'Extreme radicals among those who seized power in Ukraine' - Russia's UN envoy (FULL SPEECH)
11:13
An individual or group of individuals recently made national news by purportedly hacking into the iCloud accounts of various female celebrities, illegally obtaining and then disseminating previously private nude photographs.

A list of the alleged victims - 101 in total - has been posted online; however photos have yet to surface for the majority of those whose accounts have allegedly been compromised.

Early reports point to a flaw in the \'Find My iPhone\' function of Apple\'s iCloud service that may have provided the security hole used the access the photos. Apple is still yet to confirm or deny whether its software was the target of the hacking.

The individual or group responsible has been soliciting bitcoin donations for the leak of the photos, posting censored teaser images online to spur further donations prior to the release of the next collection of images.

Edward Snowden\'s NSA revelations highlighted a disturbing pattern in the electronic landscape - personal privacy has been constantly eroded and it\'s not only government agencies which are collecting massive amounts of information.

Privacy-related issues continue to be a huge topic of concern for tech-savvy individuals, because in our desire to connect with others through various digital platforms, we release increasingly more personal information online.

Where we live, what we read, what we buy, whom we call, what music we listen to, what movies we watch, who we first kissed, our mothers\' maiden names, and much more - all this information now exists somewhere in the digital cloud.

Mismanagement of customer information and privacy policy concerns have been at the root of endless criticism and backlash directed at various companies including both Facebook and Google.

A June 2013 Gallup poll revealed that only 37 percent of Americans approved of the U.S. government\'s surveillance programs despite the protecting-your-freedom narrative spun by the media. While Americans were divided on their opinion of Snowden, people outside the U.S. largely viewed him as a hero.

Since the leak of these photos, I have seen those responsible referred to as heros to my own shock and horror. While it certainly isn’t everybody, the praise for releasing these images and the excitement of seeing these celebrities nude has undoubtedly trumped any kind of empathy or compassion for this horrendous breach of personal privacy.

While our fascination with celebrities is understandable, it\'s important to remember that they\'re human beings who seek and deserve privacy. When you become a public figure certain expectations of privacy naturally lessen, which is all the more reason to respect what little privacy such celebrities have left.

Whether the information was collected by the NSA or by some hacker exploiting a security vulnerability, reveling in the release of private emails, documents or photos is abhorrent, disgusting and sad.

The Kremlin\'s media czar on Russian state TV host has threatened the United States with a nuclear strike in his news broadcast which was aired at the same time as polls closed in the Crimean referendum about secession from Ukraine. The remarks by Dmitry Kiselyov on Russia\'s main state broadcaster came as the United States said it would not recognise the referendum result and threatened further sanctions. Kiselyov is known for elaborate, acid diatribes against the West. His weekly news programme is watched for clues to Kremlin policy and signs of how the government wants Russians to perceive events. Kiselyov is widely regarded as a loyalist of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who in February appointed him to take over Russia Today news agency, a media organisation intended to polish Russia\'s image.

The president said he would be meeting today with the National Security Council.
“The options that I’m asking for from the Joint Chiefs focuses primarily on making sure that ISIL is not overrunning Iraq,” Obama said during a news conference in the White House briefing room, using another acronym for the militant Islamic group ISIS.

