Thailand economy needs 'stability' as GDP figures due Business
Thailand needs stability to help its economy which has been caught up in the prolonged political crisis. That is the view from David Kuo, chief executive at The Motley Fool Singapore. On Asia Business Report with Sharanjit Leyl, Mr Kuo shared his analysis on the Southeast Asian nation as the Thai government is due to release first-quarter growth numbers. Many are looking to the gross domestic product (GDP) figure as a gauge of how the ongoing crisis is affecting businesses and investors in Thailand.- published: 19 May 2014

Thailand;s military rulers attempt to boost the economy
Thailand's military rulers have announced a series of emergency measures aimed at averting an economic crisis - two weeks after taking power in a coup. The proposals include a price cap on fuel and an offer of loan guarantees for small businesses. They also want to push ahead with big infrastructure projects that were stalled under the ousted government. In addition, the army says it will act on a backlog of investment applications, worth more than $20bn (£12bn).- published: 04 Jun 2014

But now buyers at home and overseas are feeling the squeeze and businesses are becoming more pessimistic about the future. In the first of a three part series on troubled Asian economies, Al Jazeera's Veronica Pedrosa reports from Bangkok.- published: 30 Aug 2013

Thailand's new military rulers have announced they will move fast to tackle the country's economic problems. The political crisis has hurt business confidence and halted much government spending. The economy is on the brink of recession after shrinking 2.1 percent in the early part of the year. Former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra dissolved parliament in December and called an election for February. From that moment, her caretaker government was unable to initiate new policies, even as t... Ongoing impact of political uncertainty on Thailand's economy
Ongoing impact of political uncertainty on Thailand's economy
Political uncertainty in Thailand has taken its toll on the country's economy, but in some ways the financial impact has been less than expected. The Thai baht is trading at around the same level against the US dollar as it did at the beginning of the year, although it has weakened in recent days along with the sharemarket. But head of Thailand research at Phatra Securities, Supavud Saicheua, says he thinks political instability in Thailand could continue for eighteen months.- published: 16 May 2014
