High Speed Indian Railways Compilation: 40 of the Best!
In India, high speed trains have become synonymous with Rajdhanis and Shatabdis, and in the last 3 years, Durontos. This compilation attempts to go beyond these well-established high speed trains and documents furious displays of speeds from the lesser known trains in India. All of the trains featured in this documentary have their Maximum Permissible Speeds limited to 110 kmph (approximately 69 mph). However, they make up for the lack of speed vis-à-vis the Rajdhanis, Shatabdis, and Durontos through their sheer aggression, resulting in some high speed encounters. This video is a compilation of the top 40 speedster encounters experienced by me over the past 4 years, covering 10 out of the 16 zones of Indian Railways. There has been a concerted effort in making this compilation as diverse as possible, in terms of locomotives featured, and region of capture. Thus, WAP4s from various sheds such as Howrah, Santragachhi, Erode, Bhusawal, Lallaguda, Royapuram, Mughal Sarai and Vadodara are featured. This is in addition to actions including WDM3As and WDM3Ds, WAP7s, WAM4s, WDP4s, and one each of WCAM3, WCAM2P, WCAM1, WDG3 and WDM2 locomotives. In chronological order of appearance in the video, the trains, the locomotives featured and location of capture are: 1. Chennai Mail with Santragachhi WAP4, Brahmapur-Palasa, Orissa. 2. Tiruchendur Chennai Egmore Express, Golden Rock WDM2, Chennai Egmore-Villupuram, Tamil Nadu. 3. Hirakud Express, Tatanagar WAM4, Chakradharpur-Rourkela, Orissa. 4. SANDWICHED Train & Loco : INDIAN Railways AIR CONDITION Express.
SANDWICHED Train & Loco : INDIAN Railways AIR CONDITION Express.
This would be a perfect example of a Indian Railway Sandwich, just not the Coaches appear Sandwiched bt also the Locomotive's Livery appears like a Sandwich . WAG-5 Locomotives are primarily used for hauling Freight trains, in this case this uniquely painted WAG-5P with its modified Gear ratio is limited to hauling only the Passenger Services with its Cabs painted similar to that of WAM-4 livery while the mid portion still remains in its original WAG-5 livery. VADODARA / BRC's WAG-5p towing the Trivandrum ( Kochuveli ) bound Air Condition Express with a odd combination of Red Rajdhani Coaches and Green Duronto coaches beautifully snakes out of the mighty Yesvantpur Curve gradually picking up speed. Train : 16561 Yesvantpur - Kochuveli AC Express , South Western Railways. Locomotive : BRC / VADODARA Electric Loco Shed WAG-5p 23287 , Western Railways. Location : Yesvantpur ( Bangalore ), South Western Railways.- published: 26 Jul 2014

TRACK BALLASTING : Indian Railways STYLE
Catch the Exclusive Video of the newly laid Track being Ballasted . These new tracks are yet to undergo trial runs hence a Special Truck carrying the Ballast with customized Wheels to work on the Rail Roads help lay the Ballast. Also catch the exclusive footage from where the Ballast is obtained. The huge boulders are broken down with the help of special machinery from the hills and are carried in small trucks and thrown down to the ground. From there the large stones are further broken down into smaller pieces and are transported by trucks to a near by Rail Road. There on the ballast is transported through a Freight wagon to the desired Railway lines if already a Rail Connectivity Exists else the trucks will bring them to the required spot. There is a special Freight Wagon known as BOBYN , a Open hopper car with side-bottom discharge, for carrying stone, track ballast, etc. These are air-braked and are operational only on tracks that are commissioned by the Rail Safety team. Location : Yelahanka, South Western Railways. Project : Yelahanka - Channasandra Doubling ( Presently Single line Operation)- published: 04 Jul 2014

Great Indian Rivers and Railway Bridges: Compilation from Indian Railways
Great Indian Rivers and Railway Bridges: Compilation from Indian Railways
