Terra Cotta Army in Xiang
The Terracotta Army or the "Terracotta Warriors and Horses", is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. It is a form of funerary art buried with the emperor in 210--209 BC and whose purpose was to protect the emperor in his afterlife. The figures, dating from around the late third century BC, were discovered in 1974 by local farmers in Lintong District, Xi'an, Shaanxi province. The figures vary in height according to their roles, with the tallest being the generals. The figures include warriors, chariots and horses. Current estimates are that in the three pits containing the Terracotta Army there were over 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses, the majority of which are still buried in the pits near by Qin Shi Huang's mausoleum. Other terracotta non-military figures were also found in other pits and they include officials, acrobats, strongmen and musicians.- published: 28 Dec 2013

Qin Shi Huang (260--210 BC[3]), personal name Zheng, was the King of the state of Qin (r. 246--221 BC[4]) who conquered all other Warring States by and united China in 221 BC.[4] Rather than maintain the title of king borne by the Shang and Zhou rulers, he ruled as the First Emperor of the Qin dynasty from 220 to 210 BC. The title emperor (huangdi) would continue to be borne by Chinese rulers for the next two millennia.- published: 22 Jun 2014

The Terracotta Army was discovered on 29 March 1974[3] to the east of Xi'an in Shaanxi province by a group of farmers digging a water well approximately 1.6 kilometres (0.99 mi) east of the Qin Emperor's tomb mound at Mount Li (Lishan),[4][5] a region riddled with underground springs and watercourses. For centuries, there had been occasional reports of pieces of terracotta figures and fragments of the Qin necropolis --roofing tiles, bricks, and chunks of masonry having been dug up in the area.[6] This most recent discovery prompted Chinese archaeologists to investigate, and they unearthed the largest pottery figurine group ever found in China. for more info visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terracotta_Army how many terracotta warriors are there how many warriors are in the terracotta army xi'an warriors discovery of the terracotta warriors when was the terracotta army found what were terracotta warriors terracotta warriors location terra cotta warriors xi'an army of terracotta warriors bingmayong great wall of china the army of terracotta warriors terracotta warriors exhibit army of terracotta warriors and horses terracotta warriors san francisco army of terracotta warriors museum qin shi huang China China history China tour Shaolin Monastery china tour packages thomas cook china tours budget china tours tripadvisor china tours reviews china tourism china travel tours china travel china movie full china movie 2012 china movie download china movie jet li china movie online china movie list china movie 2011 china movie channel china shaolin temple kung fu school shaolin monks shaolin training camp shaolin kung fu ranking system kung fu china kunyu mountain shaolin martial arts training in china kunyu china shaolin temple china kung fu china shaolin kung fu learn kung fu in china china shaolin martial arts academy china shaolin electronics trading corp northern china shaolin learn kung fu in china shaolin- published: 06 Jul 2014
