The present (or now) is the time that is associated with the events perceived directly and in the first time, not as a recollection (perceived more than once) or a speculation (predicted, hypothesis, uncertain). It is a period of time between the past and the future, and can vary in meaning from being an instant to a day or longer. In radiocarbon dating, the "present" is defined as AD 1950.
It is sometimes represented as a hyperplane in space-time, typically called "now", although modern physics demonstrates that such a hyperplane can not be defined uniquely for observers in relative motion. The present may also be viewed as a duration (see specious present).
Contemporary history describes the historical timeframe that is immediately relevant to the present time and is a certain perspective of modern history.
The present is contrasted with the past and the future. Modern physics has not yet been able to explain the perceived aspect of 'the present' as 'eliminator of possibilities' that transfers future into past. A complicating factor is that whilst a given observer would describe 'the present' as a spatial structure with a zero-length time lapse, other observers would associate both time and space to this structure and therefore disagree on what constitutes 'the present'.

Cook had previously served as acting CEO of Apple after Jobs began a medical leave in January 2011.
In early 2012, he was awarded compensation of 1 million shares, vesting in 2021, by Apple's Board of Directors. As of April 2012, these shares are valued at US $600 million, making him the world's highest paid CEO.
Cook grew up in Robertsdale, Alabama, near Mobile. His father was a shipyard worker, while his mother was a homemaker. Cook graduated from high school at Robertsdale High School, earned a B.S. degree in industrial engineering from Auburn University in 1982, and his M.B.A. from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business in 1988.
Cook spent six months at Compaq as VP for Corporate Materials before he was hired by Steve Jobs to join Apple in 1998. He initially served as Senior Vice President for Worldwide Operations. Schiller received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Boston College in 1982. He began, but didn't complete, a Ph.D in English.
Schiller has over twenty four years of experience in product marketing and management, including seventeen years at Apple in various capacities. During Steve Jobs's medical leave of absence, he presented numerous keynote presentations himself (with supporting segments by other Apple staff), including Apple's last appearance at IDG's Macworld trade show on January 6, 2009 and the WWDC keynote on June 8, 2009. Both presentations, held in San Francisco, were typically presented by Jobs himself. Among the things announced at these events were the updated MacBook Pro lines, the new iPhone 3GS, new versions of the iLife and iWork suites as well as pricing and DRM changes to the iTunes Music Store.
Jack Vale (September 2, 1973) is an American comedian who has a popular YouTube channel featuring hidden-camera pranks. He lives in Roseville, California, with his wife and five children.
Several of Vale's pranks are what he calls "Pooter" pranks. These involve Vale walking around in public making flatulence sounds, using a handheld device he created, and capturing the reactions of the people nearby on a hidden camcorder, which on one occasion resulted in a physical altercation between Vale and an old man whose wife Vale used the device on nearby, despite Vale explaining that it was a prank and even showing him and device. The subsequent police intervention led to both the man and Vale being banned from that specific supermarket.
Other pranks include "Paranoid", a sketch in which Vale, pretending to be talking on his mobile phone, walks past customers in a shop and describes them to his imaginary conversational partner, and "Nonsense", in which Vale confuses members of the public by approaching them and speaking gibberish. Vale is also known to dress up in a mask as an old man while filming his pranks.

I see you shaped in dotted lines.
You waste your time and all of mine.
I cut you out and then I'll try
to fold you to a paper boat.
Your special present,
the one I'll only stare at.
Sits waiting on my door steps.
You wrapped it up nicely in regrets.
Your wounds they never start to heal.
You blind me with your sunless smile.
The rain and its one-hand clapping sound
