Advance International Ministries was started by Gerry and Rose George in 2000. The vision came out of visits to the area of Uganda, and a vision from God to provide both physically and spiritually for the help of the local people. Our ministry is mainly to widows, orphans and the needy - in fact many people are needy at this present time. Since 2000 we have been able to build a medical centre, a church, and three schools - secondary, primary and nursery. They are separate to honour the Ugandan authorities, who asked the different age groups to be taught separately. There are dormitories and an orphanage, with cooking and eating facilities. We are thankful for the Grace of God on the work, to enable us as ordinary people to be able to achieve so much and to be channels of God's Blessing for the people. Our main concern for the Schools has been to have water freely available and also power to provide lighting etc. In 2013 we finally achieved that goal. The finding of water was a major breakthrough and no mean feat as we had to dig through the hill down to 58 metres through a lot of rock. For electricity we had to set up 9 electricity poles over roughly a quarter of a mile on neighbouring plots (with the neighbours permission of course).But now they will be able to access electricity for themselves via our poles,something which would have been impossible for them before we came. All This has created a big interest in the area and many people are buying up the land around or renting plots to build on. in the future we plan to pipe the water from the borehole into all the buildings and to put in outside standpipes and have the water pumped by electricity. http://www.advanceinternational.org.uk/