Jennifer Lawrence: Nude Celebrity Photos Hacked!
Jennifer Lawrence: Nude Celebrity Photos Hacked!
  • Order:
  • Duration: 3:08
  • Updated: 02 Sep 2014
An individual or group of individuals recently made national news by purportedly hacking into the iCloud accounts of various female celebrities, illegally obtaining and then disseminating previously private nude photographs. A list of the alleged victims - 101 in total - has been posted online; however photos have yet to surface for the majority of those whose accounts have allegedly been compromised. Early reports point to a flaw in the 'Find My iPhone' function of Apple's iCloud service that may have provided the security hole used the access the photos. Apple is still yet to confirm or deny whether its software was the target of the hacking. The individual or group responsible has been soliciting bitcoin donations for the leak of the photos, posting censored teaser images online to spur further donations prior to the release of the next collection of images. Edward Snowden's NSA revelations highlighted a disturbing pattern in the electronic landscape - personal privacy has been constantly eroded and it's not only government agencies which are collecting massive amounts of information. Privacy-related issues continue to be a huge topic of concern for tech-savvy individuals, because in our desire to connect with others through various digital platforms, we release increasingly more personal information online. Where we live, what we read, what we buy, whom we call, what music we listen to, what movies we watch, who we first kissed, our mothers' maiden names, and much more - all this information now exists somewhere in the digital cloud. Mismanagement of customer information and privacy policy concerns have been at the root of endless criticism and backlash directed at various companies including both Facebook and Google. A June 2013 Gallup poll revealed that only 37 percent of Americans approved of the U.S. government's surveillance programs despite the protecting-your-freedom narrative spun by the media. While our fascination with celebrities is understandable, it's important to remember that they're human beings who seek and deserve privacy. The Kremlin's media czar on Russian state TV host has threatened the United States with a nuclear strike in his news broadcast which was aired at the same time as polls closed in the Crimean referendum about secession from Ukraine. The remarks by Dmitry Kiselyov on Russia's main state broadcaster came as the United States said it would not recognise the referendum result and threatened further sanctions. Kiselyov is known for elaborate, acid diatribes against the West. His weekly news programme is watched for clues to Kremlin policy and signs of how the government wants Russians to perceive events. Kiselyov is widely regarded as a loyalist of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who in February appointed him to take over Russia Today news agency, a media organisation intended to polish Russia's image.

Ebola Outbreak Still Accelerating In West Africa (UPDATE)

"The Ebola outbreak in West Africa is accelerating and could grow six times larger to infect as many as 20,000 people, the World Health Organization said Thursday. The U.N. health agency unveiled a new road map for containing the virus, and scientists are fast-tracking efforts to find a treatment or vaccine. Ebola has menaced Africa for 40 years, but previously struck in remote villages and was contained fairly quickly. This time, it has spread to major cities in four countries, provoking unrest as whole neighborhoods and towns have been sealed to the outside. An experimental vaccine developed by the U.S. government and GlaxoSmithKline will be tested on humans starting next week, the U.S. National Institutes of Health announced Thursday. The NIH trial will use healthy adult volunteers in Maryland, and British experts will simultaneously test the same vaccine in healthy people in the U.K., Gambia and Mali." 8/28/2014 President Obama delivers Statement over ISIS Crisis in Iraq, Syria and Russia in Ukraine, answers questions from reporters (FULL SECTION) President Obama Says 'We Don't Have a Strategy Yet' to Fight ISIS. (ABC) President Obama admitted today that his administration does not have a strategy to combat the militant Islamic group ISIS that has grabbed large chunks of Iraq and Syria. When the president was asked if he would seek Congressional approval for U.S. attacks on ISIS targets in Syria, he responded, "I don't want to put the cart before the horse. We don’t have a strategy yet ... Some of the news reports suggests that folks are getting a little further ahead of where we’re at than we currently are.” Obama said he is dispatching Secretary of State John Kerry to the area to work with allies, and ordered Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel to prepare “a range of options” as he considers future military action. “As commander in chief, I will always do what is necessary to protect the American people,” he said. “Our military action in Iraq has to be part of a broader comprehensive strategy to protect our people and to support our partners who are taking the fight to ISIL." The president promised to continue to consult with Congress in the days and weeks ahead. “I do think it will be important for Congress to weigh in … so the American people are part of the debate,” he said. “I will consult with Congress and made sure their voices are heard.” Earlier this week, the president approved military surveillance flights over Syria, but air strikes in that country have not been authorized. U.S. military planes have carried out over 100 airstrikes in Iraq. Following his remarks, Obama will meet with his National Security Council in the Situation Room, with Vice President Joe Biden and Kerry. Since video emerged Aug. 19 showing the beheading of American journalist James Foley, Obama has fought back against fresh criticism of his foreign policy, promising to be “relentless” in his fight against the emerging threat posed by ISIS. President Obama is wearing a #tansuit this afternoon. "#ISIS poses an immediate threat to the people of Iraq and the region". We must gain regional partners to fight #ISIS in Syria and Iraq. Obama says has asked Defense Secretary Hagel to prepare range of options on confronting Islamic State "Russia is already more isolated than at any time since the end of the Cold War. Ongoing incursion "will only bring more costs." Obama says has asked Secretary of State John Kerry to travel to Middle East to help build coalition against IS US President #Obama says "Russia is responsible for the violence in eastern #Ukraine Obama: It's not a choice between ISIS or Assad."I don't see how Assad can bring peace or stability to an area that is majority Sunni."
