Under the 1987 Montreal Protocol, CFCs and other so-called ozone-depleting chemicals are outlawed, but their Hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) replacements -- while harmless to the ozone layer -- are powerful greenhouse agents.
According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change fully one fifth of the greenhouse effect by midcentury will be ascribed to these ozone-friendly but "super greenhouse gases" used in refrigeration and air conditioning.
There are alternatives -- principally hydrocarbons - commercially available now (but also ammonia, carbon dioxide and water), but in some countries, they are considered a fire hazard, and are restricted. Many countries allow their usage provided safety standards are followed.
Meanwhile companies such as Dupont are developing a new generation of refrigerants, such as R-1234yf, that they claim have an minimal impact on climate change and are only "mildly flammable" (overlooking extremely toxic combustion byproducts including the lethal hydrogen fluoride).
But they are not yet commercially available, and will be far more expensive than hydrocarbons and high GWP HFCs when they come to market. Different countries have different stances on how to deal with HFC issue. This documentary examines this interesting story from different perspectives.

They make the original 7 Demon lord battle in the prequel look like child's play IMO.
The 3 Digimon used in this video are Flamedramon (attacker), GhoulmonB/DeathmonB (attacker) and GigaSeadramon (multi-role).
All their stats are maxed out in my Japanese version of Dawn (Sunburst), trained for 550 hours and then transfered over to a new file in Moonlight (Dusk) to do this Quest.

This is the 19th such annual UN conference. This round is supposed to result in 'new commitments' at the end of 2015, but purported realists say a climate deal should allow countries to define their own CO2 emissions targets, since national priorities vary so much.
Care International observer Pascal Girot said: "I hope we can get everyone to the table and [get everyone] to be honest and really believe in a binding agreement by 2015."
The motivational context for such an agreement is that global average temperatures have risen by 0.8 degrees Celsius since the Industrial Revolution, and are set to exceed two degrees Celsius, with a projected rise of five Celsius by the end of this century if nothing is done.
To prevent more than a two degree rise, experts say mankind's 50 gigatonne global annual output of greenhouse gases today will have to be more than halved by 2050.
The different policies of the 192 countries at the conference mean that perhaps the best hope is to set some limits on emissions then strengthen them over time, according to one senior climate analyst.
Poland, for instance, predominantly runs on coal; but it's a minor consumer compared with some emerging economies. China's appetite for coal is expected to make that the world's primary source of energy by 2020. Beijing is going to Warsaw conscious of its problems linked to pollution.
Yet China insists that the countries that have been industrialised for longest bear a leading responsibility, saying they are the ones mostly at fault for planetary emission conditions today.
All the countries are concerned, however: the great and powerful in relative order - China as the globe's biggest emissions producer, then the US, EU and Russia - as well as the small and poor, who do not enjoy the same benefits of industrialisation and yet suffer from climate effects it has contributed to.
The United States never even ratified the Kyoto Protocol - the goals the US has agreed to aim for itself are far more modest than other western countries, one fifth that of Europe's target for greenhouse gas reductions, for example.

