Advocate
Emily (@happycamper) is a Dev Advocate at Twitter supports the developer community using the Twitter
API platform and data. She's traveled all over the country learning and teaching all levels of developers who utilize
APIs and data to build awesome tools. Passionate about traveling and the music community, she uses Twitter and
Periscope to stay connected locally, nationally and globally. Emily will be speaking on Visualizing
Realtime:
A 100 foot view of visualizing big social data related to alert systems, festivals and how realtime connection helps the user experience.
Cody Rutty /
Artist
Boise-based artist Cody Rutty creates paintings inspired in part by work he creates with computers. By examining structures found in computational models, he draws inspiration from forms and patterns otherwise not found in everyday life.
Working deep within a variety of programs and appropriating their visual outputs for art has formed an ongoing relationship between analog and digital forms for the artist as he continues to work on expressing modern life's complexities and emotional ties to technology.
Julie Young / Emblematic
Group
Julie Young is a
Producer at Emblematic Group, a virtual reality company based in
Los Angeles. She has worked on several room-scale VR pieces including
Project Syria (
Sundance 2015), Kiya (Sundance 2016),
Across the Line (Sundance 2016), and
Formula-1 (
Singapore Grand Prix 2015). Prior to working at Emblematic Group,
Julie was an
Associate Producer on the
2012 Frontline documentary
Fast Times at
West Philly High. She has also worked at
Goldman Sachs and
The Motley Fool. Julie is a graduate of the
University of Pennsylvania, where she studied economics at
The Wharton School.
Sydney Skybetter / Technologist, Choreographer,
Writer
Sydney Skybetter is a technologist, choreographer, and writer. His dances are regularly performed around the country, most recently at the
John F. Kennedy Center for the
Performing Arts, the
Boston Center for the Arts,
Jacob’s Pillow and the
Joyce Theater. As a Founding
Partner with the Edwards & Skybetter |
Change Agency, he has consulted on issues of change management and technology for
The National Ballet of Canada,
Barnes & Noble,
New York University and
The University of Southern California, among others. He lectures on everything from dance history to cultural futurism, and is a frequent speaker at
Juilliard,
Dance/
USA, and
Opera America. He is a regular contributor to
The Clyde Fitch
Report, and is an
Artist in Residence and
Public Humanities Fellow at
Brown University, where he researches emerging human computer interfaces within immersive reality systems. He is the founder of the
Conference for
Research on Choreographic Interfaces (
CRCI), which convenes ethnographers, anthropologists, speculative designers and performing artists to discuss the choreography of the
Internet of Things. He produces shows at
Joe’s Pub and OBERON with DanceNOW[
NYC], recently received a RISCA Fellowship in
Choreography from the
State of Rhode Island, and was the first to get the word “Frack” in print at
Dance Magazine.
Matthew D
Fritz /
Vanishing Point - Matthew is a music manager from
Los Angeles, CA. Getting his start while in college at the
University of Colorado, he got his foot in the door at the
Fox Theater and began to manage his friends bands. Upon graduating he went on to work at
Red Light Management and with bands like
Leftover Salmon and
Elephant Revival. He then joined
Artifact Concepts and developed the management department of the company and is currently managing
Ben Sollee,
Jeff Crosby,
King Cardinal and Satsang.

How VR is Influencing the Tech
Industry: This diverse group of panelists will be discussing the varied ways in which virtual reality is influencing the tech industry. This includes industry disruption in dance/choreography/movement, journalism, film, science, gaming and music.
