"Niacin" redirects here. For the neo-fusion band, see Niacin (band).
Niacin (also known as vitamin B3, nicotinic acid and vitamin PP) is an organic compound with the formula C6H5NO2 and, depending on the definition used, one of the forty to eighty essential human nutrients.
Niacin is one of five vitamins (when lacking in human diet) associated with a pandemic deficiency disease: niacin deficiency (pellagra), vitamin C deficiency (scurvy), thiamin deficiency (beriberi), vitamin D deficiency (rickets), vitamin A deficiency (night blindness and other symptoms). Niacin has been used for over 50 years to increase levels of HDL in the blood and has been found to modestly decrease the risk of cardiovascular events in a number of controlled human trials.
This colorless, water-soluble solid is a derivative of pyridine, with a carboxyl group (COOH) at the 3-position. Other forms of vitamin B3 include the corresponding amide, nicotinamide ("niacinamide"), where the carboxyl group has been replaced by a carboxamide group (CONH2), as well as more complex amides and a variety of esters. Niacin and Vitamin B3 are the generic terms for both nicotinic acid and nicotinamide, which are often used interchangeably to refer to any member of this family of compounds, since they have similar biochemical activity.
Andrew Marshall Saul (born November 6, 1946) is an American millionaire businessman from Katonah, New York who serves as the Chairman of the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB) and Vice Chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in New York City, United States. Saul has been a General Partner in the investment firm Saul Partners, L.P., since 1986.
As Chairman of the Thrift Investment Board, he is responsible for overseeing the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is the retirement savings account for employees of the Federal Government and soldiers of the armed services. The TSP is known to reap higher returns for their retirement than comparable private-sector workers, and is immune from many of the problems that plague mutual funds. During Saul's tenure, the TSP was grown to over $200 billion in assets by 2007, making it twice as large as when he began in 2003. He also cut operating expenses by over $20 million. The TSP is the largest defined contribution plan in the world with over 3.7 million participants and assets worth over $210 billion. The plan is expected to grow to at least $300 billion by 2010.
William "Billy" Sheehan (born on March 19, 1953, in Buffalo, New York) is an American bassist known for his work with Talas, Steve Vai, David Lee Roth, Mr. Big, and Niacin. Sheehan has won the "Best Rock Bass Player" readers' poll from Guitar Player Magazine five times for his "lead bass" playing style. Sheehan's repertoire includes the use of chording, two-handed tapping, right-hand "three-finger picking" technique and controlled feedback.
Billy Sheehan's first electric bass was a Hagström FB, which was soon sistered[clarification needed] by a Precision bass similar to Tim Bogert's. After acquiring the Precision bass, he removed the frets from the Hagström. Over the years, he heavily modified the Precision bass as well, adding a neck pickup and additional support for the bolt-on neck, which Sheehan considers its greatest weakness. The neck pickup was added for what Sheehan referred to as "super deep low end" modelled after Paul Samwell-Smith of the Yardbirds. The Gibson EB-0 type pickup in the neck and the original split Precision bass pickup each have their own separate output jacks on the bass itself, allowing for control of the tone via the bass. Sheehan also uses two amps to achieve his signature tone (as do Chris Squire of Yes and Doug Pinnick of King's X), one with full distortion and notch filtering to sound more guitar-like for solos, and one super-clean for the low end of the neck pickup. This bass has been retired, but he affectionately refers to it as "The Wife"."Gear article". Billysheehan.com. http://billysheehan.com/gear/instruments_34.html. Retrieved 2011-08-09. Sheehan's signature Yamaha bass is based on this Bass.
Dennis Chambers (born May 9, 1959) is an American drummer who has recorded and performed with John Scofield, George Duke, Brecker Brothers, Santana, Parliament/Funkadelic, John McLaughlin, Niacin, Mike Stern, CAB, Greg Howe, and many others. Despite a lack of formal training, Chambers has become well known among drummers for his technique and speed.[citation needed] Chambers is particularly regarded for his ability to play "in the pocket" but can also stretch very far out of the pocket which is also a hallmark of his technique.[citation needed] Chambers exhibits a powerful style that is technically proficient, yet highly musical and groove-oriented.[citation needed] He can play in a wide variety of musical genres, but is perhaps most notable for his jazz-fusion, funk, and Latin music playing. He is mostly known for his fast hands and triplets on the bass drum. He has helped many young drummers, the most prominent being Tony Royster, Jr.
He has been part of the Maceo Parker live band and is touring with Carlos Santana and makes appearances with his band Niacin.