Mai 2013 auf SRF1. Bei dieser Kurzmeldung wurde berichtet, dass die weltweite CO2- Belastung ihren höchsten Stand seit sage und schreibe 2 Millionen Jahren erreicht hat! Da stellt sich uns doch die Frage, wie das wohl mit den Messungen vor 2 Millionen Jahren ausgesehen hat? Falls es damals noch keine Messungen gegeben haben sollte, wie in aller Welt ist es denn überhaupt möglich, eine solche Aussage zu beweisen? Weiter wird berichtet, dass die Forscher sagen, dass dieser neue Höchstwert zu hundert Prozent von den Menschen herbeigeführt wurde durch die Nutzung fossiler Brennstoffe. Auch da steht die Frage im Raum, ob sich diese Forscher, dazu missbrauchen oder gar kaufen lassen, um die immer mehr um sich greifende Ausplünderung der Bevölkerung mittels CO2-Steuern und den Handel mit CO2-Emmissionszertifikaten voranzutreiben? Denn es gibt viele Wissenschaftler, sowie Zeit- und Augenzeugen wie zum Beispiel Hartmut Bachmann, der Mit-Geburtshelfer des IPPC (Intergovernmental Panel of Climat Change) war. Diese alle haben den ganzen Schwindel „mit den neuen Besteuerungsmöglichkeiten für die Völker" entlarvt. Hierzu wollen wir Ihnen einige Fakten dieser Wissenschaftler nicht vorenthalten. Das CO2 ist mit einem Volumenanteil von 0,037 % in der Erdatmosphäre vorhanden. Dieser Prozentsatz ist so gering, dass es messtechnisch schwierig ist, nennenswerte Veränderungen überhaupt exakt messen zu können. Der Mensch hat auf den Anteil von CO2 in der Luft und die langfristige biologische Klimaentwicklung kaum Einfluss. Verglichen mit dem natürlichen Vorkommen von CO2 in den Weltmeeren, der Atmosphäre und im Erdreich in unvorstellbarer Menge von über 40'000 Gigatonnen (1 Gigatonne = 1 Milliarde Tonnen), ist das von Menschen erzeugte CO2 nicht mehr als -erlauben sie mir diesen Vergleich - ein kleiner «Furz». In den Weltmeeren sind 38'000 Gigatonnen Kohlendioxyd (CO2) gelöst, in der Luft (Atmosphäre) befinden sich 750 Gigatonnen und im Humus 2'200, zusammen 40'950 Gigatonnen. Alles durch menschliche Tätigkeit erzeugte CO2 beträgt nur 1-- 4 % des natürlich erzeugten Kohlendioxyds. Die gesamte Klimaentwicklung ist nicht an CO2 gekoppelt, sondern an die Sonneneinstrahlung. Dies berichten Wissenschaftler, welche nicht selten solche sind, die anfänglich die These der menschgemachten Klimaerwärmung vertreten oder sogar in Umlauf gebracht hatten. Aufgrund klarer Gegenbeweise und Nichteintreffens ihrer eigenen Schreckensszenarien haben sie jedoch ihre Meinung zu diesem „Klimagestürm" revidiert. Gratulation an diese Wissenschaftler, die sich nicht mehr missbrauchen und kaufen lassen. They make the original 7 Demon lord battle in the prequel look like child's play IMO.
The 3 Digimon used in this video are Flamedramon (attacker), GhoulmonB/DeathmonB (attacker) and GigaSeadramon (multi-role).
All their stats are maxed out in my Japanese version of Dawn (Sunburst), trained for 550 hours and then transfered over to a new file in Moonlight (Dusk) to do this Quest.

This is the 19th such annual UN conference. This round is supposed to result in 'new commitments' at the end of 2015, but purported realists say a climate deal should allow countries to define their own CO2 emissions targets, since national priorities vary so much.
Care International observer Pascal Girot said: "I hope we can get everyone to the table and [get everyone] to be honest and really believe in a binding agreement by 2015."
The motivational context for such an agreement is that global average temperatures have risen by 0.8 degrees Celsius since the Industrial Revolution, and are set to exceed two degrees Celsius, with a projected rise of five Celsius by the end of this century if nothing is done.
To prevent more than a two degree rise, experts say mankind's 50 gigatonne global annual output of greenhouse gases today will have to be more than halved by 2050.
The different policies of the 192 countries at the conference mean that perhaps the best hope is to set some limits on emissions then strengthen them over time, according to one senior climate analyst.
Poland, for instance, predominantly runs on coal; but it's a minor consumer compared with some emerging economies. China's appetite for coal is expected to make that the world's primary source of energy by 2020. Beijing is going to Warsaw conscious of its problems linked to pollution.
Yet China insists that the countries that have been industrialised for longest bear a leading responsibility, saying they are the ones mostly at fault for planetary emission conditions today.
All the countries are concerned, however: the great and powerful in relative order - China as the globe's biggest emissions producer, then the US, EU and Russia - as well as the small and poor, who do not enjoy the same benefits of industrialisation and yet suffer from climate effects it has contributed to.
The United States never even ratified the Kyoto Protocol - the goals the US has agreed to aim for itself are far more modest than other western countries, one fifth that of Europe's target for greenhouse gas reductions, for example.

