The spectacular mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli is joined by the ensemble Il Giardino Armonico in a program of baroque music from composer Antonio Vivaldi, "The Red Priest". The concert encompasses arias and instrumental pieces from the oratorio Juditha Triumphans and the operas L'Olimpiade, Tito Manlio, Ottone in Villa, La fida ninfa, Bajazet (Il Tamerlano) and a chilling, passionate performance from Farnace. The ensemble performs Concerto in C major for Flautino (affectionately known as the Penny Whistle), and Concerto in D major for Lute. The predominant portion of music was unknown and specially transcribed from Vivaldi's original manuscripts by musicologist Claudio Osele. The International Film Crew from RM Associates is directed by veteran opera director Brian Large and produced by classical music producer Colin Wilson. The sell-out musical event was presented at the superb art-deco Théatre des Champs-Eysées, Paris in September 2000.

The violin is a string instrument, usually with four strings tuned in perfect fifths. It is the smallest, highest-pitched member of the violin family of string instruments, which also includes the viola, cello, and double bass.
The violin is sometimes informally called a fiddle, regardless of the type of music played on it. The word violin comes from the Medieval Latin word vitula, meaning stringed instrument; this word is also believed to be the source of the Germanic "fiddle". The violin, while it has ancient origins, acquired most of its modern characteristics in 16th-century Italy, with some further modifications occurring in the 18th and 19th centuries. Violinists and collectors particularly prize the instruments made by the Gasparo da Salò, Giovanni Paolo Maggini, Stradivari, Guarneri and Amati families from the 16th to the 18th century in Brescia and Cremona and by Jacob Stainer in Austria. Great numbers of instruments have come from the hands of "lesser" makers, as well as still greater numbers of mass-produced commercial "trade violins" coming from cottage industries in places such as Saxony, Bohemia, and Mirecourt. Many of these trade instruments were formerly sold by Sears, Roebuck and Co. and other mass merchandisers.
Lindsey Stirling (born on September 21, 1986) is an American violinist, musician, dancer, performance artist, and composer. In 2010 she competed on the fifth season of America's Got Talent. Stirling is noted for her versatility performing music from country to hip hop.
At the age of 23 Stirling was a quarter-finalist on the fifth season of America's Got Talent where she was known as the ‘Hip Hop Violinist’. After Stirling's performance, Sharon Osbourne said, "Wow... we love you Lindsey!” and Piers Morgan called her performance "Electrifying!".
At the age of 5, after being influenced by the classic music records played by her father, Stirling requested the opportunity to learn and play the violin.
Stirling was classically trained through private lessons for 12 years. When she was 16, she joined a rock band with four friends called Stomp on Melvin. As part of her experience with Stomp on Melvin, Stirling wrote a solo violin rock song, and her performance helped her to win both the title of Arizona’s Jr. Miss in 2005 and the talent category of the National Jr. Miss Pageant. As of May 2, 2012, Stirling is 5'3" tall.
Ivry Gitlis (Hebrew: עברי גיטליס; born Haifa, August 25, 1922) is an Israeli violinist and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. He has performed with the world's top orchestras (New York Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, and Israel Philharmonic), and many of his recordings are considered classics.
Born in Haifa, Palestine Mandate, to Jewish immigrants from Russia, Gitlis studied violin at an early age. When violinist Bronisław Huberman first heard him play, he sent him to study at the Conservatoire de Paris, where Gitlis won a first prize, aged 13. His teachers include Carl Flesch, George Enescu, and Jacques Thibaud. In 1951, Gitlis made his debut in Paris.
His first recording, Concerto à la mémoire d'un ange by Alban Berg, won the Grand Prix du Disque in France.
In 1968 he participated in John Lennon's Dirty Mac project on The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus program.
In 1971 Bruno Maderna wrote Piece for Ivry for him.
In 1990 Gitlis was designated UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. His stated aim is the "support of education and culture of peace and tolerance".
Johann Sebastian Bach (31 March [O.S. 21 March] 1685 – 28 July 1750) was a German composer, organist, harpsichordist, violist, and violinist of the Baroque Period. He enriched many established German styles through his skill in counterpoint, harmonic and motivic organisation, and the adaptation of rhythms, forms, and textures from abroad, particularly from Italy and France. Bach wrote much music, which was revered for its intellectual depth, technical command, and artistic beauty. Many of his works are still known today, such as the Brandenburg Concertos, the Mass in B minor, the Well-Tempered Clavier, and his cantatas, chorales, partitas, passions, and organ works.
Bach was born in Eisenach, Saxe-Eisenach into a very musical family; his father, Johann Ambrosius Bach was the director of the town's musicians, and all of his uncles were professional musicians. His father taught him to play violin and harpsichord, and his brother, Johann Christoph Bach taught him the clavichord, and exposed him to much contemporary music. Bach also sang, and he went to the St Michael's School in Lüneburg, because of his skill in voice. After graduating, he held several musical posts across Germany; he served as Kapellmeister (director of music) to Leopold, Prince of Anhalt-Köthen, Cantor of Thomasschule in Leipzig, and Royal Court Composer to August III. Bach's health and vision declined in 1749, and he died on 28 July 1750. Modern historians believe that his death was caused by a combination of stroke and pneumonia.
Sebastian Bach (born April 3, 1968) is a Canadian heavy metal singer who achieved mainstream success as frontman of Skid Row from 1987 to 1996. Since his departure from Skid Row, he has had many television roles, acted in Broadway plays, and led a successful solo career.
Bach was born Sebastian Philip Bierk on April 3, 1968, in Freeport, Bahamas, and raised in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. He attended nearby Lakefield College School in the same class as Michael Kulas, of the British rock group James, a year behind Felipe, Prince of Asturias and a year ahead of the comedian/actor Will Arnett. He is of Norwegian, French Canadian, and Native American descent. Bach's father was the visual artist David Bierk. He is the brother of retired NHL goaltender Zac Bierk, model/actress Heather Dylan Bierk, and Toronto-based artists Jeff, Nick, Alex, and Charles Bierk.
Skid Row initially formed in the late eighties with lead singer Matt Fallon. They began playing at various New Jersey clubs. Fallon would soon leave the band in 1987, leaving Skid Row without a singer. Bach, who had just left his previous band Madam X, was spotted singing at rock photographer Mark Weiss's wedding and the members asked him to join. He turned them down, but changed his mind after hearing the demo tapes of "Youth Gone Wild" and "18 and Life". He sent them a demo of him singing "Saved By Love." They loved it and flew him to New Jersey where they began playing gigs. Sebastian also recorded demos with Bon Jovi & Sabo's friend Jack Ponti. (The song "She's on Top" later came out on Jack Ponti Presents Vol. 1)

