Carl may refer to:
Carl Cox (born 29 July 1962, Barbados) is a British techno and house music DJ and producer.
Cox grew up in Oldham, Lancashire, before attending Glastonbury High Boys secondary modern school on Glastonbury Road in Morden.[citation needed] Cox began his career as a hardcore and rave DJ in the mid 1980s. One of the first gigs he played was in legendary promoters John Binton and Terry Onion's Squeeze my buttered Onions! club in Hackney, London Unconfirmed reports suggest he was coerced into swallowing an onion on stage, one of Terry's famous requests he gave to his acts. He was named the "Three Deck Wizard" after playing on three turntables simultaneously at the Second Summer of Love in 1988.[citation needed] He has performed at clubs such as The Eclipse, Edge, Shelly's, Sterns Nightclub, Heaven, Sir Henry's in Cork, Ireland and Angels and The Haçienda, as well as raves for Fantazia, Dreamscape, and Amnesia House. He now spearheads two record labels, Intec Records and 23rd Century Records. He also has his own stage every year at Ultra Music Festival called Carl Cox and Friends.
Carl Frampton (born 21 February 1987 in Belfast, Northern Ireland) is an Irish professional boxer who fights in the super bantamweight division, is managed by Barry McGuigan, and has been continuously linked to a possible domestic clash with unbeaten English rival Scott Quigg.
As an amateur, Frampton fought out of the Midlands Boxing Club in Tigers Bay and won the Irish senior flyweight title in 2005 and added the 2009 Irish featherweight title beating David Oliver Joyce in the final, dropping Joyce in the 2nd and giving him a standing count in the 3rd.
He also claimed a silver medal at the 2007 European Union Amateur Boxing Championships in Dublin losing to France's Khedafi Djelkhir in the final. Carl is one of Ireland's most successful amateur boxers of recent years, winning over 100 hundred of his fights and losing only 8 times.
Frampton turned professional after his victory in the 2009 Irish featherweight finals. He moved to the Holy Family Golden Gloves Gym in North Belfast where he is trained by world renowned and award winning coach Gerry Storey and in June 2009, fought his first professional fight at the Olympia, Liverpool in England and beat Sandor Szinavel with a second round knockout on a card that included Grzegorz Proksa and Ajose Olusegan. In January 2010 he was named Ireland's Prospect of the Year at the Irish National Boxing Awards. In November 2010 he won his first professional title, the Celtic title, with a second round TKO win over Scottish boxer Gavin Reid in the Ulster Hall. He then went on to get a 4th round TKO win over Venezuelan Oscar Chacin, and fought his first defense of his BBBofC Celtic super bantamweight title against Welshman Robbie Turley on June 4 winning by 10 round UD.
Carl Ransom Rogers (January 8, 1902 – February 4, 1987) was an influential American psychologist and among the founders of the humanistic approach to psychology. Rogers is widely considered to be one of the founding fathers of psychotherapy research and was honored for his pioneering research with the Award for Distinguished Scientific Contributions by the American Psychological Association in 1956.
The person-centered approach, his own unique approach to understanding personality and human relationships, found wide application in various domains such as psychotherapy and counseling (client-centered therapy), education (student-centered learning), organizations, and other group settings. For his professional work he was bestowed the Award for Distinguished Professional Contributions to Psychology by the APA in 1972. Towards the end of his life Carl Rogers was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work with national intergroup conflict in South Africa and Northern Ireland. In a study by Haggbloom et al. (2002) using six criteria such as citations and recognition, Rogers was found to be the sixth most eminent psychologist of the 20th century and second, among clinicians, only to Sigmund Freud.
Carl Barron (born 11 June 1964) is an Australian comedian. His style is based on observational humour. He was born in Longreach, Queensland, the son of a sheep shearer, and formerly worked as an apprentice roof tiler. Barron has released three DVDs, entitled Carl Barron LIVE!, Carl Barron: Whatever Comes Next and Carl Barron: Walking Down The Street. In November 2010 a box set entitled "All The Stuff I've Done So Far" was released, which included the three previous titles, plus a documentary and outtakes. In 1993 he was voted 'Comic of the Year' and 'Best Up and Coming Talent' and has since made many TV appearances in commercials and on shows such as Rove and Thank God You're Here. Barron made his first television appearance on the NRL Footy Show on the 17th of April, 1997.
One of his perpetual jokes is that several people have mistaken him for people such as Australian musician Paul Kelly. He once stated "I reckon if Paul Kelly and Gandhi had a baby, I'd be it!". He has regularly sold-out shows at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Barron has been very successful in Australia with the DVD release of Carl Barron LIVE! going four times platinum, making it the most successful Australian comedy DVD in Australian history. He has appeared in Good News Week, Out of the Question, Thank God You're Here and several episodes of Rove.