The Indian peninsula is blessed with a multitude of rivers, around which historic civilizations have manifested themselves in the past three decades, and societies amounting to millions of individuals, spread across a vast diversity of ethnicities have grown. Some of these rivers like the Ganga or Godavari have become religious icons, probably due to the vast areas of land they have helped make arable and support communities around it. This video attempts to document some of these magnificent water bodies, as seen from traveling on the Indian railways, along with some magnificent engineering structures in the Indian railway network in the form of railway bridges. A number of the videos are taken in the monsoon season, when the rivers are brimming with water courtesy the heavy rains which lash India. This compilation covers 10 of the major Indian states across all major geographical regions barring the north-east. Most of the river are major inter-state rivers, traversing over at least a couple of hundred kilometres, though a couple of local rivers such as the Rupnarain in West Bengal, or the Wardha in Maharashtra are also included. The longest river within India, the Ganga is prominently featured, along with the second longest river, Godavari. Some of bridges support some high speeds like the Chambal, Rupnarain, Tapi or Mahanadi, resulting in some very high speed river crossings. There are however some notable exceptions which I have not been able to document such as the Saraighat Bridge over the Brahmaputra, the Farakka Barrage over the Ganga, crossings of the Narmada, Kaveri, Yamuna, Tungabhadra, Gandak, Ghaghara, Kosi and the rivers forming the Indus basin. I hope that a sequel to this video would be successful in presenting these other magnificent rivers. In order of appearance, the rivers presented in the video, and the trains from which they have been captured are: 1. River Godavari, Rajahmundry (Andhra Pradesh): 12663 Howrah Tiruchirapalli Express. At 2.9 km, this is arguably the finest river crossing on Indian Railways, with a fantastic pair of bridges offering some great views. 2. River Hughli, Dakshineshwar (West Bengal): 12260 New Delhi Sealdah Duronto Express. This video is captured at around 100 kmph. 3. River Mandovi, Madgaon (Goa): 12432 Trivandrum Rajdhani Express. 4. River Ganga, Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh): 12382 New Delhi Howrah Poorva Express. This is a night crossing under a full moon. 5. Koel River, Rourkela (Odisha): 18189 Tata Alleppey Express. While this is not exactly a river crossing, the tracks run parallel to the Koel river for around a kilometre and curve along with the river, providing a gorgeous view of the river in the midst of the Saranda forests. The experience is heightened by the chugging and smoking of the twin diesels hauling the Tata Alleppey Express. 6. River Mahanadi, Cuttack (Odisha): 12278 Puri Howrah Duronto Express. Witness the furious acceleration over the 2.1 km Mahanadi River. 7. River Subarnarekha, Muri (Jharkhand): 22824 Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani Express. 8. River Tapi, Surat (Gujarat): 22210 New Delhi Mumbai Duronto Express, captured at around 105 kmph. 9. River Ganga, Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh): 12382 New Delhi Howrah Poorva Express. The famous ghats of Varanasi can be discerned from this video. 10. Rupnarain River, Kolaghat (West Bengal): 12021 Howrah Barbil Jan Shatabdi Express. This video is captured at around 100-105 kmph. 11. River Zuari, Madgaon (Goa): 12432 Trivandrum Rajdhani Express. 12. River Brahmani, Jajpur (Odisha): 22824 Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani Express. 13. River Chambal, Dhaulpur (Uttar Pradesh-Madhya Pradesh border): 12433 Chennai Rajdhani Express. The train simply blasted over the bridge at 130 kmph: undoubtedly the fastest river crossing I have experienced over a major bridge on Indian Railways. 14. River Wardha, Balharshah (Maharashtra): 12433 Chennai Rajdhani Express. 15. River Hughli, Dakshineshwar (West Bengal): 12260 New Delhi Sealdah Duronto Express. One can clearly see the famous Dakshineshwar Kali Temple in this video, where the Bengali mystic Ramakrishna lived for much of his life, and from where he initiated Swami Vivekananda into monastic life. 16. River Krishna, Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh): 12663 Howrah Tiruchirapalli Express.- published: 31 Aug 2013
