Yao Ming (born September 12, 1980) is a retired Chinese professional basketball player who last played for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). At the time of his final season, he was the tallest active player in the NBA, at 2.29 m (7 ft 6 in).
Yao, who was born in Shanghai, started playing for the Shanghai Sharks as a teenager, and played on their senior team for five years in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), winning a championship in his final year. After negotiating with the CBA and the Sharks to secure his release, Yao was selected by the Houston Rockets as the first overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft. Yao was selected to start for the Western Conference in the NBA All-Star Game eight times, and was named to the All-NBA Team five times. He reached the NBA Playoffs four times, and the Rockets won a first-round series in the 2009 postseason, their first playoff series victory since 1997. However, Yao missed 250 regular-season games due to foot and ankle injuries in his final six seasons.
Kobe Bean Bryant (born August 23, 1978) is an American professional basketball player who plays shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Bryant enjoyed a successful high school basketball career at Lower Merion High School, where he was recognized as the top high school basketball player in the country. He decided to declare his eligibility for the NBA Draft upon graduation, and was selected with the 13th overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets, then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. As a rookie, Bryant earned himself a reputation as a high-flyer and a fan favorite by winning the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest.
Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal led the Lakers to three consecutive NBA championships from 2000 to 2002. A heated feud between the duo and a loss in the 2004 NBA Finals was followed by O'Neal's trade from the Lakers after the 2003–04 season. Following O'Neal's departure Bryant became the cornerstone of the Los Angeles Lakers franchise. He led the NBA in scoring during the 2005–06 and 2006–07 seasons, setting numerous scoring records in the process. In 2006, Bryant scored a career-high 81 points against the Toronto Raptors, the second most points scored in a single game in NBA history, second only to Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game in 1962. He was awarded the regular season's Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) in 2008. After losing in the 2008 NBA Finals, Bryant led the Lakers to two consecutive championships in 2009 and 2010, earning the NBA Finals MVP Award on both occasions.
The Year of the Yao is a 2004 documentary film telling the first year of basketball player Yao Ming in the United States. The film is narrated by his friend and former interpreter Colin Pine, who stayed with Yao during Yao's rookie year, and interpreted for him for three years.
Jeremy Shu-How Lin (born August 23, 1988) is an American professional basketball player with the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). After receiving no athletic scholarship offers out of high school and being undrafted out of college, the 2010 Harvard University graduate reached a partially guaranteed contract deal later that year with his hometown Golden State Warriors.
Lin seldom played in his rookie season and was assigned to the NBA Development League (D-League) three times. He was waived by the Warriors and the Houston Rockets the following preseason before joining the Knicks early in the 2011–12 season. He was again assigned to the D-League and continued to play sparingly. In February 2012, he unexpectedly led a winning streak by New York while being promoted to the starting lineup, which generated a global following known as Linsanity. Lin is one of the few Asian Americans in NBA history, and the first American of Chinese or Taiwanese descent to play in the league. He is known for his public expression of the Christian faith.
Dirk Werner Nowitzki (German pronunciation: [ˈdɪʁk ˈvɛʁnɐ noˈvɪtski]) (born June 19, 1978) is a German professional basketball player who plays for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). An alumnus of Röntgen Gymnasium and DJK Würzburg basketball club, Nowitzki was drafted ninth overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1998 NBA Draft, and was immediately traded to the Mavericks, where he has played ever since. Standing 7 ft 0 in (2.13 m), Nowitzki plays the power forward position but also has the athleticism and shooting ability to play the other frontcourt positions, center and small forward.
Nowitzki has led the Mavericks to 12 consecutive NBA Playoffs (2000–01–2011–12), including an NBA Finals appearance in 2006 and the franchise's first championship in 2011, making him one of only 5 players in NBA history to win a championship while being the only NBA All-Star on the team. He is an 11-time All-Star and 12-time member of the All-NBA Teams, and the first European-born player in NBA history to receive the NBA Most Valuable Player Award. He is the first Maverick ever to be voted into an All-NBA Team and also holds several all-time Mavericks franchise records. Only Nowitzki and three other players have ever averaged more than 25 points and 10 rebounds in the NBA playoffs, and only Nowitzki and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar have managed 4 consecutive 30-point, 15-rebound games in the playoffs. Additionally, Nowitzki is the only player in NBA history to get 100 blocks and 150 3-pointers in a single season.
So you want to make a meal?
A Breakfast so unreal?
With imagination
Take that apron out
We'll start off nice and slow
(Hey!) Pancakes oughta be simple
Just mix your flour, baking powder
Add salt, and sugar
Sift twice into a bowl
In another beat together eggs and butter
Add milk and you're on your way to
Bacon Pancakes
Makin' Bacon Pancakes!
Take some bacon and
I'll put it in a pancake
Bacon Pancakes
That's what its gonna make
Bacon Pancakes!
And each day that passes
Without pancakes
Takes away all the joy
That we could have made
With some bacon covered by a pancake
Bacon Pancake
Quit singing the chorus
It's infectious as Syphilis
We need to focus
Get your head back in the game
Mix the wet and dry
And stop when it is smooth
Now let it sit for 10 minutes
That's enough to go
Watch Adventure Time!
But don't relax quite yet
Lest ye forget the magic
So kill and skin a pig for
Bacon Pancakes
Makin' Bacon Pancakes!
Take some bacon and
I'll put it in a pancake
Bacon Pancakes
That's what its gonna make
Bacon Pancakes!
Please don't actually try
To cook to this song
'Cause we're not liable
If you burn your mom's house down
But then again
Bacon Pancakes are worth the risk
Bacon Pancakes!
Now it's time for you
To take it to the very next level
By making bacon by bakin bacon
Praying to the bacon gods
The be takin' the time to-
Line a sheet with foil
Place those bacon slices on top
Heat that oven up
And let that pig fat cook
"Oh my glob Melissa,
Like get your lumpy butt
Over here right now!"
They're putting bacon
In the pancakes could it be?
The greatest parts of breakfast
Joined in harmony!
Bacon Pancakes
Makin' Bacon Pancakes!
Take some bacon and
I'll put it in a pancake
Bacon Pancakes
That's what its gonna make
Bacon Pancakes!
Bacon Pancakes
Makin' Bacon Pancakes!
Take some bacon and
I'll put it in a pancake
Bacon Pancakes
That's what its gonna make
Bacon Pancakes!
(Pancake)
Filled with bacon!
(Pancake)
It's just perfection
(Pancake)
All day, everyday
(Pancake)
