Bowdoin College /ˈboʊdɨn/, founded in 1794, is a private liberal arts college located in the coastal Maine town of Brunswick. The college enrolls approximately 1,700 students and has been coeducational since 1971. It offers 33 majors and 4 additional minors, and the student-faculty ratio is 9:1. Famous alumni include Joshua Chamberlain, Henry W. Longfellow, Franklin Pierce and Nathaniel Hawthorne.
Brunswick is located on the shores of Casco Bay and the Androscoggin River, 12 miles north of Freeport, Maine, and 28 miles north of Portland, Maine. In addition to its Brunswick campus, Bowdoin also owns a 118-acre (478,000 m²) coastal studies center on Orrs Island and a 200-acre (809,000 m²) scientific field station on Kent Island in the Bay of Fundy.
Bowdoin College was chartered in 1794 by Governor Samuel Adams of Massachusetts, of which Maine was then a district, and was named for former Massachusetts governor James Bowdoin, whose son James Bowdoin III was an early benefactor. At the time of its founding, it was the easternmost college in the United States. It is thought that the Bowdoin seal, created in 1798 by Joseph Callender, was a sun because it was the first college in the United States to see the sunrise. In 1806, 13 Harvard graduates opted to accept a Bowdoin degree along with their diploma from Harvard.
Tramar Dillard (born December 16, 1979) better known by his stage name Flo Rida (pronounced /floʊ ˈraɪdə/), is an American rapper. He released his debut album, Mail on Sunday, in March 2008. His debut single "Low", featuring T-Pain, was a No. 1 hit for ten weeks in United States in early 2008. Two other singles resulted from Mail on Sunday: "Elevator" and "In the Ayer". In 2009, his second album R.O.O.T.S. was released; its most successful single "Right Round" was at the top of the Hot 100 for six weeks. Since then, he has released his third studio album titled Only One Flo (Part 1), which will see a sequel titled Wild Ones.
