gaza-under-fireAs a Palestinian human rights organisation dedicated to the promotion and protection of human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), Al-Haq is extremely concerned by the growing number of civilian deaths and property destruction arising out of the most recent round of hostilities in the occupied Gaza Strip. Between 6 July and 9 July 2014, Al-Haq has documented the killing of 22 Palestinian civilians, including 7 children. In addition, at least 170 Palestinians have been injured. Statements by Israeli officials indicate an intent to expand their military operation in the Gaza Strip, code named ‘Operation Protective Edge’, which will likely result in more death and destruction.
