Raven is the common name given to several larger-bodied members of the genus Corvus—but in Europe and North America the Common Raven is normally implied. They have black plumage and large beaks.

Smaller-bodied species in the genus Corvus include the crows, jackdaws, and the rook.

In some cases the diet of the raven is similar. Most ravens eat some sort of fruit, such as dates, or berries. Most are omnivorous. The ravens look similar to another common bird, the crow, being related.

Janet Ecker (born October 18, 1953) is a politician in Ontario, Canada. She was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1995 to 2003, and was a senior cabinet minister in the governments of Mike Harris and Ernie Eves.

Ecker grew up in Exeter, Ontario. Her father was a family physician. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Western Ontario. In 1985, Ecker served as Director of Communications at the Ontario Treasury. She worked as a Government Relations Consultant with Public Affairs Management from 1987 to 1991, and was Director of Policy for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario from 1991 to 1995.

Ecker was also involved with the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario during these years. A Red Tory, she supported Larry Grossman at both of the party's 1985 leadership conventions, and served as Assistant Executive Director of the Ontario PC Party from 1985 to 1987.

She was first elected to the Ontario legislature in the provincial election of 1995, defeating Liberal Joe Dickson and incumbent New Democrat Jim Wiseman by a significant margin in the riding of Durham West, east of Toronto. She was not initially appointed to cabinet by Mike Harris, but was named Minister of Community and Social Services on August 16, 1996.

Ronald Nickolas Rowe (b. November 30, 1923 in Toronto, Ontario - d. July 28, 2005) was a professional ice hockey player who played five games in the National Hockey League. He played with the New York Rangers.

David Charles Arthur Sparrow (born 4 March 1962) is a Canadian actor born in England and living in Toronto.

He has appeared in over eighty film and television roles, including the films Serendipity (2001), The Hurricane, Shall we Dance (2004) and 16 Blocks and the television series Monk, Star Trek: Voyager, Corner Gas, Little Mosque on the Prairie, CSI and She's the Mayor. On stage, Sparrow has performed in productions from coast to coast with icons of the Canadian theatre, including Walter Learning and Ted Follows. In 2001 he wrote, performed in and co-directed the sold-out, comedy hit The Honeymurders at Sacred Fools Theater Company in Los Angeles, California.

As a writer Sparrow has completed three short films, a feature, two TV pilots, hours of sketch comedy, a children's book, a play, short stories and dozens of radio and TV ads. In 2007 he and writer Yuval Daniel co-wrote and co-produced at feature film starring Sparrow in the uncharacteristically serious role of a serial killer. The film, Teddy Bear, aired on Super Channel and was received well by festivals.
