
And now that we're dancing
Who cares if we ever stop
My heart went out to JeffreyIt bled dry in its
returning
Through the years all I've known is the knowing
That this heart is only my own
The sound of it came crashing
But so silent to your musical ears
No, you'll never the know the difference between you
and the rest
Until the safety of all these years
We'd be grey and old
I would knit you sweaters in the cold
And we'd be just like my grandparents
When they go dancing
When they go dancing
When you left that evening sober
The rain poured down on my dry feet
So long to the city lights
And hello to the country's slow breeze
As is part of the landscape
And as the palm of the hand
There are some features which claim so local
To this feeling inside my body
We'd be grey and old
I would knit you sweaters in the cold
And we'd be just like my grandparents
When they go dancing
When they go dancing
Time, time, time will change
All else just stays the same
With your flame and your wooden sticks
I'm a rambler to meet you half way
We'd be grey and old
I would knit you sweaters in the cold
And we'd be just like my grandparents
When they go dancing
When they go dancing
And if I could only see that day you were mine
I would take this chance, this blessing
And be the only thing I know to be
And if I could only see that day you were mine
I would take this chance, this blessing
And be the only thing I know to be
I know to be
We'd be grey and old
I would knit you sweaters in the cold
And we'd be just like my grandparents
When they go dancing
Deep inside
The beating goes louder when I'm
not alone
on the dance floor
Feel alive
I'm feeling the power getting hot
the phones
by the back door
Get up tonight
Make up your life and bring it on
since the light has gone baby
No way to hide
Today you'll find the answer
in your heart
Dancing
we wanna feel the light is flashing
I send the power to myself
Dancing
we gotta dance until the morning
I send my kisses to my friends
Hey come on,
the next seven hours are foryou
and me
in the disco
Play that song and speed up the run
you gotta move and live,
feel the beat now!
Get up tonight
Make up your life and bring it on
since the light has gone baby
No way to hide
Today you'll find the answer
in your heart