Guten Abend liebe Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauer unseres heutigen Medienkommentars zur Radiosendung „Heute Morgen" von gestern Samstag den 11. Mai 2013 auf SRF1. Bei dieser Kurzmeldung wurde berichtet, dass die weltweite CO2- Belastung ihren höchsten Stand seit sage und schreibe 2 Millionen Jahren erreicht hat! Da stellt sich uns doch die Frage, wie das wohl mit den Messungen vor 2 Millionen Jahren ausgesehen hat? Falls es damals noch keine Messungen gegeben haben sollte, wie in aller Welt ist es denn überhaupt möglich, eine solche Aussage zu beweisen? Weiter wird berichtet, dass die Forscher sagen, dass dieser neue Höchstwert zu hundert Prozent von den Menschen herbeigeführt wurde durch die Nutzung fossiler Brennstoffe. Auch da steht die Frage im Raum, ob sich diese Forscher, dazu missbrauchen oder gar kaufen lassen, um die immer mehr um sich greifende Ausplünderung der Bevölkerung mittels CO2-Steuern und den Handel mit CO2-Emmissionszertifikaten voranzutreiben? Denn es gibt viele Wissenschaftler, sowie Zeit- und Augenzeugen wie zum Beispiel Hartmut Bachmann, der Mit-Geburtshelfer des IPPC (Intergovernmental Panel of Climat Change) war. Diese alle haben den ganzen Schwindel „mit den neuen Besteuerungsmöglichkeiten für die Völker" entlarvt. Hierzu wollen wir Ihnen einige Fakten dieser Wissenschaftler nicht vorenthalten. Das CO2 ist mit einem Volumenanteil von 0,037 % in der Erdatmosphäre vorhanden. Dieser Prozentsatz ist so gering, dass es messtechnisch schwierig ist, nennenswerte Veränderungen überhaupt exakt messen zu können. Der Mensch hat auf den Anteil von CO2 in der Luft und die langfristige biologische Klimaentwicklung kaum Einfluss. Verglichen mit dem natürlichen Vorkommen von CO2 in den Weltmeeren, der Atmosphäre und im Erdreich in unvorstellbarer Menge von über 40'000 Gigatonnen (1 Gigatonne = 1 Milliarde Tonnen), ist das von Menschen erzeugte CO2 nicht mehr als -erlauben sie mir diesen Vergleich - ein kleiner «Furz». In den Weltmeeren sind 38'000 Gigatonnen Kohlendioxyd (CO2) gelöst, in der Luft (Atmosphäre) befinden sich 750 Gigatonnen und im Humus 2'200, zusammen 40'950 Gigatonnen. Alles durch menschliche Tätigkeit erzeugte CO2 beträgt nur 1-- 4 % des natürlich erzeugten Kohlendioxyds. Die gesamte Klimaentwicklung ist nicht an CO2 gekoppelt, sondern an die Sonneneinstrahlung. Dies berichten Wissenschaftler, welche nicht selten solche sind, die anfänglich die These der menschgemachten Klimaerwärmung vertreten oder sogar in Umlauf gebracht hatten. Aufgrund klarer Gegenbeweise und Nichteintreffens ihrer eigenen Schreckensszenarien haben sie jedoch ihre Meinung zu diesem „Klimagestürm" revidiert. Gratulation an diese Wissenschaftler, die sich nicht mehr missbrauchen und kaufen lassen. For instance, Lester Brown of the Worldwatch Institute has suggested iron ore could run out within 64 years based on an extremely conservative extrapolation of 2% growth per year.[10]
