Plot
Neurosurgeon/Rock Star/Superhero Buckaroo has perfected the oscillation overthruster, which allows him to travel through solid matter by using the eighth dimension. The Red Lectroids from Planet 10 are after this device for their own evil ends, and it's up to Buckaroo and his band and crime-fighting team The Hong Kong Cavaliers to stop them.

Beings from Another Dimension have invaded your world.
You can't see them...but they can see you.
Your only hope is Buckaroo Banzai.
Expect the unexpected. He does.
General Catburd: The man's been through solid matter, for crying out loud. Who knows what's happened to his brain? Maybe it's scrambled his molecules. All I'm saying is, Mr. President, let's not panic.
John Bigboote: Let's go back up to my office and talk about this like two reasonable beings.
Lord John Whorfin: May I pass along my congratulations for your great interdimensional breakthrough. I am sure, in the miserable annals of the Earth, you will be duly enshrined.
Rawhide: Dr. Banzai is using a laser to vaporize a pineal tumor without damaging the parthogenital plate. A subcutaneous microphone will allow the patient to transmit verbal instructions to his own brain.::Observer: Like, "raise my left arm"?::Rawhide: Or "throw the harpoon." People are gonna come from all over. This boy's an Eskimo.
Buckaroo Banzai: You can check your anatomy all you want, and even though there may be normal variation, when it comes right down to it, this far inside the head it all looks the same. No, no, no, don't tug on that. You never know what it might be attached to.
Buckaroo Banzai: You remind me of someone I once knew.::Penny Priddy: Was she... very beautiful?::Buckaroo Banzai: She was... Queen of the Netherlands
[intro to a flashback]::Television voice: Nineteen thirty-eight. Can you imagine what it must have been like then... then... then...
Orderly: Who are you today, Doc? Einstein?::Lord John Whorfin: Lord John Worfin. If there's one thing I hate, it's to be mistaken for somebody else.
Buckaroo Banzai: Hey, hey, hey, hey-now. Don't be mean; we don't have to be mean, cuz, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.
Perfect Tommy: Pictures don't lie.::Reno: The hell they don't. I met my first wife that way.
New Jersey (i/nuː ˈdʒɜrzi/) is a state in the Northeastern and Middle Atlantic regions of the United States. It is bordered on the north and east by the U.S. state of New York, on the southeast and south by the Atlantic Ocean, on the west by Pennsylvania, and on the southwest by Delaware. New Jersey is the 4th least extensive, but the 11th most populous and the most densely populated of the 50 United States. New Jersey lies mostly within the sprawling metropolitan areas of New York City and Philadelphia. It is also the third wealthiest by 2009–2010 median household income.
The area was inhabited by Native Americans for more than 2,800 years, with historical tribes such as the Lenape along the coast. In the early 17th century, the Dutch and the Swedes made the first European settlements. The British later seized control of the region, naming it the Province of New Jersey. It was granted as a colony to Sir George Carteret and John Berkeley, 1st Baron Berkeley of Stratton. At this time, it was named after the largest of the British Channel Islands, Jersey, Carteret's birthplace. New Jersey was the site of several decisive battles during the American Revolutionary War.
you're and american girl
red headed eyes blank
living in a freckle on the face of the world
another dying kid that learned too much too soon
you're not as good as your mom
but you're as good as dead
you're as good as dead
new jersey ain't the whole world
which of your shots have sold?
twenty-nine with your child
who doesn't give and eats what's left
of your young soul
another dying spark that burned too fast too soon
you're not as bad as your dad
but you're as good as dead
you're as good as dead
new jersey ain't the whole world
don't you leave me out here too long
will you bring me out there?
you're an american girl
out of line in out of time
a cry for the leading role
your bum childhood stole
a mother tires and stuck
in her love-worn bed
you're not as good as your mom
but you're as good as dead
you're as good as dead
new jersey ain't the whole world
don't you leave me out here too long

Well I need you,
My bed's without you,
Oh no,
This one,
Only excusing on the ice,
Surprise,
Watch out,
I wouldn't trust you with the words,
Let that be a lesson learnt.
The lights are on, and it's time to be me, make on business,
With the promise you kept, that keeps me here.
But don't you know,
We're on the road, gotta get the right insurance,
Play with matches you're gonna get burnt,
Let you know with your dial tone,
But I still wait for your call.
Watch out honey now,
My bed stripped down the wall,
Push me, Back there,
One night of love went from me to him, to her,
I love great big smile, cameras, don't lie,
Not even for you sweetheart.
One day, I'll see you on the big screen,
In a film called 'Who shot the prom queen?'
You'll be an extra on the sidelines,
Just like a co star, sign
But don't you know,
We're on the road, gotta get the right insurance,
Play with matches you're gonna get burnt,
Let you know with your dial tone,
But I still wait for your call.
Still wait for your call,
Still wait for your call,
Still wait for your call,
Still wait for your call.
And say you're fine, last time,
I still wait for your call and say you're fine, the last time,
I still wait for your call.
Your call.
Please speak up, I can't hear you.
Please speak up, I can't hear you.
The Garden State [x4]
It rains there every time...
Except once
Though the heart of
all hardcore is right there at your door
New Jersey
Never fade out
You've always been there
What gives?
I can't escape you
I really must thank you for all of this

Hey hey see how they go
small city strange
the kind that I know
where you learn to play marco polo
learned how to run when you dared to get too close
All my guarantees are under one moon
called New Jersey where my sad song's
not the only one worth holding on and holding on to
So how do you how do you say
I am so sorry when it's far too late
Maybe if you could see who I've become
cause it's not like the other me
I was ankle deep but then I dove down
to the sweet and sour bottom
where your memory is holding on it's holding on to me
Singing waddle-ee-atcha doodle-ee-doo
Small city towns for me and for you too
where I learned to play marco polo
I learned how to run when they dared to get too close
so don't you dare to get too close
All my guarantees are under one moon
called New Jersey where my sad song's
not the only one worth holding on worth holding
I was ankle deep but then I dove down
to the sweet and sour bottom