Four strings across the bridge
Ready to carry me over,
Over the quavers, drunk in the bars,
Out of the realm of the orchestra,
Out of the realm of the orchestra,
Filling me up with the shivers,
Filling me up wtiith the shivers and quivers,
Filling me up with the shivers.
Chorus
Get the Bow going, let it scream to me,
Violin, violin, violin.
Paganini, up the chimney,
Lord of the Dance with Nero and old Nicky,
Whack the Devil
Into my fiddlestick,
Give me the Banshees for B.V.'s,
Give me the Banshees for B.V.'s,
Jigging along with the fiddle, ooh Johnny,
Jigging along with the fiddle dee-dee,
Jigging along with the fiddle-dee-diddle-dee-dee.

Lately I
I've been heading for a breakdown
Every time I leave my house
Well, it feels just like a shake down
Between street sweepers and the pushers are the lawyers
Who may as well be butchered
Between the small timing hustlers who all
Seem to feed upon each other
Oh, God, why you been
Hanging out in that ol' violin
While I've been waiting for you
To pull me through?
Lately I
Every time I try to lie down
While my mind just lets away
I can't even close my eyes now
Between the big fish and ambition and the lovers
Using words as ammunition
Between the wood planks, I've been pacing endless
Impossible dream that I've been chasing
Oh, God, why you been
Hanging out in that ol' violin
While I've been waiting for you
To pull me through?
Oh, God
Oh, God
Oh, God, why you been
Hanging out in that ol' violin
While I've been waiting for you
To pull me through?
Oh, God
Oh, God
All of this time
I still can't believe
I carried you on my shoulder
As we grew older
The symphany we had together reached the farthest
Love captured perfect moments till you became a solo artist
Now I won't to hear you cry
Cause I know how you play my heartstrings
Over and over again
I'm done with all the lies
I'm done with all the pain
I'm done with all the time wasting up on you
And I can't take it no more take it no more
I'm done with the screamin
I'm done with all those silly love songs that keep on playin
Can you hear the violin?
So many times
I tried to speak my mind
But you just shut me out too many times for me to count
No I'm not just gonna let you play me like a fool
Too many broken strings
Now there's no more me in you
Now I won't hurt to hear you crying
Cause I know how you play my heartstrings
Over and over again
I'm done with all the lies
I'm done with all the pain
I'm done with all the time wasting up on you
And I can't take it no more take it no more
I'm done with the screamin
I'm done with all those silly love songs that keep on playin
Can you hear the violin?
Go ahead and play me your sad song
(Can you hear the violin?)
Go ahead and play me your sad song
(Can you hear the violin?)
Go ahead and play me your sad song
(Can you hear the violin?)
Go ahead and play me your sad song
(Can you hear the violin?)
Everything you said and everything you do
Hand me out you're on the run
Trying to make it back to you
But now I'm done with crawling back
No you won't get me back
So go ahead play me your sad song
(Can you hear the violin?)
(Can you hear the violin?)
(Can you hear the violin?)
(Can you hear the violin?)