Glenn Hughes (born 21 August 1951) is an English rock bassist and vocalist, best known for playing bass and performing vocals for funk rock pioneers Trapeze and the Mk. III and IV line-ups of Deep Purple, as well as briefly fronting Black Sabbath in the mid-1980s. In addition to being an active session musician, Hughes also maintains a notable solo career, and currently fronts the supergroup Black Country Communion.
Hughes fronted Finders Keepers in the 1960s as bassist/vocalist, as well as the British funk rock band Trapeze. Hughes was recruited to replace Roger Glover as bassist in Deep Purple in 1973, though he considered himself a vocalist as opposed to a bassist. When David Coverdale was later hired as Deep Purple's lead vocalist, the two would ultimately share lead vocal duties in the band until their breakup in 1976. Battling severe cocaine addiction, Hughes embarked on a solo career following his departure from the group.
In 1982, he joined with ex-Pat Travers guitarist Pat Thrall to form Hughes/Thrall, they released one self-titled album which went virtually unnoticed at the time but is now often cited by many fans/musicians to be their favourite Glenn Hughes album. In the mid-1980s, Hughes recorded several different albums with bands and artists including Phenomena (Phenomena, Phenomena II: Dream Runner), Gary Moore (Run For Cover), and Black Sabbath (Seventh Star, though this was to have been a solo album by Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, and only came out as a Sabbath album due to record label pressure).
I light a fire on this night
I still envision your face smile
It's hard to let it go when
In this crazy circumstance
I just want it all to end
It's hard to just let it go
And I know you see the way
I live my life you know I'll be just
Fine but still I miss you so damn hard
Miss you so damn hard
And days seem shorter than they are
Nights seem colder no wonder
When I feel numb
I've got to let it go
And I fight through the night
In a dream I hear your voice in
My head in my head
There you are still smiling at me
Though I know you're not here
In a distant land
There lived a young boy
And Bluewhiteyellow was his name
He was born with one
One special gift indeed
It was making rainbows
Kind at heart like his father
His friend was summer wind
And he sang every time when
Somebody opened their heart
When he sang
The rainbow began
A million stars were up and shining
When something strange occured that night
It was an evil ghost
Wanted to make him cry until forever
Wanted to rule the world
With darkness in his eyes
And have it all
A million stars were up and shining
The storm had quietened down
No more no more disregard
this time I’ll do it right
You have to just have to
face the pain
Inside your broken mind
And where is the
crossroads where we meet
I see only darkness
I’m trying to find the reason why
You don’t want to try
what I have to say
you didn’t want to see
we were fading
now find the dignity
and have some faith in me faith in me
Secrets will no longer have
A hold of you and me
Don’t you know if you
It won’t just disappear
Don’t you remember
You told me how life can be so beautiful
But nothing is happening
I’m still waiting waiting
Is it a sign
now I'm standing here
all alone
I can see the way you hurt me
times before
but I’ve had enough
had enough of your games
I can make it on my own.
But still I wish
That we could just be like before
But nothing is happening
I’m still waiting waiting
Paroles Naive New Beaters Can't Choose
Tight dilema that just got you
Got your legs on two crutches
Facing decision, good starter for derision
Life or work, is life worth it ?
Why should I deny and force it ?
Because it's absurd
Vacation in suburbs
Grow herbs
My skin's bleeding
Banging coz no sleeping
Shit I'm cheating
Understand and forgive
One gave hand others believe and achieve
Know you care for vacation
Trust it's also my position
Boss says not enough production
Harass to enjoy the sun without fun
I can't choose
It's too hard when you're mind's a big bruise
Dida dida, should be this guy
This guy's a soldier that could save ya
I can't choose
It's too hard to satisfy
Bobby, bobby, kiss up dolly
Dolly got you like a liar
I can't choose
It's too hard when you're mind's a big bruise
Dida dida, should be this guy
This guy's a soldier that could save ya
I can't choose
It's too hard to satisfy
Bobby, bobby, kiss up dolly
Dolly got you like a liar
Baby bought our ticket
In best bargain market
Magic carpet works good
Best deal my friend, my dude
What ?
Got yourself a seat in first class
Promise it was the last
At least fasten your belt and get a beer glass
This is it . . .
Ok let's talk lady
All I do, all I do lately is pay
I've been explaining
I don't have that much money
This is it . . .
I know I drive a limo
Could buy myself a caro condo
My bro's a doctor
Told you with me good exposure
This is it . . .
