Roger Lance Mobley (born January 16, 1949 in Evansville, Indiana) was a busy child actor in the 1950s and 1960s, making over 110 television appearances and co-starring in nine feature films in his nine-year career, before becoming a member of the Green Berets (46th Special Forces Co.) during the Vietnam War. He was later an officer with the Police Department in Beaumont, Texas.
When Mobley was eight years old, he appeared as "Packy" Lambert on the NBC television series, Fury, starring Peter Graves, Bobby Diamond, and William Fawcett.
In 1964, Walt Disney signed young Mobley to the title role in the highly acclaimed and Emmy- nominated "Adventures of Gallegher" serials for his Wonderful World of Color. Gallegher is an amateur sleuth newspaper reporter, a character created by the author Richard Harding Davis. Contrary to popular rumor, it is Mobley's name that Walt Disney wrote on his very last memo. (see Walt Disney's last memo YouTube)
After nine years and appearances in 118 television programs or feature films, Mobley's career was interrupted at the age of eighteen by military service. Mobley was quoted as having said, "Uncle Walt [Disney] had plans for me, but so did Uncle Sam, and Uncle Sam won."
Marcia Henderson (July 22, 1929 – November 23, 1987) was a Broadway and film actress. She was a Theatre World Award winner, and appeared in the films All I Desire (1953), The Wayward Girl (1957) and Canyon River (1956).
Born in Andover, Massachusetts, and raised in Williamstown, Massachusetts, Henderson was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Henderson. She graduated from Williamstown High School in 1947 and from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1949. Her high school activities included cheerleading and playing basketball and soccer. She also was editor of the school's newspaper and wrote articles for two professional newspapers in her area.
Henderson played Wendy in the 1950 Broadway musical version of Peter Pan, which starred Jean Arthur as Peter Pan and is a different adaption of the story than the one made famous four years later starring Mary Martin. Her co-star was Boris Karloff in the dual roles of George Darling and Captain Hook. Reviewers at The New York Times and the New York Herald Tribune praised her performance, for which she won a 1949-50 Theatre World Award. The show ran for 321 performances, closing on January 27, 1951.
Bill Williams may refer to:
Roger is an English male given name and surname, from the Anglo-Norman French Roger, Rogier, which is itself derived from Germanic words (hroth, hruod and ger) meaning respectively "fame" and "spear". In Anglo-Saxon sources the name is first recorded, in the Dark Age epic poem Beowulf, as Hroðgar ("glorious spear-bearer").
The name is also found in the Netherlands in the form Rutger, and in German as Rüdiger. The Latin form, as used by a few medieval figures, is Rogerius. A Welsh variation is the family name Rosser.
Roger is also a short version of the term "Jolly Roger", which refers to a black flag with white skull and crossbones, formerly used by sea pirates since as early as 1723.
From c.1650 to c.1870, Roger was slang for the word "penis", probably due to the origin of the name involving fame with a spear. Subsequently, "to roger" became a slang verb form meaning "to have sex with"/"to penetrate".
In 19th century England, Roger was slang for the cloud of toxic green gas that swept through the chlorine bleach factories periodically.
Henry "Hank" Mobley (July 7, 1930 – May 30, 1986) was an American hard bop and soul jazz tenor saxophonist and composer. Mobley was described by Leonard Feather as the "middleweight champion of the tenor saxophone", a metaphor used to describe his tone, that was neither as aggressive as John Coltrane nor as mellow as Stan Getz, and his style that was laid-back, subtle and melodic, especially in contrast with players like Sonny Rollins and Coltrane. The critic Stacia Proefrock claimed he is "one of the most underrated musicians of the bop era."
Mobley was born in Eastman, Georgia, but was raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey, near Newark. When he was 16, an illness kept him in the house for several months. His uncle thought of buying a saxophone to help him occupy his time, and it was then that Mobley began to play. He tried to enter a music school in Newark, but couldn't, since he was not a resident, so he kept studying through books at home. At 19, he started to play with local bands and, months later, worked for the first time with musicians like Dizzy Gillespie and Max Roach. He took part in one of the earliest hard bop sessions, alongside Art Blakey, Horace Silver, Doug Watkins and trumpeter Kenny Dorham. The results of these sessions were released as Horace Silver and the Jazz Messengers. They contrasted with the classical inclinations of cool jazz, with Mobley's rich lyricism being bluesier, alongside the funky approach of Silver. When The Jazz Messengers split in 1956, Mobley continued on with pianist Silver for a short time, although he did work again with Blakey some years later, when the drummer appeared on Mobley's albums in the early 1960s.

I've often heard the story about Kurt Russell's name being the last memo Walt Disney wrote. But this video of Disney archivist Dave Smith in Walt's office shows that there were two other names on that memo - his son-in-law Ron Miller and Roger Mobley.
I'm the leader of a gang in this small scene. (It's okay, though--it's a DISNEY gang!!!) That's Roger Mobley there as Gallegher. I worked with him a couple other times, too--on Fury and on a movie called "St. Mike". On this clip, I love seeing Mr. Disney with the barbershop quartet. I had a chance to meet him when I was little, right in his office at the Disney Studios!!! (It was an interview for a part that I ended up not getting...)
