Fishing is the activity of trying to catch fish. Fish are normally caught in the wild. Techniques for catching fish include hand gathering, spearing, netting, angling and trapping.
The term fishing may be applied to catching other aquatic animals such as molluscs, cephalopods, crustaceans, and echinoderms. The term is not normally applied to catching farmed fish, or to aquatic mammals, such as whales, where the term whaling is more appropriate.
According to FAO statistics, the total number of commercial fishermen and fish farmers is estimated to be 38 million. Fisheries and aquaculture provide direct and indirect employment to over 500 million people. In 2005, the worldwide per capita consumption of fish captured from wild fisheries was 14.4 kilograms, with an additional 7.4 kilograms harvested from fish farms. In addition to providing food, modern fishing is also a recreational pastime.
Fishing is an ancient practice that dates back to at least the beginning of the Paleolithic period about 40,000 years ago. Isotopic analysis of the skeletal remains of Tianyuan man, a 40,000 year old modern human from eastern Asia, has shown that he regularly consumed freshwater fish.Archaeology features such as shell middens, discarded fish bones and cave paintings show that sea foods were important for survival and consumed in significant quantities. During this period, most people lived a hunter-gatherer lifestyle and were, of necessity, constantly on the move. However, where there are early examples of permanent settlements (though not necessarily permanently occupied) such as those at Lepenski Vir, they are almost always associated with fishing as a major source of food.
Inspirtation,
Oh, she barely waits a moment
Elevator doors open
Hear her footsteps touch the stairs
Words walk by
Describing definition
Stop and talk about it
Narcissus
Is just too easy to see
We're always looking
When we see fishes
When we go fishin'
Thoughts meander
Risin' all around us
Rise and fall and rise again
Oh, we stop and talk about it
Strong beliefs
Like ideas come to life
Turn atoms into rain and stone
Sands and tall trees
Worlds passed by
Defyin' description
Stop and talk about it
Talk about it
And Maia, she dances
She dissolves into the light
Illusions of light
Oh Maia, she dances
Deep romance and poetry
Songs and movies
Virtue for la de da
She dances in the light
Dance in the light
Maia, she dances
Closed mouth catches no flies
Burning bridges as you're crossing is not very wise
When analysed
Be tongue-tied
Play snakes and ladders
But not suicide
Like casting pearl before swine
Talking to you is a waste of time
You burned the bridges you've been crossing
Go crawl back into your dustbin
Crawl back in your own dustbin
From you expect this lack of respect
To be sly
Not one of a kind
Pretty picture
Bad frame of mind
Like casting pearl before swine
Talking to you is a waste of time
You burned the bridges you've been crossing
Go crawl back into your dustbin
Go crawl back into your dustbin
Go crawl back into your dustbin
Go crawl back into your dustbin
Go crawl
I've learned caution
This comes from wisdom
These altitudes
These dizzying heights
These bottomless pits
These sweet delights
Like me
You are unlike me
Like me
You are unlike me
Go crawl
Back in
Your dustbin
Talking to you is a waste of time
You burned the bridges you've been crossing
Under surveillance
Sweet subservience
I think you're stupid
But you're worth the mention
People who need people
Are the stupidest of people
Go crawl back into your dustbin
Go crawl back into your dustbin
Go crawl back into your dustbin
Closed mouth catches no flies

don't make that face
it makes me?
that's ok
i guess the circle would be complete then
chorus
it's not your point i'm missing
you're just fishing
so find yourself a?
find yourself a hole (pole?)
i'll be here
waiting for your hands?
well that's ok
that's how i wanted to go now
Please have a seat. I'm sorry I'm late
I know how long you've had to wait
I did not forget your documents
No time to waste, why not begin?
Here's how it works, I've got these faces
You give them names and I won't deport you
Make sure you face my tape recorder
Make no mistake, this fountain pen
Could put you on a plane by ten
And by the way, your next of kin
I know which house she's hiding in
So now that you know whose skin you're saving
In this photograph, who's this one waving?
I think you know, so speak up, amigo
It says here that by trade you were a fisherman
Well I'll bet you Indians can really reel them in
And if you get the chance
You should try to get up to Lake Michigan
Well maybe, but then again...
Where were we then? Is he your friend?
Well I recommend that you look again
Where does he stay? What is his name?
There is no shame. He'd do the same
So what do you say? I don't have all day
It's up to you. Which will it be
Good citizen or poor campesino?
My dad used to rent us this place in Ontario
He showed us how to cast the line and tie the flies
He used to say that God rewards us for letting the small ones go
Well maybe, but I don't know
Anyway, it's easy to bite. You just take the bait
You can't fight the hook
Hurts less if you don't try to dive
Senor, as you know I was a fisherman
And how full the nets came in
We hauled them up by hand
But when we fled, I left them just out past the coral reefs
They're waiting there for me