I can't choose
It's too hard when you're mind's a big bruise
Dida dida, should be this guy
This guy's a soldier that could save ya
I can't choose
It's too hard to satisfy
Bobby, bobby, kiss up dolly
Dolly got you like a liar
I can't choose
It's too hard when you're mind's a big bruise
Dida dida, should be this guy
This guy's a soldier that could save ya
I can't choose
It's too hard to satisfy
Bobby, bobby, kiss up dolly
Dolly got you like a liar
So why don't you be nice,
Always put wine in the wrong glass
my ass, I won't repeat it twice
Dice and frozen ice
Making my life a pain
Baby can't you stop to complain
Too bad I'm not your dad
Although you should me glad and not sad
I know you too good to say
Honey please can we just stay
You're addicted to A day
Mayday 'cause I don't do with this way
Finally got me to be
Perfectly touristy
Thousand dollar big E
This is a souvenir from Los Angeles City
I can't choose
It's too hard when you're mind's a big bruise
Dida dida, should be this guy
This guy's a soldier that could save ya
I can't choose
It's too hard to satisfy
Bobby, bobby, kiss up dolly
Dolly got you like a liar
This is it
silent your step is silent as you come near
you suit me perfectly
and violence you denounce violence so carefully
you can smell the fear
The sickness you own
is getting scarier
so be my blind date
suppress the good in me
license you have the license do what you please
nice is not your word
and you're so utterly vicious and indiscreet
but I like your dirty game
slowly internally you're destroying
everything you touch
brutal bold are your actions
How easily life can turn around
Now he stands without his wings
They've taken something
they should have left alone
Should let it be
It's not right
It's not right
They've taken his pride
He'll fight back
He'll fight back
He'll find the way
He'll never break
There's nothing more
He'll never break
He's searching for
Now he knows
Now he goes
Making his own way his own
He won't give up
There's nothing more
He won't stop
Not like before
Now he knows
Now he goes
Making his own way he will stay
How easily madness makes you blind
He could hardly hide his fear
But he won't give up
He will break the walls
To set him free
It feels right
It feels right
They will never know
he can see
he can be
he can fight
Let's make some noise
Let's make it now
Come on
I've been woken up again
these dreams have no end
still linger here
rage strikes
And here they come again
Intruders of my restless soul
You will not frighten me
Cause I've finally learned to
See in me everything that I was always searching for
And nothing can erase it anymore
'cause I ‘m free today and flying far away
I'm stronger than before
You will never ever find me
Horrible blame I've been woken up
again the dreams still won't end
I'm changing my view cause I
Don't want to live no more in disillusion
This is what I've been waiting for
For quite some time now
All I have to do is to make it true
Going to give my all into
I can see new horizons now
The new horizons
No I have no doubt
I'm moving on
I'm moving on
And it's right here in front of me
You've been told so many reasons
Why you shouldn't make
Your own way
And you've been sitting silently
Behaving properly
But there are many ways to
Say out loud
What you've been missing
In this world of madness
Where we're trying to find
Our way back home
And you know there are ways to make a change
You shouldn't be satisfied
With the static state of mind
You've become
'Cause you will not be told no more
how to live and breathe
It's your life you ignore and
Now's the time
To say what you've been
Missing in this madness
And still you wait
Keeping it inside
well you should scream out
And now you know
How to live and breathe
Taking over me now
There are many different stories to be heard
There are many different people living in this world
But behind my eyes there lives a dream
I see your face at my door
every time I know I need nothing more
I'll follow you
With every step
I will follow you with each breath
that I'll take
See my eyes you're taking me
You're taking over me
Some are pushing themselves hard not knowing why
Some are wandering around and living in a lie
But behind their doubtful mind I see
They're trying to find the key
And I used to be like that not anymore
I have finally reached my turning point
'cause behind your eyes I saw myself
so different from what I knew
saw myself that i could be all to you
Why do I have to have this constant
feeling of being late for something
Why do I have to be willing to
participate if it doesn't concern me
Their pace is fast they can do their best
but they will not deceive me
No imposed opinion
no implicit dominion
I passed the test
Now I run away in my mind
A way I must find
They bomb me with information intentionally
So I can make no evaluation no selection
just blind affection for something
they want me to want
I'm a part of a chain reaction
It makes me mad
these thoughts won't rest in my head
I am misled
I protest against that
Tonight we sit it’s all so quiet
and I don’t know just what went wrong
but still I miss the way you look at me
what’s happening
tonight we don’t turn on the lights
‘cause we both know it’s not OK
though you’re still here
you’re so far away and
now I scream
Why don’t you
Believe me
Just go and
Deceive me
Why won’t you
Just take me
Take me some place else
You know how
Go on and let me pretend
where are those nights
so full of passion
where are all those words we spoke
how could
we become so distant
